Had the afternoon tea and added soup. My companion had the same but with salad.
For tea, we had the rooibos, which was excellent, and the milk oolong, which was a tad weak but also excellent.
The tomato soup was good. But overall, I’d say the food was quite generic and unremarkable. Nothing you couldn’t fix at home or buy at the grocery store.
It was a cute and pleasant experience, and it costs much less than other high tea places, $25-35 depending on what you get. We definitely had fun here, the crowd and staff were all friendly and in good spirits.
I would not get the tea tower here again, but I would go back just for tea. I did try to buy blooming tea to take home, but they told me they only sell mango and peach dry. Would return to buy cool blooming tea if they would sell it to me.

It was a nice place to hang out with girls.
They have a book of tea menu, although many of them were not available. Still it was nice to have variority choice.
The tea quality was great.
Afternoon tea set was actually not bad. My expectation was pretty low after reading some reviews about their quality of food, but it was okay.
I think the vibe can be better though. Some merchandises they displayed to sell look cheap and a bit off. I’m not sure you can find luxurious afternoon place around LA, but I wish better vibes than this.
But thinking about the price I pay, it’s not bad.

A nice place to hang out with your friends. I came here with some friends for Sunday brunch, it was cute and sweet. I ordered the soup and a pot of tea. The soup was delish. Parking is in a structure down the street, which is kind of difficult to get in and get out of. Warning: they cut the crusts off of the bread if you order sandwiches. If you like your crusts, tell them. Also the sandwich bread seems to be basic white bread. Like bargain store bread lol.
I did notice that all the employees are Latinx. I’m not sure who the owner of the tea room is but it I hope they treat them well. Overall a very good experience. Would come again.

Love the tea selection & menu selection. Ordered celebration afternoon tea sets for both my friend and myself. Loved the cute elephant teapots & the chocolates. The snacks are just so so. Real diverse selection of loose leaf tea in big tins so I bought 2 ozs of organic wuyishan Oolong to try out at home since it smells really nice…

$22 for a tray of finger sandwiches (cucumber creme, salmon lox on sourdough, strawberry chicken, and eggsalad) a fresh scone with berries and creme fresh and a macaroon and strawberry sugar cookie with a pot of tea of your choice! Sot outside to hear the waterfall and enjoy the shade in afternoon tea. ✨🍵💕🍰✨

I like the location of this Chado Tea Room in what was formerly the adjacent Japanese American National Museum's gift shop/cafe.
I treated my former roommate to Afternoon Tea for Two using a coupon.
It included the Afternoon Tea Tier - a tower of goodies of sandwiches, scones and a slice of cake. I chose the Chado salad consisting of Mixed Baby Greens and Viniagrette with toast as my starter. The special dessert was the Maritius Tea Float - basically an ice cream float with tea instead of soda.
However, the food tasted mediocre and I cannot recommend, but the teas were high-grade and brewed perfectly.
A-ok for a serene and beautiful place to have a quality pot of tea in the heart of Little Tokyo; get your sweet tooth and savory fix elsewhere. I’ve also been to the Chado Tea Room in Hollywood and I’d say the ambience, service and tea brewing technique is better at this Little Tokyo location.
However, the quality of the loose leaf teas is very good — I regularly purchase various kinds of Chinese puerh teas from this store and brew them at home.

Chado Tea Room is super cute! Located on the corner of Alameda & Central, adjacent to JANM. Wonderful variety of teas, very relaxing ambience (only issue is the street traffic but that's DTLA for you! Lol), staff were super helpful & has a nice cozy feeling with lots of space between tables. Will definitely come back again!

The seating outside by the waterfall is lovely. The tea was delicious and my scone was good. Although after my scone began to cool, it got a bit hard so it made me suspicious that it was microwaved and not baked to get it warm. The cream and the marmalade was very nice.
I am taking away one star because of the teapot. There were three other tables being served at the same time we were there. They all got lovely porcelain teapots with floral accents. Two ladies at another table had floral porcelain tea pots that were shaped like elephants.
This is the tea pot we got.
Mind you we had two pots of tea and they were both served in this very crude clay pot. When I go to a tea room, I would like a slightly elegant experience. Not a teapot that looks like they bought it at Big Lots.

A snazzier place to meet up and chat over some tea, with friends or family. They provide a GREAT variety of teas from an orange blossom green tea to a coconut infused black tea with an assortment of finger foods as well. We also discussed with them about our allergies before ordering, and they were very helpful with the matter.

Let me just say this place was amazing. I went on Sep 10th for my birthday meetup. My friends were quite shy and unsure of this establishment ( so was I ). The waiter was kind to explain the experience we are about to embark and helped us understand the teas we were about to choose. The waiter was very understanding, that I couldn't have cottage cheese and salmon, so he offered me ham and cheese. To my friends and my delight, we were all in awe on the great tasting food we began to consume. The teas were exquisite. The only thing I would recommend, is that we can choose our type of sandwiches. My friend enjoyed the tomato bisque, we all had a little taste and were in love. We all plan to return again. Thank you for making our first experience a memorable one.

Did the Afternoon Tea for 4 on Groupon. Paid only $50 for what normally is a $120 thing. They waiter was pretty knowledgeable about the teas and there was also a wide selection of teas to choose from. Other than the small sample cups of tea ( a selection from light to dark teas) each person also gets to choose one pot of tea for themselves. Along with that, you get a 4 mini sandwiches, scones, small dessert biscuits and 2 mini macarons.

They have different types of tea, but I recommend the chamomile tea, it tastes so good!

There were so many amazing teas there!! I had the celebration afternoon tea with a group of friends and all the food was delicious. I personally drank like an entire pot of Alice's wonder tea (it has caramel and chocolate chip!)

Enjoy watching the tea balls unfurl after placing them in the glass tea pots and have a few scones while you're there! This place is a great place to study and they have nice outside seating.

I planned to celebrate my wife's birthday at Chado Tea Room and realized the day of the event that I had not completed the reservations and they were not prepared for our party of 10. The staff found a way to make it happen against all odds and it ended up being one of the best experienced. The gentleman who served us was an absolute charm. Thank you for making my wife's birthday amazing!
