Hiko-a-mon Downtown

Have been going here since we moved to Louisville. First time was after a heavy day of moving in so it was great to have some comfort food. It is close to authentic as you can get in this part of the country. I lived 6 years in Japan so I know good Japanese food. Have had various items from the menu and all are great. Sushi is the best I have found in the area. Nothing compares to Toyama Japan but what really does except being there. Ramen is great. I do not know what the other reviewers are thinking but it is always good when I go. If you are not a ramen connoisseur and don’t know the many different types and styles maybe it is not for you. But the house ramen has a distinct rich flavor that has hints a a French onion soup. Maybe the second or third best ramen I have had in the US. Wish they would add a miso and shiio ramen to the menu. Appetizers are also great.

Definitely a great place for good Japanese cuisine. Waitress was awesome and food was great. My wife is just starting to try sushi and she loved all that we tried! Atmosphere is perfect for romantic yet casual and comfortable setting. Would highly recommend for a nice night out. Will return next time we have the chance.

My salmon with vegetables were as wonderfully delicious as they were beautifully presented on the plate. Although I'm typically not a fan of white rice, they seem to know just how to make it taste its best. The salad was simply chopped iceberg lettuce with shredded carrots but the salad dressing was out-of-this-world delicious! It tasted like a salad dressing my father used to make based on a salad dressing he enjoyed at a restaurant named Hunt's. The ambiance was warm and inviting and cozy and appropriate for a wonderful evening's meal. Our server was gracious and patient with all the questions my date and I had about the menu. My date, a sushi fan, enjoyed Sushi of tuna, tobiko and wasabi. The meal was delicious, the ambiance inviting and my date and I enjoyed a wonderful evening! I was glad I visited.
