Review Three Flames Mongolian Bar-b-q - Los Angeles

I'm not gonna lie to you. The food can get very expensive really quick. The main question is, 'is it worth it'? Yes. Yes it is. So much so that I am willing to pay that premium for a delicious meal. You simply let the owner of the shop know what two meats you'd like (ask for more if you'd like, but bring your wallet with you), you pick out the vegetables you'd like on your own, and let the cooking commence will all kinds of flavor. If it's busy, service can be very slow. Mainly because the owner handles all the orders and the cooking and the so on and so forth.

not *just* great food....but the owner runs the place, cooks, sets the table, entertains you with charming stories and sarcasm. she's awesome.

Was invited to dinner and ended up at Three Flames Mongolian. It has been in business since 1973, that should be testimony enough. It is located in a small shopping center so keep your eyes open or it is easily missed. Barbra was so nice and accommodating to our party of 4, she collects your requested meat(s) (Chicken, Pork or Beef) then you add your favorite vegetables and sauces and she puts it on the grill adds some of her special sauce and the end results are mouth watering. Stop in for lunch or dinner you will leave with a full stomach and a smile on your face. Until next time Barbra, thank you for a great experience and tasty food.

5 out 5 for the authenticity of the ingredients and the fashion in which your serving is prepared. Barbara is engaging and charming to every customer. Don't be fooled by the humble "hole in the wall" setting, the overall experience is worth your time and the money spent.

If you're looking for a dining experience that combines ambiance, service, and exceptional food, look no further than Three Flames Mongolian Bar-B-Q. The restaurant's cozy ambiance, adorned with Mongolian artifacts, created a warm and inviting atmosphere. The service was prompt and attentive, and the staff was eager to share their knowledge of Mongolian cuisine. As for the food, it was a revelation! Each dish was bursting with flavors, and the attention to detail in presentation was remarkable. A truly memorable dining experience!

A great portion and very fresh! Didn’t feel gross or heavy after eating it. I feel like it needed something though, but overall solid. The woman there was very kind and also very educational.

Barbara, the owner and chef of The Flames is a one-woman whirlwind of awesomeness. She cooks everything by hand and it is AH-mazing! I've had Mongolian barbecue, but nothing of this quality and caliber. My fiancé and I decided on the chicken and between the mound of vegetables and sauces, just wow! Be forewarned, it's just her in the restaurant and no one else, so when it's busy it can be a bit of a wait, but believe me it's worth every moment. This is one of those LA gems that one hopes stays local-supported, yet I want everyone to try this place. And Barbara is a wonderful lady. She's not bragging when she tells you how good her cooking is, because it's the TRUTH!

Food is very delicious, especially the pork. The owner is super nice and cool. I went there alone at an awkward time (around 3) so I was basically the only customer. We had very nice conversations and I ended up finishing what I planned to save for late dinner lol. Definitely worth a try!

The food is amazing as always! The restaurant is very small and can get steamy- but worth every bite! You MUST try the Shao Bing- Here's to another 50 years!!

Big portion, good spicy flavour. The owner is very friendly, we had a nice chat with her.

We love Three Flames! The food is delicious and fresh. The staff is friendly. The whole place is a labor of love by an owner who has ran this restaurant for 45 years! She will only sell and retire if someone is willing to continue working the authentic handmade grill from Taiwan and not replace it with yet another coffee shop. Go and enjoy!

Great food but don't go on Fridays. The Host is rude and lazy to get you items on the menu that have to be made by her and not the guy cooking your food on the Wok. The other Host is much nicer and friendlier.

Great "hole in the wall" place to eat. Super tasty, big portions, and great service!

Tell all you know to go & support this wonderfully delicious family owned restaurant. Great food, great service at a remarkably sensible price. I moved to Hawaii and crave my Mongolian bbq daily!!!!!

Been going here for at least ten years.

I used to love this place. My last review was 4-stars. The last few times there was Fox News blaring from an overhead TV. Not the ambiance I'm going for.
