Great vibes, yummy food (the smoked wings appetizer could use a lil' more love tho... kinda dry but still tasty), cool server from New Zealand (Kieran I think) & cool bartender (Tall guy with curly hair & mustache). The GM even came over to everyone to make sure we were all good. Definitely a good spot to grub, drink, relax & chill at. They'll def get more of my $$. :-)

I really enjoyed eating here. Great atmosphere and very nice staff. I was seated quickly and my drink order arrived just as quickly. The food was delicious and plentiful. I definitely recommend this place.

This place is trying to be a like a pub I think. It has a good friendly atmosphere and if it were full, it would be very noisy. It’s got an extensive menu. I chose the chicken buttermilk sandwich which was great but a massive portion and I could only eat half. My dining companions all enjoyed their meals from salmon to burgers. Would definitely return.

Biggest challenge is finding the place. No sign, only a black awning. Once inside, it's like your friendly neighborhood bar. Come before 7pm for a relaxed, quiet vibe. After that, the lights are dimmed, the music turns up and it's more of a party. Friendly service! And good suggestions from the waiter on drinks and food. My grilled cheese sandwich and tomato bisque was the perfect comfort food for a chilly night. Long tables in the back room accommodate large parties. Otherwise choose the fun bar or small tables in the front section.

Food: consistent and delicious. The deviled eggs are absolutely ridiculous.

Bar: These bartenders are on point! Whether it's a cocktail or craft beer, the selection is great! Best Old Fashioned this side of the Mississippi.

Great atmosphere and the management and staff are always friendly.

The SFV generally gets a bad rep for suburban quality everything.  But if you take a closer look, there are more and more neighborhood gems springing up here. The Local Peasant is one of them - I love that it doesn't aspire to be anything other than what its name evokes - an informal gathering place for those in the community.  There is, however, one menu item  that should draw even culinary royalty - whether or not they feel the need to be incognito, visiting this plebeian part of town - more on this later in the post.   On the less hip stretch of Ventura (West of the Studio City, in Sherman Oaks), a stone's throw from other popular brunch spot Sweet Butter, The Local Peasant has a laid back vibe, with its rustic wood paneled decor and giant frosted windows that on a warm day opens out for great people watching.  They serve beer, wine and Pre and Post Prohibition cocktails.  Always down for savory drinks, I loved the Basil Pepper Martini ($10) which was a gorgeous golden color, light,

It was my first time here, but it won't be my last for sure. I ordered the pork belly, watermelon, and tamarind sauce, and it was better than I expected. The pork belly was crispy and tender from the inside. This is a must-have. My drink was perfect, too. The bar tender was a perfect addition too, she was very friendly and efficient. Highly recommended

Caprese Omelette w/ a Bees Knees (gin, lemon, honey). Perfect potatoes and salad accompanying a home run of an omelette. Pleasantly surprised, impressively tasty. Definitely shall return for this hang.

This is my second time... and it was even better. I bought the steak frites and my sis got the salmon. It was soooo good!! I also purchased the Irish coffee which was a fun experience... it's all about the experience, right?😉Anyways, very cute situation. So grateful to have them close to our neighborhood.

Second time here and the drinks are delicious. Bartenders are very very good at what they do. I did not eat here but everything smelled and looked delicious!

Even though it's busy service was great, the food was tasty, however skip dessert. Cocktails are well balanced and strong. The housemaid pickle is phenomenal, bacon and eggs so good, pork belly could have more steeped in flavor but still really good, and the mini sliders are perfectly sized. The cinnamon whipped cream for the Irish coffee has so much gelatin in it it cannot melt into your drink, and the mouth feel is pretty bad. The no-bake cheesecake is not a cheesecake at all, texture or flavor-wise. And the flourless chocolate tort is served warm which means the texture is more pudding-like than tort.

They have a couple of mocktails! And Chicken & Waffles (chicken was a bit dry) and DELICIOUS Brussels sprouts. Portions are on the larger side and our server was the nicest. He also was attentive about the ice teas my friend was drinking and kept bringing the refills without fail. 😂 Saturday brunch wasn’t crowded though the music volume is “healthy” and feels a bit raucous. All in all, a solid neighborhood pub/bar w good food that also does good brunch!

The food was really good. We had the crab cakes, fish tacos, a grilled cheese, and chicken tenders. Everything was so tasty, and flavorful. Highly recommend you check it out. Looks like a great place to hang out at the bar as well.

I enjoyed my meal but it wasn't anything exceptional. We ordered off of the happy hour menu and the regular menu, and portions are definitely "L.A." (you know, where many women don't really eat). I'm not that woman🤣 I didn't like that there were so many dogs inside, but that's a personal preference. Our waiter was excellent, and the frozen margaritas were delish, I had 2. There is residential street parking and valet parking. There was nothing wrong with this place, I just wasn't blown away. It was fine.

I've been coming to The Local Peasant for years. I've had birthday celebrations, dinners, and french-fry destination events here. I like the atmosphere, choices as a vegetarian, and always friendly service, and can say unequivocally that they have the best thick French Fries on any side of the Mississippi. We move a bit further away and hadn't been in a while...so I was excited to return...the atmosphere was there, but the food and drink this time around were not quite what I had remembered. I started with a watermelon cocktail. With the main ingredient being watermelon, and simple syrup included, I was surprised at how not-at-all sweet this was. I had to send it back to sweeten it up some. It came back sweeter, but the watermelon flavor was not as present as I would have wanted it. The french fries - and I mean the thick ones, served criss-cross on the plate like lincoln logs were on point, and reason enough to visit this place. The grilled cheese may have changed since the last time I had it. It was served on ciabatta bread so it didn't have the kind of satisfying "non-end piece" grilled bread situation you kind of want out of a grilled cheese. The cheese mix in it was pretty good though. My son ordered the Beyond Burger and (blasphemy) the thinner fries. The fries were good but he (a teenager who lives for greasy foods and sugar) kept complaining that the burger was too greasy. My wife assembled her own meal as the website menu didn't quite match what the actual menu was...She had salmon, bok choy, and fries (the good ones). The Bok Choy and of course the fries were great. She said she'd had better salmon here before. Perhaps slightly overcooked. Our server was fantastic. Super nice. Like he was from Canada nice. (though he wasn't from Canada.) He even brought me a chocolate chunk bread pudding with a candle in it for my birthday. We devoured that. I like it here a lot and think it may have just been a slightly off night for the food. (Possible also because I had planned on ordering the cheese board which was no longer on the menu.)
