After a night drinking in Koreatown, this was the perfect way to end the night. Classic Korean bar/snack food that very much reminded me of a little restaurant I visited in S. Korea. Dark aesthetic with lots of little booths. Took about 40 minutes to get seated when we got there around midnight but it was definitely worth it. Service was very quick once you get in. We got the seafood pancake, chicken gizzard (a first for me), and some pork belly. All of it was delectable and washed it down with some soju. If you're looking for some Korean drunchies or just a somewhat "authentic" (coming from a white guy that visited Korea once) late night Korean bar experience, this place is great.
Went here the other night for a friend's Bachelor party. Incredible food! Wish I bought every plate, because every plate was absolutely delicious. That spicy chicken is fire! I'll definitely be coming back soon. Five stars everyday!
Good vibes, decors, and lovely servers. Food is priced reasonably and comes in large servings! Could be tastier but it might just be the dishes we ordered (seafood pancake didn’t have much seafood, corn cheese was just ok as well, spicy chicken skewer is super spicy and the waiter warned us about that)
We did a walk in with a group of 9. The wait took a very long time, about ~2 hours. The staff were friendly, but obviously busy. It became pretty packed with people.
I didn’t have much of an appetite and I don’t drink, but I felt adventurous and tried the frogs legs. It was kind of like a meaty chicken but not quite like duck and tastier than I expected. The kimchi pancake was also good, and the ramen was OK. There were order of pork belly and it was a bit dry.
The bill turned out to be around $200 so it wasn’t terrible given it was a group of 9 and they got drinks. You purchase per dish, so it’s pretty nice compared to paying an AYCE (all you can eat) price.
The atmosphere was very noisy, so it’s not really my kind of scene. But it was fun.
Great place to meet up with friends and grab drinks. There are grilled skewers you can order to go with the happy hour vibes (unfortunately they don’t have a happy hour menu or specials).
Food-wise, my favorite was the beef short rib skewer (wasn’t on a skewer). The other skewers that I ordered—scallop, pork belly, frog leg—were alright. The seafood pancake was a little underwhelming as there was very little seafood and lot and lots of green onions. I would come here as an after-work spot to drink and chat, but not for a dinner meal. Service and staff were great. I suggest coming hear early to avoid the long wait like most places in LA.
Will go again / Food = Above average / Service = Above average / Price = Below average / Cleanliness = Average
I asked the waiter for some of the most popular items on the menu and spent around ~$30. Cool place to hangout with friends whether dinner or late night. Similar to Japanese yaki tori, Dan Sung Sa offers many small food items at lower prices around ~$2-3 per plate and other larger plates at the usual in prices ~$10+. Great place to enjoy drinks and order the small plates paring with the alcohol. They are also open until late so it is mostly a nightlife place to go. Although the few meat small plates I ordered had similar flavors, they were good. A variation in the flavors would make it that much better. I tried the Korean rice wine for a drink and it was quite good. To soften the alcohol in my body, I finalized my order with the eel hand roll because of the rice. Umami at its best.
Parking is limited similar to many places around Koreatown. Street parking might be a more viable option around the area. The interior is clean from what I can tell. As the interior design has a wooden theme, ithis is difficult to tell. They have many booths around the edges of the place with a center table surrounding a Japanese style cooking area where the orders come from.
