I LOVE Mercado La Paloma and Chichén Itzá.
I have been coming here for at least 6 years. This is a great location and rooted non profit and food court/ market place. This is close to USC / DTLA and a few LA museums.
The food is always delicious and I always enjoy my meals here.
Yucatan inspired Mexican food. My experience was outstanding. Parking may be challenging but for us we parked in the DMV parking lot since it was Sunday so zero cost which was awesome since we were going to an event at the nearby LA Coliseum anyway. We had and shared for two people:
Panuchos - Fried corn tortilla, split and filled with black bean puree, topped with lettuce, shredded turkey, pickled red onions, and a slice of avocado. They don't hold up once they get cold but hot/warm they were delicious.
Ceviche De Pescado-Basa fish marinated in lime juice with tomato, onion & cilantro. Fresh, bright and outstanding.
Cochinita Pibil-Pork marinated with achiote, sour orange juice, and spices, cooked in banana leaves, topped with pickled red onions served with sauteed black beans, rice and corn tortillas. Fantastic. Get this if nothing else. And then we got some black beans over rice. Very good. Finally we got fried plantains that was a benchmark plantain dish. Sweet like it was a dessert.
It's in the Mercado de Paloma. A really cool food hall with lots of choices for you to eat. If you choose Chichen Itza you will not be disappointed. Finally we got all this for 48 bucks. To me that is a big deal and very affordable for a spot very close to downtown L.A. Highly recommended.
I always enjoy eating here because their food quality and taste never changes. The plates are good size portions and they are very complete. My favorite is the bistec a la yucateca which is served over a bed of lettuce with caramelized onions. It is served with white rice, balck beans soup, pico de gallo, platanos fritos (fried sweet plantain), fried potatoes and handmade torillas. Their pollo pobil is also a must try dish if you are not craving meat. They also have a few choices for aguas frescas at good prices.
It took me a long time to finally find a reason to be in the area, so I stopped in. Really good. Fish tacos were so fresh tasting. The interesting batter is crisp yet light and has zero taste of even that days oil. It was the best fish taco I have had anywhere.
I used to live in Merida and I can attest the food here is 100% authentic. Every single item in the menu is so delicious. I highly recommend this place.
Amazing! Outstanding customer service - Please tip generously! Delicious food. It cools quickly so devour instantly. Really terrific and very affordable! Street parking in front of the complex, and also in the surrounding streets.
A Hidden Gem!! Outstanding Gourmet Food! The Pollo Pibil was excellent. The fish tacos were good, but not as good as HOLBOX next door (by the same Michelin Star Chef.) Along with the chicken, be sure to try the hot sauce. It is 🔥, but so tasty! The staff was helpful in explaining the dishes. We enjoyed the Mexican Coffee as well. This restaurant is definitely on many Favorite lists.
Delicious cochinita pibil and tacos de chorizo. The chorizo is amazing. I always complement it with an order of plátano frito. Food is tasty.
Highly recommended.
Absolutely delicious. The perfect meal and space to decompress after a long day. We inhaled this food and we’re excited to come back for more!
Great fish tacos with affordable price!
