Review Little Sister - Los Angeles

Madeline Linwood
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Our server was very helpful as we navigated the menu, looking for the right balance of dishes for our party of four. A little noisy, they might have turned the music down so we could hear each other talking. Going back the next time we are in Los Angeles.

Food was perfectly prepared and even though i did a take out to my hotel, the greens that came with my grilled lemongrass pork chop stayed dresh and crisp. The pork chop was so very nicely cooked! Very flavorful. And the rice cooked just right. It made my day!

Food was good and presentation was pretty! However, pricing is a bit excessive, or I guess that’s normal since it’s Downtown LA. $16 for two spring rolls, $26 for Banh xeo, that’s mostly beansprouts… overall the food was tasty and flavorful.

Great food! The rolls and eggplant are the best dishes we tried! Amazing The service is really nice and the prices are fair

I've been to the Irvine location. The DTLA space is about 1000% smaller. Given the smaller space, it feels a bit cozier. Definitely recommend reserving online. Came here on a Monday at 730pm. It was still relatively busy. Service: Food and drinks came out very fast. Almost feels a bit rushed. Certain nuances such as sauces took some effort. Given the shortage with Sriracha sauce. Recommend bringing your own. The "spice condiments" here tasted like ketchup. Not a fan at all. Given the prices, they should make their hot sauce in-house. Food wise. It's pretty decent. Better alternative than driving down to OC from LA for decent Vietnamese. Price wise, it's way higher than traditional Vietnamese restaurants. The environment was alright. Given the small space, the noise volume can be a bit much. Overall, I will likely not be back to this location.

Stopped in for an early dinner and loved every minute. Atmosphere: cozy, trendy nook Service: pleasant and unassuming Food: Great flavor and presentation. The eggplant was delicious, served hot with a savory sauce studded with garlic slices. The crispy prawns were fresh and as promised, highly recommend. Pricing: Moderate to somewhat pricey, but the portions are generous. $23 for prawns, $18 for the eggplant.

I’ve passed by this spot numerous times & I’ve heard great things about this spot. We ordered the pho banh cuon, imperial rolls & ,shaky shaky beef, and for dessert we got the warm pecan tart, whiskey dates with ice cream. The pho banh cuon was pretty good overall and the sauce was the best part. The imperial rolls was also good but a little overcooked and the shaky shaky beef was excellent but the rice is what made it phenomenal. The desert was a great end to the whole overall dining experience. I definitely recommend this spot, but I wish the Banh mi was available for dinner. Parking is limited to street & customer service was great. Also seating is also pretty close to other parties if you’re a party of two.

We had been here before. It's a nice option if you're around downtown. The menu is mostly Thai and Southeast Asian. The food is pretty good, we had the papaya salad and a curry. Great desserts. My wife is pescatarian so he ask the server about options fir her and he marked in a menu with a pen. Nice detail. Excellent service

This place is a gem! I’ve never had a chance to make it to the entrees yet. I always end up getting full from their spring rolls or filling salads. The peanut dipping sauce is served warm and omg is it so good. I always order extra lol.

The sauce for my ribs was really strong. The Vietnamese coffee was pretty diluted from a perspective of someone that drinks traditional Vietnamese coffee; probably catered to a different demographic than Vietnamese. The meat was great. Done really well and was soft and sweet; just right.

Been wanting to try this place for the longest time and finally had it to-go. Wished I had eaten in, cause the ambience is so nice! Def not like your typical Vietnamese restaurant, it actually looks like a nice place to go on a date. But with that said, although the food tasted good, it was a little pricey. Like I said, maybe come for a nice date.

It’s our first time back since the pandemic. Love the Vietnamese fusion offerings in this place. The crispy prawns with tamarind dipping sauce, the lemongrass chicken wings and the octopus salad are our favorites. The pork spring rolls were ok. The black rice with seafood is a huge order, meant to be shared by a large group. For dessert, we got the key lime tart and it is better than any we’ve had before. It was a great lunch, Zach took great care of us.

Absolutely delicious food. Highly recommend the black rice with mussels and the shaky beef. But to be honest everything was amazing, so just order anything and let you taste buds sing!

Heard lots of good reviews about this Vietnamese restaurant and finally got around to trying it. Ordered their beef pho, chicken pho, and sesame baguette as an appetizer. The beef pho was hands down the best pho I’ve ever had :O The meat in this broth was such high quality and the broth was rich and flavorful. I usually don’t eat the meat in my pho because it is over cooked most of the time but the meat here was so tender and fresh. I loved how it also included oxtail in it, that was a nice surprise! The chicken pho on the other hand was a little more on the blander side and didn’t have any meat varieties aside from the chicken breast. The sesame baguette came with: European butter, pate, and tomato jam and the flavor combinations of the spread were so good together!! Can’t wait to come back to try the other menu items including the banh mi!! **Update: tried the banh mi and it was amazinggg. Absolutely loved it. Got the #sgv and the roasted short rib sandwiches and both were bursting with flavor. Price: $16 for pho (a little steeper than other pho places but WELL worth it!!) $18 for banh mi but also well worth it because the portion sizes are huge!

We found this place in the before times. Loved it so much. When we were finally back in town for work, wanted to come back. It was (temporarily) closed. We were heartbroken. This time… they’re reopened! We booked same-day reservation, but we love sitting at bar anywhere we can. So we had host seat us at open bar spots. Little Sister didn’t disappoint. They were somewhat busy. But not too much. They got busy right after we started ordering and thus, occasionally service was slow, but do you really come here to rush in and rush out? I think not. The fresh pork and shrimp spring roll is my favorite. Also had salmon crudo this time. And it had this magic sauce… so good! We got the spiced fried chicken entree—fabulous rice and slaw type sides, then the super garlicky noodles—def safe from vampires after that, and the seafood curry— shrimp were great, shellfish a bit over cooked, curry tasty but a bit heavily salted, so it got too salty after a couple of bites or if you didn’t cut it with enough rice. We really do enjoy this place and it would still be on our must-stop list when working near DTLA in future.
