Review Felix - Los Angeles

Matt Brown
We really enjoyed this restaurant. Lots of great pasta and wine on the menu. Huge space with both indoor and a massive covered backyard. Our favorite dishes were the sfincione bread (although we would’ve loved for it to be served with some dipping oil) and several pastas - the trofie pesto genovese and sausage tortellini were standouts. The others were good, but felt a bit standard. Worth a visit, we enjoyed. Make a reservation ahead of time.

Ate at the bar because we went last minute and couldn't make reservations. Ambiance immediately was very warm and relaxing. We had a few glasses of wine, a salad, pizza, pasta, and of course an espresso to wash it down. Everything was excellent, and the serving sizes were appropriate. Definitely one of the best pizzas in West LA, the pasta was perfect al dente. Will be back for sure.

Felix Trattoria is one of the best Italian restaurants I've been to and by far the best I've had in LA. Everything we ate was delicious but the pasta was next level. Cocktails were great too. Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and the atmosphere was great. We sat out on the patio and it was very comfortable. Plan to return many more times 🤤

Went yesterday, just recommended today to a friend to go try it. So should you! The pasta is great and their antipasto as well. We got some bread that was to die for. The artichoke was nice, their salad seemed a bit fun! The pizza was good, everyone liked it but I didn't love it... The prices are high and the receptionist gave us twice a bit of attitude in such small moments. First couple arrived early and not everyone is there. I get the rules. We get there and it's 10 minutes past, now we have to wait. Just not very accomoding to their customers!

The dishes at Felix were good, but there was nothing particularly outstanding. It didn't quite live up to the high expectations I had in mind, considering the prices. One aspect that I really didn’t like was the staff's persistent pushiness when it came to ordering additional dishes. Throughout both of my recent visits, they consistently insisted that our initial selections wouldn't be sufficient, which created an atmosphere of pressure and unease. Just fyi, we ordered a couple of starters and three main courses to share among three people. Aside from that, the service was efficient, and the staff was friendly enough. The atmosphere of the restaurant leaned towards the more relaxed and laid-back side, which I appreciated. However, there was a notable contrast between dining inside and outside. Outside felt a bit more subdued, lacking the vibrant atmosphere.

Pasta- tactic! We watched them make pasta the during dinner in the visible glass room which was neat to see such talent. I’d give the place 10/10 the service was great, the food was impressive & delectable and the atmosphere/ ambience was vibrant.

I love this place. We had a very delicious Mother’s Day dinner last night and I already want to go back to try more dishes. It’s really designed well on the inside, it’s dark and romantic, but not so dark that you need extra light to read the menu. The area where the pasta is made is open and surrounded by glass so you can see it being prepared. The seating is also not too close to other tables, which too many restaurants seem to do nowadays. The service was prompt, and they have a lot of great options on the menu. We were able to find street parking a half a block away for a 7PM Sunday dinner. We started off the meal with the Fiori di Zucca, which is squash blossoms filled with ricotta. This dish was a real hit and delicious! The squash was perfectly crispy, and the ricotta inside really made the dish. We also ordered two different breads for the table. We chose the Focaccia Romana Rossa, which was basically a pizza with Burrata in the center, and the Sfincione which was basically really fluffy focaccia with a taste of olive oil and seasoning. Both were very good. For our entrees we chose the Cacio E Pepe and it was terrific. We both order this dish often and it was one of the better ones that we have both had in quite some time. There was an extra spicy component to it which we both loved. We also ordered the Tagliatelle and it was fantastic. It was a healthy sized portion of pasta with tons of ragu on top. I truly loved it and would recommend it. Overall a great meal in a well designed setting. I wish they did refills for iced tea or soda (you pay per refill unfortunately) but aside from that it was a great dinner and I would recommend to anyone.

The best pasta I've had since coming back from Italy. Don't miss the zucchini blossoms and, right now, the fig pizza.

My daughter and I had an incredible experience here. We went for her birthday and stayed for 2.5 hours talking about life and enjoying the ambience, the food, and the remarkable young lady who took care of us all night. The pasta and prawns were excellent, the bread is some of the best I've ever had - I'd describe it more as a bread cloud or bread pillow - so light and delicious. Be warned, it's addictive. And we concluded our evening with a beautiful desert and candle to commemorate my daughter's birthday. Plenty of vegan and vegetarian options. Thank you for an incredible dining experience.

