I honestly don’t know if there is a lunch place that comes close or compares to The Cheddar Box! This has been a favorite local lunch spot for a long time and it deserves more than 5 stars! I’m not sure what their secret recipe is, but the food is on fire 🔥! You have to order the sweet tea when visiting, best in town! My go to lunch is the tomato artichoke soup as the honey pecan chicken salad. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!

Chicken salad was OK. The service was absolutely marvelous! They close early, and the dining room closes at 3 ish. Their cakes made my mouth water, and my gallbladder hurt. Super nice customer service, especially by the beautiful twins and girl in the back.

It is rare that you find a restaurant where the food is so good that you begin plotting when you will visit next before you leave. Everything is delicious from the pies to the salads to the quiche to the sandwiches... EVERYTHING. The locals know, this is the place to eat.

This place is already awesome! But what happened today I will never forget. I go here at least once a week or more because they always have delicious, tasty, fresh, new and fun things from lunch to dessert! Just saw this “Chutney Bacon Toast” today for example (pic). The staff is so friendly and inviting! Speaking of, another co-worker came up to me and said, Megan who sees me frequently, told me that this week part of a gift to give back is each employee is allowed to give gift a meal to a customer of their choice. I couldn’t believe it when they told me my meal was FREE! It truly made me feel really good! I always give to anyone and everyone whenever I can in anyway I can and to receive it back was very touching! Thank you again so much staff at the Cheddar Box Cafe and Megan! Happy holidays! No surprises here! No, wait, although that's not always the case with this busseling little hot spot. The service was quick, and the staff was friendly. The food was served quickly from a menu that gives you a well-rounded selection for lunch. The food was fresh with generous portions. The staff were attentive to our needs. Dessert was offered, but none order; I can't imagine why.. It is all so delicious. Checkout was a breeze. I'll be back soon.

Love the place! I go there for lunch often. Love the tomato artichoke soup. I grow tired if the tomato basil that everyone else has. Can't go wrong with any of the chicken salad choices. Don't leave without dessert.

The food is always great and so is the service. I used a gift card today and it was declined and I was so embarrassed but the girls at the register were so patient and nice. Thank goodness I don't live close to the Cheddar Box Cafe, because I would eat there for every meal. Don't be alarmed when the parking lot is full and you can't find a space, just be patient because it's worth the wait - keep driving around looking for a spot. I dropped in today and got meals for several days, like a huge portion of delicious Lasagna, the best honey pecan chicken salad you'll ever have, and Cheesy Stuffed Chicken and Chicken Almond Crunch are my favorites. Times are tough with staffing, and you couldn't tell it today by the quick and friendly service. Even if you have to wait a few minutes - it's well worth the wait. I have never had a bad experience here. You are missing out if you haven't tried this amazing spot and of course - the Cheddar Pecan Torte! I guarantee you'll love it or I'll eat whatever you order. This is a top 20 food spot in the state and possibly the region!

One of Louisville's best restaurants! I had the opportunity to enjoy lunch again today at the Cheddar Box Café. The food is always fresh and many wonderful flavors. The best part of our lunch was the staff, in both the café and the deli. The are very friendly and helpful. If you go be sure and try the cornbread salad and the tomato artichoke soup. We also stopped by the deli to take a few favorites home. Today we grabbed a piece of strawberry cake. Delightful.

We enjoyed a tasty lunch of chicken salad, soup, and pasta salad. They get very busy for lunch and parking can be tricky, but it's a popular lunch and deli spot. Be sure to check out the deli and dessert selections.

Cute place to go eat lunch. Food is super fresh and very good, but service is a bit scattered. The hostess sat us and took our drink orders and then went back to seating people. There were two servers that kept coming to take our drink orders and it wasn't until we had sat there for a few minutes that they worked out who would be our server. It would have gotten 5 stars if the service was better.

Food was amazing but way too crowded! I am taking Derby into consideration here, but it felt like we waited forever for the food. Also we had 6 people in our group so it was hard to find a table that fit us all. The place is great for a morning meeting spot, a quick cup of coffee and breakfast or a lunch. I'd rather do the takeout option for a group. That's all I had a problem with. Everything else was amazing.

Small, quaint restaurant. Walk-ins only. Short wait time. Tables only, no booths. Fast, friendly service. Lunch only w/ delicious options. Best BLT I've ever eaten. Attached deli, also having scrumptious desserts worth taking out. We usually take home a cold portion of lasagna for a shareable, evening meal. A single, one-toilet restroom. No alcohol. Parking can be a challenge. We still enjoy it often.

This is a favorite stop for me. They make me the best Arnold Palmer's in a big Styrofoam cup to go when I'm ready to head out. Food is great & always a crowd at lunch. Everything is great & fresh. Desserts are heavenly. Cheese dips and spreads are great to order for parties. Portions are big which makes it great for sharing. Table service seating and order off the menu or deli style service. Both options are great but more of a variety on Deli side.

Simply the best sandwiches in the city. The Honey Pecan Chicken is addictive and the Benedictine is 'heavenly" we go several times a month and are never disappointed.

Very nice and fresh food. Sandwiches are the best. I like the cakes also. I am vegetarian and you get ample choice of vegetarian options. They have good varieties of fresh Pastas also. I like their black bean ravioli a lot.

Great place for a lunch with colleagues or a brunch with friends. The wait can be lengthy, but it is well worth it. Cheddar box knows how to take simple recipes and elevate taste with interesting twists.

We love The Cheddar Box! The tomato artichoke soup is the absolute best, I can't go there without getting a small cup. I really love the curry chicken salad and the green salad with strawberries/oranges/onions. I also love that we can dine in or go to the deli side if we are in a hurry. We often stop here on our way to the zoo and just make Cheddar Box out picnic lunch 😄

The staff is really nice and their BLT was pretty good even though I don't like cream cheese so that's saying something. Didn't care for their chicken salad. Curried was just ok. Honey Pecan was too sweet. Really large sandwiches. Tea had a funny taste-- I would go with unsweetened. I don't think I'll go back anytime soon because it didn't suit me but it's a cool place and always good to check out independent local restaurants. -----10 Jul, 2013----- Their Benedictine BLT sandwich was featured on Food Network as the best sandwich in Kentucky! I don't know of I'd go that far, but I hate cream cheese and I thought this sandwich was really good. I looking forward to eating more there!

Unique in all the world. The Cheddar Box is the absolute ultimate for consistently delicious food and some of the friendliest folks you will ever meet. The Chef and her helpers are fabulously talented and often have "surprise" items that aren't on the menu regularly. It's my favorite place in Louisville! Try it, you'll love it!

Great Place for Lunch. Great place to have lunch. Sandwiches and Salads are wonderful! My favorite is the Curry Chicken Salad, if you like curry, it's a must! Staff are very friendly and I've always had great service.

I have been eating at Cheddar Box Cafe for years now. My only complaint is that they close by 7pm. The employees are always friendly and get the food out quickly. East Meets West is my go to sandwich, but so far I haven't found one that I didn't like.

We went once.... And you don't want to hear my review on how we all felt after. I've heard lots of raves but I have not been back. We did not have the best of experiences. I personally found the food to be very greasy. It could have been the chef that night but it was enough for all of us not to go back.
