Review Taylor's Steakhouse - Los Angeles

After being in LA on and off for 6 yrs, I had never heard of this restaurant. Honestly I avoid going anywhere downtown-ish..but this place was definitely worth any LA traffic. My husband and I saw it on The Lincoln Lawyer and I have to say it was one of the best meals we have had. The steaks were perfect. The ambiance is eclectic, just as in the show with the tufft booths, dim lighting and bold art work. The staff was prompt and courteous. The car was valet parked, but I am unsure if it was an option over parking yourself. Make sure to utilize the reservation option because you may be waiting a while. This is a place we will go to again!

I really love coming to this place. It's got an old-school vibe to it. I guess that is because it is old-school, it's been there since 1953 and the booths are spectacular. The food is delicious and the best prices you can imagine for the quality of the fare they offer and you can get a good drink from their bars. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is not a vegetarian or vegan or a pescatarian. Oh, and friendly service too.

Congratulations on celebrating 70 years of service to the community! If you are looking for the crème de la crème for a steakhouse. Look no further than this restaurant. When you walk into this immaculate restaurant. You will step back into time. This restaurant has received so many awards for food and services. I for got to take a picture of our food. The steak was so tender you didn’t need a knife to cut it. Our server was great with her suggestion from the food menu and drink menu. You will receive warm bread and butter with your meal. Our food was promptly served. The ground sirloin with jumbo mushroom and a baked potato was delicious! So much food that my mom and sister had to take it home for leftovers. The surf and turf has is wonderful! The order was with lobster tail and filet mignon with a baked potato. I had a glass of caposaldo Chianti. This red wine 🍷 is a full body red wine. You will enjoy it! The menu on the website is not consistent to the menu in the restaurant. I recommend making reservations and valet your vehicle. The food and drinks are price point. This restaurant is popular and becomes crowded fast. Dress code recommended.

Soups are amazing. With the exception of 1 visit where they messed up the temperature of my bone in ribeye they are pretty consistent with getting the temperature of your steak correct. All the steaks here are excellent so it's difficult to pick out a winner but if you want a smaller portion the spencer steak which is their 12 oz boneless ribeye might be a worth a shot. The chocolate cake here is out of this world.

Classic steakhouse setting- steaks were good. Service was not the standard you would expect, still we tipped 25%.

Excellent old school spot, with a “Pacific Dining Car” vibes, and great art pieces on the wall. Excellent customer service and the food was delicious! I ordered the 20 oz porterhouse medium rare(flavorful and cooked to perfection) with side of bernaise sauce , cheese bread(my favorite of the orders, and the wine was super smooth(Brady Vineyards 2018 Petite Sirah). The Velvet Cake with Pistachio ice cream is on point! Walk ins is difficult so make sure you call to reserve. I highly recommend this spot, just be aware they’re short staffed too, so a little more patience.

Wait staff was a little raw but food was tasty and filling once the obnoxious table left we could here the excellent jazz selections. Prime rib was great and the apps were delicious, prawns and scallop were tasty. My associate had the Colette and lobster tail...on me 🤔🤔 Desert was non existent and drinks were sub par... But still a nice night to have a birthday dinner. Enjoy your life gentlemen, it's all you got.

We came here for lunch. We were staying at the LINE hotel in Korea town and this was a short walk. Service was efficient and friendly. The vodka dirty martinis were well-made. Food was really good and the prices were fantastic for such a nice steakhouse. Get the cheesecake!

We got the ribeye and a burger with a side of mushrooms. I gotta say this place has the best burger in la and it’s only $16. Just loved it, if you don’t have reservations you can eat at the bar. Bartender makes a neat section for you to dine at the bar. Pretty cool and classic place. Feels like you are a boss walking in this nostalgic place in the middle of Koreatown.

It was difficult to hear conversations at our table because other dinners were unpleasantly loud. Their helpful staff serves reasonably priced yummy food. Nearby street parking was unavailable, so their $4.50 valet parking was tolerable.

Had a wonderful dinner here with my wife. Being mostly a tourist, saw this place on a TV show and looked it up. We went for dinner, and it did not disappoint. With the atmosphere and the smells, it just felt like a good old fashioned steak house. We decided to try the London Broil for an appetizer, and nearly fought over the last piece! Lol. I had the Kansas City Strip and it was fantastic. I even asked for a baked potato a certain way, and they nailed it. It was a little pricey, but worth every penny. This is another place I plan to visit again when I make it back out here.

