Went there for the first time, and it did not disappoint. We ordered the Siu Mai (Pork), Steamed Scallops, Pork Cha Su Bao, Salt Pepper Calamari, Combination Fried Rice, Salt Pepper Pork chop, let me tell you, this place is legit! I've been to quite a few dim sum places in Chinatown and Monterey Park, and this place is definitely on par food-wise, but unlike those other dim sum places with mediocre service, the service is was great, everyone was very attentive. I don't think I even asked to get a water refill, someone was always coming over making sure we have water and drinks (try to get that level of service at other dim sum places). And as a bonus, the owner, Rose (from Shanghai, hence the name), was very nice and friendly. I'm definitely coming back with a bigger crew, gotta come back to this hidden valley gem soon!
Best dim-sum in LA. Great service. Plenty of parking in the back. I ❤️ it!
I get a look at the menu, and Holy Mother of Chinese Broccoli in Oyster Sauce…this stuff…looks…great. It doesn’t just look like real, old school Dim Sum, IT IS real, old school Dim Sum.
The good news…I came alone, and it’s all mine.
The bad news…I came alone, and I can’t get anything more than 4 dishes. (Remember, we have a rule about Dim Sum).
Shanghai Rose cooked up some good, good food. It’s not Lunasia, or Elite or Mission 261, but you know what? It’s right up there with Atlantic Seafood and Dim Sum. Not the best in town, but pretty damn good, and not terribly expensive.
Having just returned from Shanghai I was eager to relive the elegant dim sum cuisine. I learned that Studio City has a newer restaurant called Shanghai Rose.
On weekends dim sum rolling carts are pushed throughout the black and red decorated restaurant. During the week dim sum is available cooked to order.
The owner "Rose" has pushed dim sum carts and worked in the restaurant business for 25 years.
There are multiple chefs in the kitchen from Hong Kong. Most of the dishes are Cantonese with a few traditional Shanghai cuisine.
The kitchen is one of the cleanest in the Valley. They serve Chinese cuisine made in Beijing woks. It's fresh and not too oily.
Order the soup dumplings, braised eggplant and steamed pork buns.
The restaurant shares a parking lot with a Russian restaurant - Romanov Restaurant and Lounge located above Shanghai Rose. The parking lot is filled with exotic BMWs, Mercedes and Audis. The is another lot behind the restaurant that you can park for 2 hours free with a restaurant validation.
