Review 610 Magnolia - Louisville

Amazing. We did the wine pairing with dinner and everything went together splendidly. Service was excellent. It was one of the most enjoyable meals I’ve had in a very long time. I love a dinner that is designed to be savored and enjoyed.

We went for my 30th birthday. I received some of the best service I’ve ever gotten at any restaurant here. The amuse bouche grilled cheese sandwich was one of the best bites of food I’ve ever eaten as well (I asked for a second helping partway through the courses and they were kind enough to bring me one). Would go back a hundred times, 10/10 recommend.

The food was ethereal. My beloved vegetarian bride was blown away with the food despite the number of changes needed to their tasting menu to accommodate her. Hats of the the entire staff for making it a memorable experience, specially Anna. Thank you all.

One of the best meals I have ever had. Exceptional. Top tier. The bourbon aficionado was amazing!! It's a must try! Also did the wine pairing. This complimented each course so well!

Excellent fine dining experience in Louisville! Every course was delicious even the fish for me which I like less in general. Decent value, would go again if in Louisville.

We enjoyed the 5 course menu last week. The Scallop was simply the best food I’ve ever eaten! It melted like it was made of air, and the flavor with the black bean reduction lingered joyously afterwards like the final notes of a beautiful symphony! The dessert with the butterscotch cream was a favorite! Thank you to Emma and the staff for making adjustments to my daughter’s menu to account for her tree-nut allergy and vegetarian choice. Everything was outstanding and my family all enjoyed it.

Had yet another beautiful evening at 610 Magnolia tonight. Having Anna as our server made the experience even more exceptional. Her calm and confident approach to hospitality was exactly what we needed; her knowledge of the menu and recommendations on wine pairings were spot on. Always a pleasure.

Tucked in the quiet neighborhood of Magnolia Ave is 610 Magnolia. The restaurant provides a dinner experience unlike no other. It takes a lot of culinary expertise and talent to showcase a menu inspired by the marriage of Southern cuisine and Korean cuisine, and 610 Magnolia executed it with perfection. No gimmicks involved, the whole five course menu tasted as great as it looked. So intricately prepared, all components of all courses complemented well with each other in terms of color, texture, flavor and smell. I forgot to take a photo of the foie gras and the drunken banana cake but they were top-notch. If you live around the area or just visiting, please do yourself a favor and visit this gem.

The staff are great, both at their job and really personable. The food is wonderful. The amuse bouche kicks things off on a great note. The cocktails are beautifully constructed and the 5 course menu is packed with various offerings that were all respectively a hit.

It’s been a long time since I’ve had food this good with service this spot-on. 610 Magnolia is a tasting menu only restaurant, which meant 5 courses the night we went. Every dish was enjoyable, especially the pork loin with pork belly. The wine pairing added an extra ounce of awesome, and was worth the splurge. But the best part was the service. Our server instantly felt like an old friend, and those that helped him made the evening feel like we were hanging out at a friend’s house. Thank you all for making our birthday evening so spectacular!

Came here while doing the Bourbon trail to celebrate our anniversary- it was spectacular! We did the wine pairing and, while I am not generally a white wine drinker, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked everything. The food was delicious and well thought out, the portions were perfect- the mushroom gnocchi was phenomenal. I had a small issue with my medication during dinner, and was not able to really enjoy the main entrée and the dessert, but I was able to eat a bit of the squab and it was mouth watering!

My mom and I had dinner here to celebrate my 50th birthday. The entire experience was fantastic, from the champagne toast they brought for my birthday to the 5 course meal. The food was delicious and the wine pairings were perfect for each course. The waitstaff was great and really knew how to allow guests to enjoy their time. We will definitely be back.

It goes without saying that the food here is impeccable, I don't need to cover that, but I'd like to add that the service was truly fantastic from two very kind and attentive waiters, in a simple, comfortable and unassuming atmosphere. There are maybe 10-12 tables... and probably 115 lit candles. Perfect. The cocktails were complex and delightful, and while we did not pair every dish the wine we did choose was exceptional. There were two of us and we ordered the six-course menu each, staggering our choices so we could try everything and I very much so recommend doing the same. In addition to the courses there were many great little one-bite in-between 'pallet-cleansers'... cubes of grilled BLT, fruit sorbets, truffles, spicy macaroons, bourbons and more. Loved it all. Our servers knew the menu thoroughly and the manager (this was a Wednesday) was incredibly attentive and informative, answering all our questions about how some things were grown (across the street mostly) and how they were then prepared. It was just amazing and we left feeling so perfectly satisfied and cared for, Southern hospitality indeed.

