this was a unique experience for me. essentially they bring a large can of boiling broth, which can be divided into two different broths. My party of three we had three, Szechuan pepper, mushroom and miso. mushroom was the best. then you order veggies and meats and noodles and cook them in the broth and eat them with rice and sauces. we really didn't understand the concept and that's ended up ordering too many things to our bill was $130 for three people. we ordered three veggies into chickens in retrospect we could have ordered one veggie and one chicken. have a minimum $15 per person and now that makes sense.

In A Nutshell: -Mizu 212 is a shabu shabu restaurant in Sawtelle. -If you are looking for a hot pot in the area this is a good choice. -The price is high, but the food is pretty good here. -You get a decent amount of veggies, seafood & beef enough to share for two people. -Their sake & beer selection is adequate too. Overall, you can sit along the center island enjoying your shabu shabu in individual pots.

Excellent well ran friendly Shabu Shabu hot pot resturant. High quality meats and veggies with organic options. Great place for first timers or veterans ZZ more Japanese style than Chinese (you get hot water you flavor wirh various things if you want or keep it simple to just enjoy the food you cook). Gluten free, vegetarian, and vegan no problem. Can handle most allergy or food intolerance issues. No reservations unless you want a table that seats four together, otherwise all counter seating. Restrooms. Parking lot out back, sometimes pay on the evenings. Another lot across street under brick building. Some meter parking. Credit cards OK.

After seeing this place closed for over a year it was nice to see the pots boiling around several tables, far apart from each other. Service was very attentive- refilling our teas and making our dipping sauce (while other hotpot places have unreasonably returned to pre-covid stations of build-your-own condiment sauce mixes). Appreciated the fresh seasonal veggies and quality meats. Wish the broth could have been more than just kelp and water. Or add more broth options.

Located right on the corner of Sawtelle and La Grange. Parking can be tricky to find, it's either street or there's a paid lot on the other side of La Grange. The pros: Very nice and clean atmosphere. Mostly bar seating with a few tables scattered throughout, probably not ideal for large parties unless you don't mind being spread out. Staff is friendly and helpful. The food is delicious. Probably some of the best cuts of beef I've had at a shabu shabu place. Rather than getting large portions of one type, grab small plates of their variety and see what you like best! The cons most people may have: No flavored broth. People want their sodium and options. I personally didn't mind as it let me taste the different flavors of the meat better. The cost. Because of the smaller portions with a slightly higher price point I feel like the cost is a tiny bit on the high end. It definitely means this will be more of an occasional dinner rather than a usual spot.

This place has been in place for awhile now. It has been the first place I experienced the joys of Shabu Shabu dining. I still hold it as a minimal standard for what this type of meal should entail. Granted just recently it has changed hands in management the quality in ingredients have not suffered. Maybe the quantity a bit but the decor and process still holds true from way back. The place is minimalist stools and a wrap around food bar. It has one big event room for semi large party and a couple of tables. Just recently the menu has changed under the new management to include organic food items (still taste the same) The brewed ponzu is a level above and the Goma sauce is the on point. Not sweet at all allowing the flavor of the meat to shine through. I tried the grass fed beef option (small, standard and large) The standard should get you through but if you want your grub on Large will do. Felix the cat is still hanging on the wall. Glad the new management left that well alone. :) Service is still good and friendly. I will miss however the lady that makes the dipping sauces to specification.

A rather upscale shabu shabu experience. I'm personally not a fan of the flavorless broth approach, but the available sauces and seasoning did a decent job. Overheard that this restaurant will be under new management soon so take my review with a grain of salt :)

I finished the whole combination meal by myself. Add side order beef. Expensive but all good quality food, especially seafood.

Always our go-to place for shabushabu and each time still amazed by how energetic their hostess was! You choose the type and size of your meat (well, or seafood), regular or organic veggies (customizable), and udon or glass noodles. Whether you prefer seasame paste or ponzu + yuzu sauces, the dippings were just addictive. Thank you for treating us with homemade peanuts and apple pies!

We were wanting hot pot style for dinner and googled this place. Great ratings and it was close by where we stayed. It was busy when we arrived and luckily was seated within 10 minutes. It’s different and a little pricey than I’m used to but the food portions was perfect for us. I think they were short staffed and there was one server and two bus staff. The server forgot our request for water refill and a fork. I think they just needed more servers since the restaurant was busy.
