Review The Great Greek Restaurant - Los Angeles

It's been a while since we ate at this restaurant. Today we came for lunch on my birthday and we're glad we came back because we never realized how much we missed the good food this place have to offer. Service is always professional and friendly, ambience is good. But the food here is always good. I ordered my favorite Oven roasted lamb and it's still as good as I can remember. I even got a dessert with a birthday candle. How sweet.

The food was really great and the service very hospitable, friendly and responsive. The live music is such a great bonus as well with traditional Greek songs, though their singer could be a bit better.

Its really good to dine in here specially for family. Friendly environment plus the staff are very nice too. The french fries, roast lamb is really good with their fresh salads with martini and our deserts are all delicious. Setting’s of the table is one thing they overlooked ;we need to asked additional napkins and utensils, but they were given it quickly.

What a fun place to eat. Went for my friends birthday and it just the 3 of us. Absolutely enjoyed the food and the live music they have every night. The flaming cheese is where it’s at! I honestly been telling more of my friends that we need to go so I can have an excuse to go again. Also, the new waitress Ali was just a delight. She was so attentive and made the experience that much more fun.

A place with great vibe and good food. The rice pilaf in vegetarian platter was so dang flavorful. Absolute loved it. The live music is such a show stealer. Do give this place a try if in the area.

I've been going to Great Greek since 1998, so you know I absolutely love this place! The food is superb and I've never had a disappointing meal. The roasted lamb is scrumptious, but I usually have the vegetarian platter, which features a variety of many different specialties. (Photo) It is actually two meals in one, but be sure to ask for some pita bread and toast it at home. Not surprisingly, many special occasions are celebrated there to the live music. One thing - where did the sea bass and swordfish go? I miss them!

Been coming here for years and love it. My only suggestion is that on Fridays and Saturdays when there is music, the band should take a break so that people can talk. The music being nonstop for hours is just too much. People need a rest from shouting at the people at their table.

Great healthy tasty food for a reasonable price and with beautiful Greek live music.

We came here on a sunday night, as a party of five and we ordered the greek feast. They have done an amazing job with appetizers . Lamb and meatballs were also great. They had live music , it was a bit loud for my ears but the ambiance was perfect. We didnt like the dolmales, it contained too much meat, personally the version without meat and thinner leaves are better. As someone coming from a really similar culture , in the Great Greek they did a great job creating this delicious meals in US. I know a lot of places that cant generate this quality food with same culture.

Love this place! Been eating here on and off for several years. Still one of the best Mousakkas around. Hubby had Chicken Souvlaki. Avogolemono (chicken lemon soup) is delicious as are their appetizers (Taramasalata dip, Hummus) and Grape Leaves (hot with beef). Always look forward to dining here. Servers are always very attentive.

The Great Greek restaurant is truly amazing. Great food, excellent service, awesome live Greek music with lot of Greek dancing. The Roasted lamb it is simply delicious, mousaká and pastitsio were prepared to perfection, spanakopita was fantastic and the galaktoboureko dessert was truly amazing. There is a great reason why this place is been there for 38 years.

We did family style. The food, a little bit of everything, comes out in small plates for everyone to try. Great way to dine.

They have great Greek foods. Keep in mind if you are decided to choose from lunch menu, you should order before 4 PM. I’m little picky on meats so my favorite is Gyro sandwich 🥙(on pita bread 🫓 with tatziki, tomato 🍅 , red onions 🧅 , bell peppers 🫑 ) from their lunch menu. You can order some items from dinner menu while it is before 4 PM. The positive point of COVID19 🦠 is the outdoor dining. They have few tables on side walk for dine in.

Interesting find. We came up on this restaurant accidentally and decided to try it, given we had a free afternoon and lunch somewhere sounded good. Theres a meter parking along Ventura, where we found many empty spots, not sure how packed it gets during later hours or the weekend. Once we entered the entire place was empty and we were greeted by friendly waitress. They have a large fully stocked bar for those who are interested, the tables were clean and lined with perfectly white cloths and offer different types of seating. We chose to sit at a booth and proceeded to look at the menu. By the look of it , they have very traditional Greek menu, like Gyros and many vegetable dishes, and lamb of course. We were brought a nice bread basket with olive oil very quickly(i mean we were the only ones there). For the appetizer we got their flaming cheese dish, yummy yummy, very filling but absolutely delicious with some pita on the side. We wanted to get a greek salad but were encouraged not too as entrees come with salad as well. For the entrees, I got lamb plate which came with variety of food on the plate, cabbage, potatoes and Greek salad on the side. Kind of disappointed of the salad because it was lettuce and 2 pieces of tomato, few pieces of cucumber with a little feta cheese. I do not believe and the best greek salad we had was strictly tomatoes and cucumbers. For my wife we ordered vegetarian place which was a galore of many many different foods. Huge plate of hummus, beans, potatoes, cabbage, eggplant salat and few other things. We were stuffed not even half way through. The food felt homemade but also like a buffet. Not sure if I will go to dinner and enjoy a glass of wine on a night out there. For quick lunch, sure why not I mean it was pretty delicious. But stop by for the flaming cheese though, who doesn't like cheese on a nice piece of pita or bread.

Ambiance extraordinaire. Very European old fashion, nonplastic environment. Like in the old days, when we actually honored our food time with a good wine, great comversation. No loud noise-obnoxious TV screen-nonense. Oweners, kitchen and staff brought together a gastronomic experience unusual for the average person in L A scene. Don't let the elegant ambiance deceive you. it is FUN to come to dance to greek music. Those greeks know how to make it happen, while putting the F in fun.