Came here because we wanted good ole standard juicy medium rare steaks and Taylor's definitely quenched our cravings. We got French Onion Soup, Creamed Spinach, Porterhouse, Spencer Steak (boneless ribeye), and a bottle of their most affordable red. Everything was tasty. They pretty much have everything you think a standard steakhouse will have. The place looks old fashioned and traditional; it was also very festive with the holidays decoration. With that said, Taylor's tends to draw a more mature crowd. For parking, they have convenient valet service ($4.50) right next to the restaurant. We sat at the bar and it had more than enough room to enjoy a nice dinner. However, the bar service can definitely be improved. We had to continuously flag them down for mundane requests like getting the wine menu, ordering our meal, and getting a glass of water. It would be understandable, but they weren't even busy at the bar! Anyways, I recommend calling in advance to make a reservation if you want a booth seat. Expect to pay between $80-120 per person. Cool place, not sure when I'll be coming back though.

Been eating at Taylor’s for nearly fifty years. Steaks are done to perfection and they have the best baked potatoes in town. The service will s spot-on.

Nice and good food they have. Also atmosphere are quiet dark and calm. Salads are normal but few steak are very nice! Especially, filet mignon is very nice, well cooked and so tender and juicy. But some staffs are very cold for me not all.

A classic steakhouse it is. Perhaps it could use an upgrade. Or maybe the music was just a little loud, but the atmosphere was... a little dated. But the food was excellent and the service was very good. I started with the bacon wrapped scallops. They were the only over priced item. 3 for $27. The house salad was very good and the Spencer steak was excellent for the price. Cooked as requested. A very good meal. I'll have to go back and try the prime rib!

I have been coming here for over 10 years and have always been treated to a great meal with excellent service. As I got a bit older I was able to add that they pour a good drink here as well. Stop by and enjoy.

The steak was so good with reasonable price. Thay cooked in medium which I want. Environment was old fashioned with dark brightness. But they changed brightness in a short time when we want.

TAYLOR'S STEAKHOUSE PRIME RIB - LUNCH. Two or 3 times a year, a friend and I have lunch at Taylor's Steakhouse on 8th St. in Koreatown. The last 2 or 3 years we have noticed a change in flavor and texture of the Prime Rib. Not much flavor. Last month, I had trouble cutting the center section of the prime rib with a steak knife, it was so hard. I question if the prime rib is "prime". Maybe at dinner, but at lunch I think it's either choice or select. Also, the price has gone up. We were very disappointed in the quality of the prime rib and think the word should be put out there.

Thank you.

Taylor's Struggles. I have a sentimental attachment to Taylor's.
Sadly, each time I return, the service seems more harried. Each wait person we had last night told us completely different specials. They appeared to have run out of dishware so that the items come to the table on different plates to different people. Not a big deal but it points to a problem with the management. Plus, last night at 7p.m. they were out of prime rib.
I would say that if you've been there before, it's worth a return for your favorites. Just bring your patience and remember the good old days.
I wouldn't suggest you try it if you haven't been unless you're a masochist!

Beautiful bar area & had a vintage feel. We quickly ordered The culotte steak (tender part of top sirloin) cooked med-rare matched with a corn & onion salsa. 13oz a good size & we were not disappointed. Absolutely fantastic tender flavour we could not stop eating. Apart from the lack of lighting (we r not used to eating in such a dim light) it was an outstanding meal. Highly recommended and the service first class.

Every dinner here is a special occaission!. Ah Taylor's. I live within walking distance and when the mood strike me, I stroll through the door headed for what I KNOW is going to be a great dinner. And when I want to celebrate, I go there too. It's just that kind of place. It makes you happy!

The Culotte is amazing and even the chicken is great. Dessert, not so much, but it's all about the steak here. And the service is warm and friendly even when they are super busy. Taylor's is the last of a dying breed, especially since The Buggy Whip closed last year. GO!

Just Ok......update to good!. Yes it's a landmark, been there forever type place, but I wasn't impressed. Bartender was attentive and made good drinks, but all 4 steaks were ok to just good. I tried the Coulotte, thinking I would give up a little tenderness for more flavor, but was mistaken. More than the food, the service was down right terrible, and I'm not the complaining type. Server dropped off the plates and didn't return until we were 15 minutes into our meal. Not a big deal except I wanted horseradish and our glasses were empty. When I made the request, it took another 10 minutes and we had completed dining by the time she returned. Prices were reasonable ($25-$35) for a quality steakhouse, but only if the service is there to back it up. I've heard friends rave about this place and since this was my first experience, maybe I just caught them on an off night. UPDATE November 2010: I gave Taylor's another go and this time it was GREAT. Really good cut and cooked perfectly. I sat at the bar with a coworker and asked for a friend spinach side. Bartender gave me the what the hell look, but he ordered it up and the cooks delivered. The guys in the back had never heard that request, but they did try a sample and said it was a nice change to standard prepared greens. I now say thumbs up to Taylor's

Super Tasty. Great steaks, old time Los Angeles ambiance, cool servers. I used to go here after USC games I went to with my cousins.

Classic Among Classics. Entering Taylor's is genuinely stepping into a past time when people dressed up for dinner. You don't have to do that now, but if you do, you'll be glad you did. Magnificent steaks at affordable prices, Sinatra on the PA and a cocktail make this one of my LA regulars.
