Review The Pikey - Los Angeles

I can’t believe this place has been around for so long and I just found out about it!!! The Pikey is such a fun yet romantic British themed restaurant. The menu isn’t huge but it WILL hit all of your senses!! Every dish has a little bit of something special, and very vegetarian friendly! My favorites so far are their amazing hand tossed mixed NUTS, ENDIVE SALAD, VEGGIE CURRY and ROASTED SALMON. My server Allie (as well as the others) was very knowledgeable and friendly. OH AND: How cute is that patio covered with beautiful flowers! AND dog friendly! I think my dog was treated better than me haha!!!!

Welcome pigeon! Loved my waitress. She was awesome and was super sweet. I ended up with the lobster scramble with the cheese sauce on the side. I also had an earl gray tea. The scramble was beyond! Sooo good!

I have to give the Pikey five stars because I remember it when it was the Coach and Horses, half the size and on the border of being a questionable hive of scum and villainy so much that you couldn't escape once you walked in. The new shop is well put together. A wide variety of healthy food and they can make you just about any drink. Excellent share foods and snacks - we had three orders if fries and other sharables. And they serve late into night -til 130 am- after shows at The Comedy Store or local venues. The wait staff is knowledgeable and kind of fun playing a little Christmas music and singing along. Pleasant dark and cozy.

A slice of Europe in LaLaLand! Love the attention to quality from the salads to the cocktails. Great value! Really impressed with the seared squid salad and the dedication to organic seasonal ingredients. I've been transported to the U.K. ON SUSNET!

Walking into The Pikey is like transporting yourself into the U.K. From the atmosphere, the waitstaff, interior design, and food it gives off a vibe that reeks of British culture. The service was a "wee" bit subpar. None the less I had a great experience and highly recommend this place.

Had such a great time. Posh drinks, great nibbles. Certainly a memorable birthday. The waitress was great. Brought me a birthday nibble with a candle and said something like "everyone needs a wish on their birthday". Will definitely be back when I'm in the area again. Thanks for wonderful atmosphere and a great birthday night!

First time here with the band Whatever We Are, it’s like an English Pub, great music, two sides: one side has dim lighting and the bar and one where it could be for a family dinner near the kitchen. Seats are awesomely comfy. Bathroom is clean! Waitress is on point with refilling drinks, even hot drinks. Outfits are finesse. Great service overall!

This was our first time at Pikey, and we had a great time and will definitely return. Pikey is on Sunset Boulevard and has a London pub atmosphere--very lively, with music playing and a lot going on. The menu is a good one, with lots of variety. I had a great beef burger, and others in our group had salads and deviled eggs, which they liked. They have a full bar--I had a dog fish IPA. We had no trouble getting a booth for four at about 7 PM on a Thursday evening. Service was personable and efficient.

Interesting place. It's like a really good dive bar but it a restaurant as well. A little dark, limited menu and focused drinks. My only complaint was that my VERY large salad was quite funny of grit. It seemed like the lettuce wasn't fully washed which was a disappointment since it was a tasty salad. The lentil cakes were enjoyed and we had no complaints about that dish. The staff greeted us and we're very accommodating.

Better outside than inside I thought but it’s Hollywood and who wants to be inside on Sunset strip? They sell draught Guinness

After walking for too long I stumbled across this bar to have a quick beer then be on my way, but ended up staying for three beers and ordering food too.<br/><br/>Friendly staff and good (albeit spicy af Super Bowl-special chicken wings) food and at reasonable prices given L.A standards.<br/><br/>I’d go back in a heart beat

I come here mostly on Sunday's for the Roast they serve. That's not "pot roast" for the Americans in the audience - that's a British Sunday Roast Dinner which is either Beef, Pork or Chicken with all the trimmings such as Yorkshire pudding, gravy, roast vegetables followed (ideally) by sticky toffee pudding!<br/>Can unequivocally say it's the best destination in LA for that type of meal. Of Brit pubs/restaurants come close. The Pikey "knocks em into a corner!"<br/>Go see for yourself...

Negative experience at The Pikey. What an unfortunate experience, The Pikey. We decided to kick off the three day weekend at our local pub, walking distance from our home. Since we had never been, we couldn’t wait to claim this place for our new local hangout. Unfortunately, that will never happen, as the atmosphere and service was so rude, I’ve never experienced anything like this in L.A. We arrived early in the evening, 5:30-5:45, and the place was nearly empty. But we could not get anyone to wait on us. After 30 min we still did not have a drink so we finally gave up, after speaking with a waiter, asking for service, talking to the bartender, and all of them with attitude. The entire experience was depressing. Makes a regular really miss the Coach and Horses, which was a very friendly place. We took a stroll down the Sunset Strip to various other places, and had a wonderful time, in professional establishments. I don’t understand an overpriced, major attitude dive bar?

Pork Belly!!. I just finished Lunch at The Pikey, it was fantastic!! I had the slow roasted pork belly sandwich with fries - it was perfect! Super tasty and satisfying. My friend had a chicken salad and said that was great too. Good, comfortable room and the service was excellent.