As a long time fan of Chef Ed Lee, I was really excited to try 610 on a recent trip to Louisville, but was left wanting more. A few things that I found interesting about the experience before I get into the actual food. Reservations are by phone only. I sort of like this because you interact with a person rather than just some random online reservation system. Since the website doesn’t have a menu or pricing, this does allow you to ask questions. But in case you are wondering, it’s a five course meal for $110, not including drinks, service, and taxes. They were pretty communicative when I called and left a VM and they confirmed day of via text. I really like the human touches in an era of dining when service is being sacrificed because of staffing shortages. The five course menu is pre-fixe, but what’s interesting is that you can choose between two options for each course, in 4 of 5 cases. You can do an optional wine pairing, which is an additional 65, which are four pretty healthy pours, plus a dessert cocktail. Pours are a bubbly, two whites, and a red. The value on the pairing is quite good, many of our party left feeling quite cheerful, shall we say. The server and wait staff were really friendly, informative, and good spirited. They didn’t talk too much and were pretty happy to engage with us as a group when we had questions. As a party of six, we effectively tried every dish on the menu except one dessert. There were some clear winners amongst the group including the amuse bouche and the quail (4th course). Both seafood courses, one of sea scallop and the other of hake, were a bit underwhelming. The lamb, which was an alternate to the quail, was very rare. I don’t mind rare lamb personally, but the other person in my party who got it didn’t care for the temp of the meat. I personally was a big fan of the dessert, which was an interesting take on a s’more, which smoke and chocolate and freeze dried corn and marshmallow. It comes actually smoking to you, but my wife really didn’t care for the smoke smell and flavor. Overall I felt like some of the dishes had too many components that it was hard to get one fork full of all the pieces, so it didn’t all harmonize. We did appreciate the contrast in textures in the dishes, but found the flavor to be understated in some dishes. Oh! The bread and butter. Forgot that. The butter is out of this world good. It’s mixed with sorghum and topped with flaky sea salt on a really delicious sourdough bread made locally. Overall, a pretty good experience, but not the best dining experience I have ever had. I can see why it would rank as one of the best in Louisville, but I likely wouldn’t come back on a return trip.

Incredible food, amazing ambiance!! I enjoyed the 5 course tasting menu, and asked the chef to choose for me! I really enjoyed the meal progression! One note: the service was generally good, but there were two instances where my 2nd and 4th courses were plated but I didn’t have any cutlery. Attention to the guest is important

Lucky enough to go here for Valentine's. 610 has a reputation, so I'd been looking for an opportunity to check it out. Great ambience, great service, great food, just a great overall experience. It certainly lives up to the reputation it has earned, and is one of the landmark restaurants in Louisville.

My hubby’s best birthday dinner ever! Superior wine pairing with all five courses, incredible creativity with ingredients, flavors that were WOW with every bite, and the amazing bourbon aficionado to top off the evening. Beautiful setting! Get your rez now … if you can.

I had a meal here 5 years ago that was transcendental; not sure if I've changed or the restaurant has but it felt a little less special this time. Little missteps like my fried oyster being a tad overcooked and service being friendly but not quite as professional as the standard for fine dining. Still, this is one of the best meals to be had in Louisville and at a inexpensive price point compared to other cities. And Ed Lee is a great guy who has done a lot for the community and the restaurant biz at large. It is worth a visit at least once.

Words cannot describe how much fun it was to dine here. My party and I didn't fully know what to expect, but that all changed with the BLT. I instantly fell in love with the BLT. It may have been my favorite dish (technically it was "just" an amuse bouche). Either that or all the dishes were equally perfect. I couldn't stop smiling all dinner long because of how good the food was. It took us 2.5 hours to get through dinner and it was so WORTH IT. The staff was PROFESSIONAL, the food was DELICIOUS, and YOU should go have dinner at 610 Magnolia.

