Review Monte Alban - Los Angeles

Everytime I come to this place I always order the same dish. No one beats the camarones a la díabla, so far this has been my favorite place. I highly recommend this place! It’s a very friendly environment, costumer service is great!

Great for groups and enough room for kids. We had the tamales de mole, empanada de amarillo, queso fundido, and all were delicious. Definitely come here with an open mind because Oaxacan cuisine is its own thing.

Nice little place to eat. The food was OK but the cafe de olla was excellent. Next time, I am in LA. I will come here just for the coffee and pan.

I LOVE this restaurant! This authentic Oaxacan restaurant is a precious LA gem with amazing customer service and delicious Mexican food. The servers speak both English and Spanish and are always ready to help you in any way they can. The food and drinks are always delicious and much tastier than any Oaxacan restaurant that I’ve tried in Los Angeles. Parking is can be a little tough since it’s located on a strip mall but nearby parking meters are available as well. If you’re in the area, I highly recommend stopping here for an authentic and delicious Mexican meal. I’m a big fan of their delicious Jamaica and mole. So good!

This place has the fest mexican food in all of LA! If you are hungry, make sure you try the Molcajete Grill Plater brought to you on an piping hot lava stone thingy. There are several you can choose from but my favorite is the regular one. Its enough for two or one really hungry person like myself. Or the Carnes Monte Alban which is two types of Oaxacan meats. Very delicious. If you feel like you're a little more adventurous, try the mole made from spices and chocolate or the Clayuda which is like a pizza but Oaxacan style. Also the pozole is really good and the tacos de barbacoa, which are goat tacos. And of course for dessert, try the best homemade flan or the cactus icecream. Mmmmmmmm, guarantees you'll leave happy. This is my favorite restaurant!

Came here for the specialty: mole. Ordered the dark Oaxacan black mole and the red spicy mole. Enjoyed both. The black mole was a great blend of spices although the amount of chocolate made it a bit too sweet. The red spicy mole was very mild and excellent. When we mixed the two moles it mellowed out the sweetness of the black mole and gave it a little kick. They only serve it on chicken breast but I wish I had the option of requesting dark meat instead, especially since the chicken was a bit dry. Lots of mezcal drinks to choose from and they let me sub in tequila. The dessert was underwhelming so I would say go elsewhere for that.

Delicious food! From the ceviche to the various mole dishes, all are well presented and very tasty!!! The restaurant is open late (10pm), has plenty of parking available, and is impeccably clean. The service is outstanding too. Highly recommended!

Great Oaxacan restaurant! If you want some authentic Oaxacan food, then this is the place to eat. I came here for breakfast on my birthday and loved it. Reminds me of my mom's cooking.

I'm not expert of Mexican food, so when in USA I tried time to time to try it, as in my country we don't have much Mexican restaurants. I enjoyed this place very much, I choose it thanks to Google reviews and I was really happy that I made this choice. For me it's highly recommended place, they have one amazing dish, which come in hot stone bowl, it cost something around 35 USD, but it was so fulfilling that two of us had challenge to finish (of course before we had some appetizers and share mole).

I went here for lunch with my girlfriend and I was completely satisfied with my experience. I ordered the Camarones a la Diabla and it was amazing. Fresh taste, perfect spices, and very fulfilling. The shrimp was cooked and sautéed to perfection. Made me want to over eat because it was so delicious. The staff was friendly and very attentive. I will say, don’t expect fast service because their food is made to order. It took a little longer than expected but because of how great the taste was, it was definitely worth the wait. My only complaint is the freezing cold bathroom but that is no reason to give this place less than 5 stars.

The food was beyond delicious. I'm vegetarian and they can definitely accommodate some items in the menu for vegetarians... the service was great and the beans in pasta were really good, even the cocktails were different and tasty. I would totally go back sometime soon.

My first words, after trying the black beans, were, "Oh my gosh, this is delicious." The black beans here are absolutely devine. Over the last 15-20 years, I have tried multiple varieties of black beans. I have not liked one of them. Until last night. All the food was delicious. The staff and ambiance were wonderful. A must try!

Service was good, prices were fine. However the food was bland and not very good - everything tasted burned and smokey. Not sure if it was an off night but would not recommend.

What a great discovery! I was greeted by empanadas and Mexican bread displayed in front. I expected the usual mediocre fare but everything was fantastic! The chips were perfect, salsa a bit saltier than I'm used to but totally irresistible. I ordered the prickly cactus pear water, the small menudo came with all the traditional condiments and handmade tortillas, absolutely delicious, next time I'll order the large. For dessert the fried plantains were on spot. Can't wait to go back

I think this place is great! The food has always been good, however; I wish they had the taco truck style tacos

The best Oaxacan food in town! I've been going there for 12 years and the food has always been amazing! If you haven't been there, you are missing out!

The dishes were too expensive for their quality and taste. Not worth it.

Buena atencion, rica y tradicional sin mencionar los postres y las sabrosas margaritas

Very bad service. They overcharged me for items I didn't order/rude service/advertise items for a certain price on the menu but ring you up at a higher price, tell them and they'll say their menus simply aren't updated and won't honor the price they advertise--like what??

Service leaves something to be desired. The food was decent.

Corn tortillas are really good. Had fajitas ... terribly salty, and the veggies were cooked to a mush. Tortilla chips are too thick. The rice and beans were really good. The service was meh... very slow.
