The food at Masa is always amazing! Their location also has a cozy vibe perfect for a date! We always get the Crunch Much roll, and this time we tried the Fire Roll, which has an amazing presentation!
My husband and I go here all the time, it’s our favorite spot! It’s a really great locally owned restaurant. Every single time we come here I find something new to love. Ren and her family that own this place take pride in everything from the food, to the decorations, to the service. It’s the best sushi in Louisville! It’s always fresh. I love the seafood udon and the Yaki scallop too. You cannot beat this place or the price!
Masa Japanese Bistro & Sushi Bar was a delight and enjoyable experience. The décor was modest and the atmosphere was welcoming.
We started with an order of Egg Rolls as an appetizer. The three rolls were a crispy vegetable type with a very enjoyable sweet chili sauce on the side. The egg rolls were a good size, but unfortunately, we had already eaten two before I took a picture. Sorry for the picture of just one roll.
My wife had a Bento Box with shrimp Teriyaki. The Bento box was served with tempura, steamed rice, gyoza (wonton wrappers stuffed with pork and cabbage), California Sushi, soup, and a house dressing. My wife had a choice of either Miso or Hibachi soup. She picked the Hibachi soup which was awesome. The house salad arrived with a very good ginger dressing. My wife enjoyed all of this very much. She stated it all was very flavorful. The Bento box serving was fairly large, plan on getting a to-go box.
I had one of the Teriyaki Dishes with chicken and New York steak. The dish was served with steamed rice and a house salad. Like my wife I also had a choice of either Miso or Hibachi soup. I also enjoyed the Hibachi soup, too. The servings of rice, salad, and soup were a nice size. My Teriyaki dish arrived with various vegetables in a very good Teriyaki sauce. This was one of those dishes you didn't have to look under the vegetables to find the meat. The chicken and beef were good. But, I would have to say the beef was a bit chewy. It wasn't to a point where you thought you could blow bubbles with the beef. You just have to chewy on it a few more moments. This wouldn't stop me from ordering the dish again.
The serving sizes and the value of what you spend make Masa a must-try the next time you're looking for very pleasing Japanese food.
We have been trying new restaurants to support local during quarantine. This was a HIT!!! The lady was hustling to fill carry out orders!!!! She had a good system and we pulled up to hot, ready food. The sushi was great. The rice was tasty and was fresh tasting. Great gyoza set it off. Try this place out, when tasting Japanese, you won’t be disappointed!
I was visiting from out of state. This is legitimately the best sushi I've ever had.
everything was great but the sushi rice was extremely salty. i think it was a fluke
Very good selection of sushi rolls and the prices are better than local competitors. We tried the Cajun, Chicago, and yum yum. Staffing was minimal so I could see it being a little slow on a busy night, but when we went on Friday it wasn't too bad.
Hands down the Best sushi in town!! Try the Tuna Tataki or Tuna Carapaccio If your into sashimi! Both Amazing!!
Good for the price. In the years I've been going, they have never been packed. In fact, the most I've experienced is five other tables occupied. Service has always been quick and friendly. Wide selection of rolls, good selection of traditional Japanese meals, and some American as well for those that can't journey past their American taste buds.
Great sushi very refreshing California Roll. Redbull roll is so good and the Derby roll is amazing