I don’t even know where to start. I came here for dinner for my honeymoon. I married a lovely pastry chef and needless to say food and wine are our lives. The staff are welcoming and friendly. The atmosphere in this restaurant manages to walk a great line between top level fine dining... but it feels like it’s being served by your friend who knows his way around a kitchen. I don’t think this atmosphere could exist anywhere but a place like Louisville. I come from Toronto where our restaurants are trying so hard to deliver this kind of experience it often feels like they are “trying too hard” and experiencing fine dining in places like New York, Paris, and San Francisco (all worth doing) things at Magnolia feel ... relaxed. Our server (Travis) knew the wine pairings well and was able to talk about what was in our glass. The wine list is OUTSTANDING... cool climate focused and pretty foolproof to go with the food if you decide to skip the pairings. Owner/Chef Edward Lee was at the restaurant when we were there and he walked around the restaurant thanking everyone for being there. Chef... thank you for running a fine restaurant and creating an experience we will never forget.

Words cannot describe the meal ! Exquisite , superb though come to mind. Thanks to our server Danielle for arranging a special treat for us! We had to opportunity to meet Chef/owner Edward Lee. Also to have him sign our menu and to have exec chef Kevin Ashworth sign as well. Thanks also to Lindsay. I recommend this restaurant if you ever visit Louisville. The ambiance as well was outstanding. Thanks again to everyone involved in our lovely, unforgettable experience at 610 Magnolia.

Foodie paradise. I recommend the 6 course option. Don't worry, portion sizes are controlled well. Service is top rate. Very pleasant and festive. Recommend coat and tie for men, just to fit in.

It's not often that a dinner surprises me on every level but 610 Magnolia did. From being understanding and flexible with our reservation, to greeting us with champagne, to stellar service, and food that was delicious to the last bite. It may be pricey but it was worth every bit of it. I may have found a new restaurant for all my future anniversaries and I am willing to travel from out of state, it was that good!

A unique and relaxing meal from beginning to end. Recommendations and pairings from the staff make a big difference in the level of meal you experience, in my opinion. Great adventurous friends were with us and we even had a brief encounter with Chef Edward Lee - who is genuine and smiles authentically as he stopped at our table. The service was perfect and our waiter was knowledgeable but, not too pretentious in any way. Would love to do this again soon!

Food and service was exceptional. Each ingredient shines through. Our waiter was very knowledgeable. Highly recommend the six course option with the wine pairing

I've very much enjoyed all my visits to 610, and Mother's Day brunch was no exception. I was grateful to Chef Edward Lee for opening his door for such a wonderful occasion. In addition, Chef Lee personally greeted each patron tableside. He is a genuine, caring, down-to-earth kind of guy. Of course the food was phenomenal as well, but that goes without saying!

If you are in the area, you must go here. Wine pairings excellent! Great food. Hands down one of the best dinners I’ve been to!

Absolutely fabulous meal, maybe the best we've had since moving back to Louisville a decade ago! We visited for a birthday and loved everything. All the courses were delicious, well prepared, and the wine pairings were perfect. Now we just need to find an excuse to come back!
Allison Ogle-Corner
We had the most phenomenal and delicious meal courses with perfect wine pairings. I appreciate your detail and palate. Just incredible to experience.

If you're into food, this restaurant is a must. The staff was excellent and the meal was a delicious experience!

Our four courses included everything from octopus to sliced beef tongue to quail with a wine pairing with each course. Since it was our anniversary, we were greeted with champagne. Dessert was a covered drunken banana cake flambé with ice cream when uncovered produced a large vapor. Cool! A wonderful experience.

As always, we had stellar service, very inventive food that was nicely plated, and great cocktails and wine. I'm always impressed that the food here is so original, yet also so delicious.

Exquisite food with robust flavors. Attentive service but not encumbering. Highly recommend this Louisville gem.

This was one of the best meals of my life. From the first course to dessert and everything in between! The drink pairings were fantastic as well!!!!

A very special place. Every course challenges your pallet and allows you to discover how diverse ingredients should be integrated and seasoned. I'm too old to have vivid memories of every meal I've ever had but this one may have been number one in this 64 year old foodie's lifetime. Just Amazing!
