Review Cho Oishi - Los Angeles

Honestly, it's a great restaurant. The waiters and waitress are nice and very helpful! Everything was good the only thing I'd complain about would be the fact that it was HOT 🔥 I was sweating waiting for water and after it was still hot Other than that, it was nice. The price was reasonably set. Just wished my chicken Katsu curry had a bit more chicken, too much rice and curry, not enough chicken. Everything else was pretty good.

Stopped here on our tour of Hollywood and have to admit the poke bowl and sushi were good. The food was made pretty quick. Our server was friendly and welcoming. Could’ve been more attentive but it seems they were short staffed possibly. I recommend for a good variety of Japanese dishes and sushi 🍱

Delicious, friendly , great service and it wasn't to crowded on our visit. Hollywood Blvd right down the street. Vibe was a good one.

So we ended up here entirely on a whim, no knowledge of it prior to literally sitting down. And I must say I’m absolutely shocked by some of the reviews here, and I’m thinking that some things about the staff was a matter of cultural differences. Our waitress today was a delight, she wasn’t the best at speaking English but she definitely understood us 100% - so yes you may not get a conversation out of the wait staff but once again this wasn’t an American restaurant. The genuine sparkle in our waitress’s eyes when we complimented the staff transcends any language barrier. I came in today wheelchair bound, the only minor issues we had were caused by other guests. My group was seated within minutes. Our group ordered Two orders of Tonkatsu Ramen, karaage chicken, the A5 Kobe beef nigiri, and a sushi roll I can’t remember off the top of my head, everything was absolutely delicious. Was it a little pricey? Yeah. But also between the quality and the fact that it’s literally on Hollywood blvd right next to the Dolby Theatre and etc. Like genuinely I do not what people would expect there, but also it was worth every cent. My friend, whom had the karaage, said it was literally the best chicken he has ever eaten.

The sushi was so fresh! I was craving some salmon and the waitress suggested the orange blossom sushi roll - absolutely delicious. The one roll filled me up! I’d definitely come back and try some other dishes, the ramen someone else ordered looked delicious!

Food was excellent. I tried the ramen. Service is ok, they look understaffed or new to this. We were still served correctly.

This place was great we ran in to the bar waiting for our table to be set. The gentleman was very generous. The food quality was alright and nothing too special but the Decorations! At the end of the night we were charged 150$ for sushi in the Hollywood walk of frame pretty good right. Sure that you can find a better place and waaayy higher quality food but something you need to know it a quality of SERVICE. Thanks for your service guys. 10/10

The environment is lovely, it’s super cozy with outstanding service. The appetizers were fresh and flavorful. I love the edamame and the sushi was great. Delectable Yellowtail and the Tempura Cheesecake and green tea ice cream was a great combination for dessert , I absolutely loved everything about this restaurant and I can’t wait to revisit.

In all my years I have never been to a restaurant with such delicious food and such impeccable service. We ordered tempura, Albacore sashimi, baked sushi and for dessert tempura cheesecake and mochi ice cream. The tempura came with rice, miso soup and salad, and the salad had the most delicious ginger dressing, as well as the tempura sauce having a hint of ginger to its flavour! The albacore sashimi was delectable, very tender and melted in my mouth. The baked sushi was also delicious, as well as the desserts. The chef was even nice enough to give us a bit of extra sushi, and the servers were extremely friendly and helpful! Highly recommend, and this restaurant deserves AT LEAST 4.5 stars.

Had a lovely dinner before we went to a Christmas Program at Dolby Theatre (in same complex). Beautiful decor with peaceful ambience. The food was pretty good, and our server Praew, was very sweet. The restaurant was pretty busy, which I think impacted her ability to provide us with efficient service ( a bit of a delay at times and she was hurried). Overall, a great experience.

It is not the best but at the same time you will not be disappointed. I’m not a sushi fan so I can’t really say bad of them.

We went there for a quick dinner before the show at the Dolby Theater and we were not disappointed. The crew was the best part of it, but the food was yummy, too.

Great service. Very friendly and welcoming staff. Food was served in a timely manner. Appetizers were delicious, ramen was decent and desserts were amazing!

Amazing sushi and Japanese food! We got sushi rolls and poke bowls and they were outstanding. The food was so fresh and wonderfully prepared. 10/10 recommend. The drinks were yummy too. It was a bit pricey but it's Hollywood Boulevard so if you're expecting cheap you're in the wrong spot. High quality

Stopped in for a quick snack. The sushi rolls were really bad. The nori was tough, it was old or they did not toast the seaweed. The rice was mushy. No flavor. I didn't try the other items, but don't get the sushi.

$40 for two plates of sushi I'm not much of a critic but my goodness this was a very unsatisfying meal. I swear I literally had a scallop roll that tasted like mayo for the most part. The shrimp tempura was an embarrassing sad looking plate. Save your money and go to Johnny Rockets . At least you would of enjoyed your meal.

Our experience here for lunch was very positive. No vegan restaurants within a mile, we were bumming. We took a chance on Cho Oishi. Our waitress was extremely helpful and even gave e a cool gadget to help me to better grab noodles with chopsticks. I'd come here again. If I had to...lol.

Okay for a quick bite, I expected better display and taste based upon reviews. Little disappointed but overall okay

Above and beyond excellent customer service and great sushi.

Just got back from eating there. Awesome place to eat. I came here for dinner during my stay in LA and the folks there treated me with respect and were very prompt in making sure they were meeting my needs. Definitely will be back here when I visit LA again.

The service here was a bit more attentive than most Japanese restaurants and the food is delicious. I am definitely going back when we are back in LA.

Unfortunately, didn't get the opportunity to taste the food. Several servers walked by us, we never was offered a drink!!! So out the door we went...

Our family of five enjoyed a fantastic sushi and fried rice lunch at Cho Oishi while exploring Hollywood on vacation. We had a wide assortment of rolls. The Sex on the Moon roll was outstanding (creamy due to a bit of cream cheese...so if cream cheese in rolls is not your thing, you may not love this one). The shrimp tempura and spider rolls were fantastic. The No Name roll was the only one that was a little lacking in creativity and taste.

The service was great -- our server was extremely friendly and attentive -- and made sure we left with cold ice water in to go cups to keep us hydrated as we explored the Walk of Fame.

This is right above the Chinese Theatre and a beautifully done up place. We were celebrating our anniversary and so we decided to go for the Japanese barbeque.
The accompanying wine was Villa Pozzi and I loved it!
The Barbeque is humongous! If 2 ppl are sharing, you get a wok divided into 2, with your choice of base soup, I chose Tom Yum. Then you are given veggies or seafood/meat, based on your choice, which you semi cook in the broth and then savour with accompanies, rice/noodles/vermicelli and different sauces.
The experience is so different!
We also ordered for a veg tempura but that was quite average. The batter was very thick and tasteless.
Other than that, this place is a must try for all seafood lovers.

We had the sex on the moon roll and it was by far one of the best sushi rolls I've ever eaten!

So why the hell do I keep coming across places like Cho Oishi? No, Cho Oishi doesn’t suck, but…damn…it’s not a place you’re going out of your way to find either. Go ahead, take a look at the menu. Scroll down and click on “What Should I Get”. Look at what they have offer, and you’ll see what I—zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

O-o-oh (cough) sorry. I’m awake. I’m awake.
