They were friendly and accommodating. There were 9 of us walking in without reservation and they found the tables for us. Food was fantastic, so tasty. The entire group was vegan so the staff was very attentive and helpful.

Updating my review, when there again and place gone even better, prices are still low compare to other Indian restaurants. Dosa night on every Wednesday @ $14.99 is a steal !!! And buffet everyday ! .

Clarification in response to the owner's comment: This review is for the Udupi Bhavan in Lowell MA. The staff at the restaurant told me that this has been taken over by (and will soon be rebranded as) "Dosa & Curry" During our visit, the dessert was payasam during the intitial half hour. But the quantity was only sufficient for 3 of us (party of 6). After a long wait, the staff provided halwa for the others. This halwa tasted awful, and was inedible. My family and I have eaten at this restaurant before the COVID waves, and the food was excellent, the buffet was sumptuous, the service was commendable. Not any more!! I see no reason to remove my honest review. Original Post: This is one of the WORST dining experiences I've ever had. The buffet hardly had any choice, but even those half a dozen dishes were very infrequently replenished. They ran out of the house the only dessert on the buffet table within the first half hour!! The food was loaded with hot peppers, so you really can't eat too much. The most memorable points of our meal : 1. Limited selection 2. Low quantities 3. Long waits, and several requests are needed to have the dishes replenished 4. The only dessert on the buffet table, runs out within the first hour, and will not be replenished 5. Food is low on taste but very high in hot spices and peppers 6. The place is now known as Dosa & Curry 7. Enter at your own risk!!

This used to be a good restaurant. We used to regularly take out. Ever since management changed, the taste isn't great and the quantity has been reduced by half. I don't pay $13 to get a container of sabzi that is the same quantity of free sambar that you get with idli. Kept going back hoping it's a one time thing. But alas not. Why does this happen to all good Indian restaurants

The management of this place has changed. Now operated by some North Indian folks and chef as well. Disclaimer: I am a North Indian myself, and having lived in US now for over two decades have figured out that in most cases, South Indian food is not good at North Indian restaurant, and vice versa. We went to this place due to the South Indian name, and the South Indian food was super disappointing. The utthapam was like a pizza. Sambar was super wanteless. The only thing good was the the dosa crust. The masala was simply aloo with no flavor. I will never go there again. The new owners should change the name and convert to a North Indian restaurant.

We went to Udupi Bhavan (one of our favourites) after a long time. But this new management has changed the whole experience. Thay took 50 minutes to serve 2 dosa and 1 uttapam on a not too busy weeknight. And the taste was so mediocre. I tried chat buffet, but it was not that good also. I'd not go there again in the near future.

Quality of food and options down the drain. 15 dollar buffet for Rock-hard Idlis, Burnt Chapati, Mirchi Bajji, Tamarind rice ( Cmmon Seriously), white rice, semiya kheer, some curries. Very disappointing options and not close to what I have known upupi bhavan for previously.