Perfect place for a special occasion or date night. Surprisingly, the panzanella salad with burrata was my favorite dish we ordered. It was super flavorful and refreshing, and went perfectly with the focaccia, which was just as amazing as everyone says. I wasn’t a fan of the Trofie pasta we ordered though — the pesto didn’t have much flavor and the texture was strange.

I’ll start by saying I wish I could give 4.5 stars. We came in May of 2021 as a party of 4. I made our reservation just after midnight when they opened up and we got the time and date that we wanted. Almost everything was absolutely superb, but for the price point I’d expect that everything be superb. - the foccacia: melt in your mouth fluffy heaven. Seriously one of my favorite bites of food ever. - the squash blossoms: I don’t like eating flowers and I don’t love squash, but these were divine. - meatballs: covered in a light breading and lots of parm… yes these were pretty stellar. - pizza: I’d come back for this and the bread. Really delicious pizza, the perfect amount of char. - bolognese: I try the bolognese everywhere, this one was incredible. I cooked bolognese for months trying to recreate it. - cacio e pepe: simple and wholesome, with bucatini pasta. - 40 oz steaks, TWO of them: this is where I felt there was something to be desired. First off, we could have gotten more help from the server to know that the four of us did not need 80 oz of steak after all of our appetizers and pizza/pasta. I think he saw an opportunity to sell an additional $300+ of steak and went for it, knowing thats another $60 in tips for him. This steak was aged, yet I was left missing the slightly cheesy nutty buttery aroma of an aged steak. It actually didn’t have a ton of flavor. The rest of the meal was great, so I’d skip these steaks next time.

Expensive place for the food, but otherwise great. We got the focaccia bread and two pastas (ragu & lemon linguine). The waiter was very nice, and explained the entire menu to us. The desert was fantastic!

Amazing service and best Italian food around. Excellent deserts. Ribeye was tender and cooked perfectly.

The food is absolutely delicious. It was worth the hunt for a reservation. The prawns were succulent and meaty, an amazing sauce to dip with the focaccia. The focaccia is unreal, it's so light, airy, crispy, and fragrant with olive oil. The pasta was so filling to share between two people. The texture and flavor were all there to balance one another.

Everything was incredible. No complaints at all, but if you aren't used to how authentic pasta is cooked that might throw you off. The pretzel bread was delicious and the prawns were the best. Pretty pricy though with drinks and everything for my ladies birthday it cost $300 after tip. Worth it though, we could probably cut down on the costs next time.

Definitely one of the best Italian restaurants on the beach side of town. The food here are amazing. Like many of the reviews here indicated, come here to enjoy flavorful food, not for people on a keto or low carb diet. The ambiance was so intimate and good vibes for celebrating special occasions The service here was excellent. Our waiter was so friendly and know his food very well. We had some amazing dishes under his recommendations. We started with two appetizers including the famous sfincione focaccia bread and an ok arugula salad. The focaccia was the high light of the evening. The bread was so fluffy and tasty. They even offered pork fat for dipping. I am still dreaming about this bread. We also ordered two pastas to share. The home pappardelle with short rib was amazingly tasty and the pasta was al dente which means perfectly cooked. The other pasta was pesto Trofie. I like this one better as the flavor was perfect for me. The pasta was also cooked al dente. Finally, we celebrated my daughter’s fiancé’s birthday with three desserts. When eat in an italian restaurant, a meal wouldn’t be complete without a tiramisu. This dessert was very creamy and smooth. The other dessert that our waiter recommended was the crostata. This is a pastry dessert with blackberries. We like this restaurant and will definitely return to try out their other dishes. Although the restaurant offers valet, there plenty of parking spots on the street. This restaurant is very popular in Venice, you definitely need to make a reservation before come to dine here.

I am Italian and I will hereby confirm that the food is spot on, the ingredients they use are excellent and cooked really well. The price point is a little steep, in Bologna you can get an extremely good “Tagliatelle alla Bolognese” for 12€ and here they charge you a ridiculous $45 for it, but I have to admit their pasta is handmade and cut really thin, and their ragu is delicious. Pricey but great!
