Serious 5 stars, not just a hype review. It’s great to come back to Venice Beach after all these years and find a classy joint that looks out for its clientele. The eve I was there it was an after hours get together after a work meeting with our global crew. The eve was great, nice ambiance great drinks, and I even had the most amazing 20 minute conversation with the bouncer. I wish I could remember his name - He is from Tobago. Cool guy, and great staff across the board. Fast forward a few weeks to tonight. I realized I forgot a receipt for one round of classy cocktails. The manager Alex, in a matter of seconds upon receiving my call, had that receipt in my corp inbox. I only post reviews (good or bad) when I mean it!
This establishment is worthy of your business!

We had an evening with indi bands, had fun. Entrance was 5$ and the drinks are not cheap, wine 18$, cocktails 19$. They don’t display the prices on the board.

Everything was great and fun, original bartender was amazing and fun to talk with and sent me receipt $96 but second bartender charged me for my one drink $18.71 and then an additional $66 with no receipts but i reached management and all was resolved amicably. No reason like the other reviewer to call theft. Accidents happen and place is amazing

Friendly and helpful bar staff.

Shelly was amazing. Best service I’ve had in LA since I’ve come back from Denver! Her knowledge of the establishment and her Guinness pour was beautiful. Can’t recommend this place enough! 10 stars if I could.

Cool little place. My old fashion was too strong to enjoy. Service was great.

I had an awesome time with the bartender Vinicius. He is so charismatic and could managed to make sure if I needed any help every time. Vinicius also made me the best Manhattan I’ve ever drank. Music is awesome, the security guys are super cool. I had a great experience, definitely gonna come back for those drinks.

I've only been twice as i am from Orlando but this place is great. 2 out of 2 times I've visited, they have had interesting shows. First time was a classic burlesque show and last night it was a band called Katalyst, they were like jazz fusion with soul and beats... Loved it! Diamond, behind the bar, was nice and poured some great old fashions.
I will gladly go again! We don't have much like this in Orlando... Maybe I would go out more if we did.

Better - than - a dive bar. Vintage digs, being an old speak easy. Downstairs during the week, they actually had it set up like a night club with dancing. There was a time when all they served were whiskey and whiskey based mixed drinks, but now they serve Moscow mules and some of the more popular ones. Downstairs, they serve a drink called After Sunset. Pretty good.

Guinness Rating: Great pour. No bitterness, but lacks a full range of flavor. Smooth and light, but could use more creaminess. No metal.

Free shows on Thursdays are a must. No lines, not sweaty or crowded and live music. Definitely a different feel from the crazy weekends here. Drinks are really expensive, 15 dollars for a shot is ridiculous but our bartender Nayomi made it all worth it. She was amazing and made my friends and I feel right at home. Will be back next week. Would be a cute date night!

There was only one bartender but handled everything like a champ.
Our drinks were great. The bartender even made a special drink for my wife

My name is Arsineh Alenkin from AB Weddings & Special Events. I had the honor of planning an exclusive private event on August 17th at this hidden-gem of a vintage bar. WOW! Will not do of how amazing this venue was. It was the Americanbars Soft Launch Party with over 100 Guests, Media, in-house Dj and Band. This was place truly is something that you have check out. As a planner its really important for me to get a feel of a venue for clients or even for myself. The energy in there and the staff was unbelievable. Bartenders were on top of things which is a plus itself. I wish there was more stars I could give but 5 to me is 10. My recommendations to anyone hosting/planning events don't miss this venue. It is in Venice Beach and it might be a drive but worth every mileage.

The Townhouse & The Del Monte Speakeasy is an awesome venue. The staff is very professional and friendly, and the crowd is always diverse and full of positive energy. My favorite hang on the Westside! Also, the monthly Black and Gold party is NOT to be missed!

So much history and so small nuance from that period. George the bartender was fantastic with his story telling and knowledge of the place’s history. I think he said he had been a bartender there for 43 years.
David Martin
The bartenders were great! George is a wonderful asset for the bar. His knowledge about the history of the place is amazing.
And Fish is a great side-kick. They work very well together.

Great looking place, alcohol is good, BUT the music was too old school. They didn't play any hits. People weren't really dancing; DJ should have paid attention to that.
Jess Cannon
The worst doormen with the biggest complexes. Called a derogatory term and the manager looked on as nothing happened. Absolute crap of a bar and not worth going to if you value yourself as a person.
John R. Moritz
George is the best bartender ever and a Venice icon!

My ultimate hangout when I lived in Venice. Loved it when it was old and grungy, now it's old and pretty. If you know anything about prohibition back in the day, this was the bar that received alcohol by boat. Check out the history... Very cool history

Club excelente. Rasgos muy gichos y ambiente joyesco. Lo mejor de Venice

I love George he makes me feel at home and I always look forward to his smile and stories when I’m in town. Thank you, George, for being a pillar of the Venice community!

I saw a concert downstairs. The place is old. As in 1930s old and dark. If Dracula needed a place to through a party this it. Great for the artist I saw but they had no food.

6 Stars when Louie drops in. Homeric.

Quaint speak easy.... free comedy & burlesque show.... what's not to like!!

I have only been here a few times, the last being St. Patrick's Day, but I've got to say I love this place! The bartenders are very approachable and nice to talk to when they have a chance. The low-lit atmosphere is simply awesome and everyone that goes seems to enjoy themselves. Every Wednesday night is comedy night downstairs and it's just $7 to go down there. No drink minimum, this place just rocks! I'll be going here after having a rough day at work. Love it!

You will never get a penny of mine. Your coward bouncer called police and a man is dead. You must live with this. Best you can do is release tapes to the public. Now.
Syrena Shofner
Had a very good time here! Loved the old speak easy atmosphere!
Christina Gallo
Love love love this place! The doormen/staff were so great!
Kevin Schrader
Great people and great drinks. Dark, loud and sexy.
Noemi Gil
Been coming to this bar regularly since 2008. In recent years, the bouncer has been a major jerk- on cinco de mayo he called the cops on a young homeless guy and as a result, the young man was killed. fuck this bar for allowing their staff to be so careless w human life.
Pete Steinberg
I don't think it's wise to advertise "speakeasy". You gotta try not to get famous doing this.
La Tonya Burton
I had an awesome time last night.love this club!! Thank youuu
Novena Carmel
Best in the west!
Jerel Walliser
Rode my bike here from Hermosa. My backpack has an extra shirt, my lock and my bike light and the bouncer won't let me...No back packs.

HORRIBLE, RUDE, NEVER AGAIN! I showed my ID to the guy at the door (I'm 33) and started to walk inside. However, I didn't get to go any further because I had a small backpack with my towel and sunscreen from the beach and he said that was not allowed and could I bring it to my car. I said I could not because I was here on vacation and had walked from my hotel. HELLO! This is a bar on the Venice Beach Boardwalk where most people have clearly been at the beach all day and are going to have bags (or purses that were much bigger than my little beach bag.) I told him that was the stupidest thing I'd ever heard and went down to the street to Larry's which had a better view, friendlier staff, and no ridiculous "rule" about allowing backpacks inside. AND as I was walking out of Larry's I saw a guy with a backpack clearly let inside without a hassle. WTF Townhouse? You are losing business because your bouncer clearly has never worked at a beach bar before.
