Milkwood provided a dining experience of a lifetime. We are extreme fans of Edward Lee and were so excited to visit one of his restaurants. Milkwood provided the most professional exciting experience that I've ever had at a restaurant. The service was incredible, we started by being greeted with complementary champagne for our anniversary. Then the server provided the most detailed descriptions of the drinks and menu helping us choose the best options available. The food was the most unique and incredible tasting food I have ever had. There is nothing available that you have had before and nothing available that won't completely blow your mind and tastebuds. Each worker, the atmosphere, the food, all combined provided us with the best dining experience I have ever had. A simple thank you is not enough .

We had another amazing dinner and dining experience with you guys last night! The food,as always, was astounding and the service is some of the best in town. I asked if they could make a drink that used to be on the menu(Certain Dark Things), which is one of the best cocktails I have ever had and that taste haunts me to this day. The bartender came to the table to speak to me about it because while they had some of the ingredients, they didn't have all of them on hand. She said she could make something close but it definitely wouldn't be the same. I decided to forego that and she mixed up something else for me that was delicious and hit similar bitter notes. We both had ramen, which was perfect and for dessert we ordered a piece of Chocolate Chess Pie which is my new favorite. I could eat a bucket of the peanut butter ice cream alone. Super light tasting but definitely has a strong peanut flavor. The chef also sent out a complimentary Coconut Chiffon. I would never have ordered it because I'm not a fan of coconut, but that dessert blew my mind. It was so very light and delicately flavored. The coconut was there but paired with the other flavors in the dish it was not at all like the typically overpowering coconut flavor that I dislike. This dessert will probably be in regular rotation for us not too, so a big thanks to the chef! Thanks for another fabulous evening, we will definitely be back soon!

First time at Milkwood though I hope it won't be the last. Our waiter, Brian, was super-friendly and helpful, especially with my boyfriend's gluten allergy. I didn't like my first cocktail so he exchanged it for a glass of wine at no charge. The food was excellent, with small but flavourful portions. Everything was cooked just right. The cocktail menu is interesting in the sense that it shows you the taste (bitter, sweet, etc) for each drink. Overall a great experience and definitely worth the price.

Super cool spot! Quality over quantity here. Definitely got enough to eat still. My wife got a bunless burger that had bacon and cheddar cheese. She really liked it. I got the hot wings. Big surprise 😁. They were smoked and had a really good chili lime sauce. We shared an order of the brussel sprouts. They also make a great cocktail and have a pretty cool menu for ordering drinks based on if you want sweet, salty, sour, or savory. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. I would come back here again if I were to visit Louisville again. Try it out!

Such an interesting menu and interesting choices. For the first time I tried Sweet Breads, and I hope they always taste like this because they set the bar very high. The Beef tartare was another first and it was amazing. Tender, flavorful, perfectly sized and accompanied by chips and some delicious sauce. We also had the Curry Mussels, I dont know how you make the mussels an after thought, but a delicious bread and complex and smooth sauce will do that. Lastly we tried the house Ramen. I was not impressed by the broth itself. But then mixing it all together was the perfect bite. Savory broth, sweet pork, umami from the mushrooms, freshness from the green onions, the egg is poached in a herbaceous broth that comes the dance of deliciousness in your mouth. Oh and Slade our waiter was outstanding and the manager instead of standing and just delegating he was helping his staff and constantly checking on tables. It was a wonderful experience.

Why can't I give a place six stars! This was hands down one of the best restaurants that I have ever visited. Super friendly staff and amazing food come together to make an unforgettable experience. The cocktails and food was imaginative without being gimmicky. Asian food with a southern flair or southern food with an Asian flair? I don't care just give me more!

Looking at Milkwood's menu, you'll notice their knack for mixing sweet, sour, savory, spicy and salty throughout their entire menu, from cocktails all the way through to dessert. The restaurant was an experience, to say the least. Louisville, KY has truly great culinary minds at work, and Milkwood is probably one of the most notable examples of this. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the experience was incredible from top to bottom.

This Restaurant is attached to the Actors theater downtown. It is a downstairs dwelling that has a made from scratch, low lit and elegant dining experience. While the menu was not very big, a lot of thought and passion goes into each dish. On top of locally sourced ingredients and an excellent quality of food, there is a perfect balance of options to appeal to everyone. There are also items on the menu for vegans and vegetarians as well, though not many. You may check with the server for any other accommodations. They also have a decent bar area too so can grab a drink but the dinning area is on the smaller side. ****That being said it would be wise to check ahead to see if there is a show at the neighboring theater or if its just a busy weekend evening as this seems like a high traffic establishment periodically. Milkwood's website puts making a reservation front and center and it must be for a reason. My visit had just my family of 6 and another couple eating at the time so we had no issues being seated and served immediately. Overall this experience was Wonderfull, I would highly recommend this restaurant to travelers and locals alike. You could make an entire evening of this restaurant too if you check for any shows at Actors Theater that may interest you and follow it up with a reservation at Milkwood. I hope your experience is as good as mine was.

MilkWood has been a bucket list item for me ever since I learned about Chef Ed Lee through Mind of a Chef, and our meal exceed expectations. We ordered everything off the Southern Dim Sum menu, plus the collards & kimchi, cottage fries, and togarashi cheesecake. Everything was unbelievably good, and nearly everything was unlike anything I had ever tasted before. I wish we lived closer, because we’d be going all the time. Louisville is lucky to have MilkWood.

Great spot for Koren fusion dishes! We weren't sure quite what to expect, but everything was very tasty! The rice bowls were the star of the show, for sure, and nothing else we tried was disappointing. Highly recommended for something different!

This place in underneath a theater, and was a little hard to find with some construction going on, but man am I glad we stopped in. The chicken wing appetizer alone e made it worth it. My fiancee is celiac, so we couldn't get the sauce because it has gluten in it. However, we didn't need it. They were deliciously smoky without being overpowering, and hands down the best wings I have ever had. The ramen was a little less impressive. Incredibly rich, but a little one-notish in flavor. I felt like it needed a little acid to balance out the flavor. However, the pork shoulder, even without the sauce (gluten), was perfectly tender and incredibly flavorful.
