Review Sanamluang Cafe - Los Angeles

Erik Suwandy
I've known this place since 1997, last time ate here around 2000. The taste still the same except the Cha Po, deep fried roasted pork was really hard, I can't even chew it and also the BBQ pork bit dark and didn't look fresh at all. The Best Fried shrimp cakes, love it & recommended. Pork Leg over rice also really good but bit too much fatty but still really good.

I came here for the first time a little more than a year ago. Today was my second visit. All of a sudden, I got cravings for duck noodle soup and decided to head to Thai Town today. Not many places serve it anymore. I used to go to Rodded, but I think they closed. Even Pa Ord stopped selling duck noodle. I've only ever ordered Sanamluang's duck noodle soup, so I don't know about other dishes. This place has fresh, perfectly textured meat and noodles. Personally, I loved the broth and felt that was perfectly seasoned. They even add veggies to it. I paid $16 for a huge bowl that could be two meals. Would definitely come back. A++++!

This food is amazing! Out in Thai town, it is very authentic and tasty. Their satay and pad Thai are addicting and their Thai tea is also very delicious. They had very clean bathrooms and even though they were short on staff, service and speed was great. Highly recommended.

Great authentic Thai restaurant in Los Angeles. Huge portions at very reasonable prices, efficient service.

Amazing and delicious is not enough The seafood soup was so good I invaded my moms wonton soup and it was so good. The egg-rolls are ok, but the Thai ice tea super good!!! So you know I’m coming back. Great service!!!

Green curry 10/10, got medium which wasn’t that spicy. Large quantities at an exceptional price. Definitely in my top 5 Thai restaurants

I’ve been eating in Sanam Luang since 1994 and the place is still the same Still busy even above 9pm The stir friend Glass noodle is awesome However, we order the Chinese brokoly with Crispy Pork, but the pork is not Crispy at all (Pa Ord in Sunset better) But this place is still the LEGEND! Very RECOMMENDED!

If you want some good thai food, this is the place to go. All the dishes we tried were amazing. When in doubt, get Spicy Noodle Soup, Pad Kee Mao, and Duck Over Rice. If you're still unsure, just ask them for their recommendation and they'll tell you right away what the famous dishes are. They come in large portion. You might have to wait 15-30 minutes outside. Definitely will visit again.

The service was good, the food here was great. The shrimp patty was amazing, and all the other food were well spiced and delicious. They also gave huge portions. She did say the portions were big, but for some reason we didn’t believe her and ordered multiple dishes anyway lol. It was all good though. The only thing bad about here is the flies. Hope they can fix this issue or something. That’s the only thing slowing down their greatness.

This restaurant stays open until pretty late in the night. Sanamluang is a no frills restaurant. Service is quick and the food is pretty tasty. The pad see ew noodles stuck together a bit more than I liked but the roast duck on rice was really good. The portions were a good size.

Big portions, very busy locations parking is a bit difficult to find. Food very delicious.

Super good food here. Opens late, great good, great service. Can't really ask for more. Their house noodle soup or boat noodles are great for the winter nights.

1/20/23: Had the Duck Salad (4.5*), the Fried Spare Ribs (4.25*), and the Pad Kee Mao (well prepared but I've never been that excited by Thai noodles, 4.0*)

The food is amazing and huge in size. We had pad kee mao and tom kha kai. We were super hungry and yet still couldn't finish it all, had to have the rest to go. Definitely recommend and will come back when we're in the area.

AHHHHH I FELL IN LOVE IN THIS PLACE! First of all the server who served us was REALLY NICE!! She was thoughtful and always come to check by and made sure that we have everything we need. I ordered the Spicy beef ramen and WOW-- I didn't expect that it will be a large bowl (lol). I had a hard time finishing it but it was realllly delicious! My family also enjoyed the food that they have ordered! The Panang was reallyyyy good! I can't describe their foods in words but I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PLACE! We would be very likely to drop by again if we have the time.

We went to this restaurant on recommendation of friends for a weekday dinner.

We were impressed by the English Library Look and hug tables decorated with candles and flowers. We started with ordering Green Curry that came along with Jasmine Rice and Prawn crackers that they served as restaurant compliments. Green curry was bit spicy but the flavors were busting out.

We then moved to order Shredded Lamb in Thai herbs which was the dish of the evening for me. Really soft lamb and wonderful mix of Thai herbs.

Last we ordered homemade rice noodles with Thai herbs and spices. I enjoyed the pad Thai noodles 👌

Overall it was a nice experience and along with zomato gold, it was good value for money.

Great have been coming here for decades for Thai soupy noodle fixes for years. They have a wisest selection available anywhere in Los Angeles from egg noodle to various thickness of rice noodles to even a short round almost bean sprout look alike noodle which is my favorite since I miss it from my childhood. Other dishes are all authentic with many regional specialties. The neighborhood has seen gentrification in recent years, the price has risen as well.

Asian people goes to Asian restaurant.
the best visit i've ever made after spending a whole day in Universal Studio Hollywood.
one thing for sure, they use too much oil but that's tolerate-able.

Almost As Good. Almost as good as the one in N. Hollywood. Beef Ball Noodle and Chicken with Mint Leaves on Rice were good, very tasty and flavorful. Shrimp Cakes were just so-so, they're not soft and spongy.
Cheap eat with good food.

Sanamluang Café sits almost caddy corner to Sapp. And though the Noodle Whore also wrote this place up , and though they seem to have a larger following than Sapp, it was previously off my radar. Burrito suggested I sample Sanamluang's pad see ew, a multicultural SE Asian dish with wide rice noodles, greens, and sliced meet. Who am I to say no? So we waltzed over, chilled for a little while as our team grew to three, and then casually ordered a plate of their PSE. Granted, Sanamluang has a large menu, and given the online adoration for this place, it's quite likely to be full of goodness. But again, we had our blinders on and our hearts set. I left Sapp sure that I would be hard pressed to find anything approaching the quality of their TBN. Sanamluang did a might fine job of dispelling that belief. The plate was generously topped with beautiful greens and juicy, effervescent strips of beef . A very wet serving, bites were indulgent explorations of a smooth and abundant coat of oil, gr

One of the popular open late Thai restaurant in Thai town. Most items on the menu are between $6 and $8, and you get the food pretty fast. Yes, the food is good. menu Koo Chai (3 pcs.) $4.75 Soft rice biscuit stuffed with Chinese vegetables, served with hot and sweet black sauce, choice of deep fried or steamed. I had a bite, it was good but too greasy. Shrimp Pad Thai $7.25 Small rice noodles soft fried with egg, shrimp and bean sprouts, topped with crushed peanut and green onion. Beef Pad Prik King $6.25 Fried chili with green bean, curry sauce, and beef. This was my entree. My beef was little tough but good flavor.
