Nice place for dinning. Food is good. Service is very good. Just tell them what you want and they will work in it. We order whole fried fish from the chef's specialty. We ask them to separate the sauce and waiters said "fish will not taste good coz we need to cook the sauce together with the fish to make it taste. We told him that the kids gonna eat that too and its spicy. He said we can make it not spicy. The fish is awesome. Cheng Du Sizzling Rice soup is good too.

Was stuck in rush hour traffic and noticed this restaurant and someone walking out with takeout. Decided to stop in for dinner. Haven’t had this good Chinese food since I lived in New York City almost 15 years ago. The food was amazing and service was excellent. We also enjoyed the cozy, quiet ambience. Look forward to returning again soon!

We ordered takeout from Cheng Du and every single thing was fresh, hot and absolutely delicious. Some of the best Chinese food I've had on the west side. We got: Hot and sour soup, vegetable fried rice, moo shu pork, hot eggplant a la chung king (my favorite!), Spicy dried string beans, hot spice shrimp with tangerine sauce.

I started working down in Santa Monica and I was looking for a little place to go to for lunch on the regular. After trying a few places, a co-worker recommended Chengdu so I tried it out. I have to say that it is an excellent Chinese restaurant. I love their lunch specials, the food is full of flavor and good, the service is great, and the pricing is excellent. I come to Chengdu 2-3 times a week and I still haven't tried everything on the menu but everything I have had has been delicious and well portioned. If you're looking for a Chinese food restaurant to make your regular little local place, at a great price, Chengdu is what you're looking for.

This is our second time to dine in here for dinner and both times were excellent! They start you off with a pot of tea and wonton chips (free). The portions are large enough to share and we upgraded our dish to a "dinner special" for an additional $3.95 (This means cup of soup, an egg roll, and a fried shrimp). Our entire bill was less than $17 and we left stuffed! Super tasty, great service and excellent prices!!

Really fantastic food for more than fair prices. The restaurant itself is very mellow, but the service is fast and attentive. My wife and I are always treated well at Cheng Du. Love the complimentary hot tea and wanton strips! I recommend dining in, as you seem to get more food for the same price that way.

On Christmas day, a secular Jewish girl and a New Thought Christian girl walk into a Chinese restaurant. Sounds like a set up for a joke. But in actuality, it was a great place for great Chinese food. Excellent "Three Flavors in Sizzling Hot Platter" - shrimp, scallops, steak, vegetables with noodles. Great Curry Chicken and Brown Rice. It's all good on a crowded holiday night or on a less full night.