Food is good and the ambient is really cozy. Besides that, the owners are really concerned about making their costumers happy, for example: one night I complained about the valet, who crashed my car in the previous month. Not only did they change the valet service but they also took care of our bill that night, even though we hadn't requested something like that. I'm really well impressed!

Finally, a great and unique place near my house. Awesome squid appetizer, an exceptional burger, great chicolat parfait. Am so glad i found this place.

Here's the deal. Great food. Great booze. Great space. Good times. Hot people.  Weird people. Smooth moves. Top shelf. Low rent. Sunset Blvd. Lamb shank.  Back Room.  3 Philosophers.  Cool and abundant 'Exit' signs.  Doormen who can talk.  Vinegar Chicken. Valet. Bourbon. Sultans. Skinny Suspenders. Me. You.  <br/><br/>It's as if the Coach and Horses had a cool older brother who still liked to party but also knew how cook and wear a tie.   The Pikey.<br/><br/>Do it to it.

Believe it or not, finding a British themed pub in Los Angeles is not as hard as you think.<br/><br/>I’ve been to a bunch of them in and around town. Molly Malone’s, Buchanan Arms. I mean, for real, they’re everywhere.<br/><br/>Would you bring a Brit to ‘em? Ehhh…maybe not. Though I’m sure they’re feeding into the Ex-Pat community something fierce.<br/><br/>Still, I’ve got to admit, my friend’s recommendation that we go to the Pikey on Sunset was a first rate choice, and just may be the best British-themed pub going.

The Pikey Happy Hour February 28th, 2014 By: Maren Swanson   I used visit the old Coaches and Horses bar in Hollywood often and part of me was kind of sad when it closed. It was my go-to dive bar. The dark wood, seedy booths and extremely dim lighting were an inviting combination of elements that embraced it's 70+ year old tenancy. I used to play video trivia in the corner and sip on well drinks with friends, and I was never underdressed. The only part I found frustrating was the fact that they only had a cash bar and I forgot that most of the time.   So after a short time grieving period, I was ready to check out it's newly named spot, The Pikey. If you usually drive past The Pikey on Sunset, you may notice their small sign advertising happy hour 4pm - 6pm. Their website mentions that they serve only organic, local, farm produce, free range, cruelty-free meat and chicken - whoa, that's a mouthful. I had two questions: a) how the frig is their happy hour and b) how the heck was it diff

The golden battered snapper is crispy on the outside and tender and juicy on the inside, and the thrice cooked chips (what we Yanks refer to as “fries”) are gobsmackingly good.  I’m also a fan of the Curried Cauliflower, Mary’s Vinegar Chicken, and the brilliant Crispy Pig’s Ear Salad with Young Kale and Mustard. For dessert, I suggest getting either the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Butterscotch and Cl

I'd never been to Coach & Horses, the dive bar that was on Sunset in the space that has now been transformed to the two month old The Pikey Cafe & Bar, so I have no basis for comparisan, but the new space is fantastic, as I found out this weekend.  When lifestyle blogger Whitney Lader sent an invite for a media tasting, to check out their newly launched brunch service - I couldn't resist. Girl has mad talent picking places that have the perfect storm of cool venue, great cocktails, and fab food - and The Pikey is no exception. The new space, as the name states, is a hybrid of cafe and bar - divided into three sections: sunlit dining room, cavernous main bar with red booths, and private back bar.  The cafe area has a cool retro-luxe vibe with huge ornate gold-framed mirrors, rustic wood tables and chairs, and green booths along one wall, all leading up to an open kitchen in the back.  Where Chef Ralph Johnson, formerly executive chef of New York's Michelin-starred Spotted Pig, is at the

I spent last week at COLCOA (City of Lights, City of Angels), otherwise known as the French Film Festival in Los Angeles held at the Director’s Guild in Hollywood. I go almost every year as my version of a staycation, combining the fun of seeing foreign films debuting in the US with Question &amp; Answer dialogues with the directors, writers, and actors. Of the six films I saw, my two favorites were “ Haute Cuisine ” ( Saveurs du palais ) and “ What’s in A Name ” ( Le Prénom ). Best of all it’s only a 10 mile drive away and I always try new places to eat when I go. This year I found The Pikey . It was so good that throughout the week of the film festival, I went back four times! The word “Pikey” is slang for “traveler” as in the kind who are known for taking advantage of people, but in the case of this place, I would gladly volunteer to be used as a gastronomic guinea pig. Although it looks like an English pub from the outside, the food they serve here definitely has it’s roots in Los
The Happy Hour Tour
The Pikey is known for its elevated pub food – courtesy chef Ralph Johnson who helped kick off the nation’s gastropub craze at NYC’s Spotted Pig. With large plates like Eggplant, Tomato, & Lentil Curry w/ Punjabi Cornbread ($13) and British classic Fish & Chips ($14), I was sorry I didn’t go to the pub on an emptier stomach. Luckily, their Happy Hour small plates were just fine too – I enjoyed Snack of Champions: Smoked Bar Nuts ($3) and Pickled Vegetables ($4). Yum! JG was smart and showed up hungry – she enjoyed the Fish & Chips!<br/>
