Review Nick + Stef's Steakhouse - Los Angeles

Came here for dinner on a Sunday evening after an opera at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion and made a reservation online in advance. It was listed as one of the best steakhouses in LA by the Food Network so we were excited to try it. Indoor and outdoor tables available. We got the diver scallops (2) to start - those were tender and flavorful. We also got the burrata which came with pomegranate arils and peaches. I enjoyed this as a light option. We got an order of the Szechuan string beans to split which weren’t spicy but had a nice flavor. Three of us split the Tomahawk which comfortably fed us. They gave us chimichurri sauce automatically but I believe you can change that if you want. The tomahawk was dry aged and beautifully cooked. My dad got the grass fed petit filet from Nebraska, which he enjoyed. They gave us Yorkshire puddings at the beginning in lieu of bread and I enjoyed how flaky and warm they were. We ended with the chocolate cake which took 20 minutes to prepare and came with vanilla ice cream on top. It was a tad dry around the edges and I wish there was more liquid chocolate enmeshed in the inside. Our waitress was friendly and came to check on us often. The restaurant manager also stopped by to say hi and check in. Our waiters were consistently refilled and service overall was on point.

Best service near Grand Avenue's museum row...went to Walt Disney Hall, Asterid and Vespaio middle of the week, reservations only. Walk a bit further and enjoyed a delicious dinner, our waiter John took care of us as if we were regulars. Wedge salad, lobster mac and cheese, burger and garlic fries...food is delicious and the freshest quality ingredients. Can't go wrong, even without reservations.

Top notch good and service. 18oz dry aged rib steak was flavorful and masterfully cooked. Waiter was perfectly attentive and funny to boot. Will be returning

Staff was helpful, food was good. Steak very enjoyable, but the thick bacon not so great just my preference I was thinking it was gonna be some sweet candy tasting bacon. No no and i love bacon...Definitely worth a trip.. 1 day I'll see you guys agian

Aged steaks are their specialty. Highly recommend them. The sides were absolutely delicious. Had dinner with friends. A bit on the pricer side. Not your average steak house. We ordered the dry aged bone in rib eye steak, dry aged New York steak, and salmon. For sides: wild mushrooms, potatoes au gratin, asparagus, and cream spinach. We all shared the sides. Dessert: liquid chocolate cake. Service was great. From beginning to end very attentive. Truly, everything was delicious.

Truly lovely experience! Went for my bday and enjoyed a truly high quality meal (seafood tower and the tomahawk steak were phenomenal). Our server was very pleasant and affable, and I appreciate the birthday Panna cotta and candle afterwards. We were seated near the window but right next to wear staff goes in/out of the kitchen so it was a little noisy but otherwise, a lovely evening and a fun splurge for dinner. The La Louisiane cocktail is also absolutely delicious. Recommend for a special event!

Nice upscale restaurant in Downtown Los Angeles. They have nice outdoor seating and patio area. The bar is small but cozy. They have a huge win selection. The offer 40 day dry age cuts of meat. The sides are all good. The bread is very delicious. It's a cheddar baked bread. The meat was well cooked, very flavorful and tender. The sides come in big portions so it can easy be enjoyed family style. The wait staff is very attentive and warm. It's a great place for a date night or to celebrate life. Its pricey, but it's worth it.

Wonderful atmosphere. Great tasting food and drinks with nice, friendly service. All steaks are dry aged and cooked to perfection. The sides are very tasty. Especially liked the Potato Gratin, Long Beans, and Creamed Spinach. Loved the Liquid Chocolate Cake and the Panacotta desserts.

Went for our birthday dinner here last week and was blown away by everything Nick + Stef's had to offer! Great food, excellent service and such a cozy interior.

Went for my birthday. Food was fantastic, we got the dry aged ribeye and NY strip. Mashed potatoes were unbelievable and loaded baked potato was good. Service was ok, nothing to write home about. Almost felt like we were an afterthought to our server. They did bring me a bday desert which was nice. The biggest let down though was the atmosphere. We went at 7:15 on a Saturday night. When we walked in it was really quiet and pretty empty. I think there was music in the background but you really couldn’t hear it. My wife and I were dressed up and we almost felt awkward as the couple next to us were in sports jerseys and ball caps. We debated leaving after sitting down as it felt completely dead inside, no vibe whatsoever. It got slightly better as our dinner went on and more people arrived. Just keep in mind, it’s in a deserted office complex on the weekend and you have to go through an office building to get to the restaurant. That mixed with very little ambiance inside kinda killed it for us. Food was great but not enough to overcome the lackluster feeling sitting there and paying $250 for our meal.

Excellent Steaks<br/><br/>We were looking for an excellent steakhouse in downtown LA near the double tree by Hilton .We were very satisfied with the bone in rib eye and the fillet mignon both perfectly prepared to our preference with high quality beef . The service was excellent and the wine list was acceptable . They could add a few more selections . We ordered both a chardonnay and a merlot which were both quite good .After dinner we shared a 3 cheese plate which we enjoyed very much as well . We will return on future visits to LA .Please note while we had the correct address it was hard to find the entrance to the restaurant due to local construction even our local yellow cab driver seemed confused .

Been to nick & stef's 20+ times and always had a great meal (that's why I ate their so often). The other night I went back after 18 months of not having gone and they did a beautiful renovation. I also spent a few hours in the kitchen with Executive Chef Andreas Roller. One of the better steakhouses in town and worth driving to. Great service, wine, decor and spectacular steak..

Beware. Went with group of 20 people and was charged 60% on bill. Hidden charges included an administration fee and banquet fee. Also they charged 30% gratuity which was labeled16%. So beware

Great dessert. I just went here for dinner last night and i liked Nick & Stef's but its definitely overpriced. i have the valentines day prefix menu and i loved the dessert was probably the best part and i usually don't care for dessert but the chocolate cake was amazing. I never have an issue with filet mignon but my steak yesterday was a little undercooked i asked for med. rare and instead of the warm pink center i got a cold pink center. my date ordered the aged rib eye and that was just delicious. so if eating here id order from the aged meat that they specialize in. great place to try id go back but not any time soon

Only White People Welcome. Update - received a call from VP of Operations. It was not a manager who reseated us. But VP says a manager should have been on the floor and aware there was a problem; deficiencies in training will be addressed. VP and managers all dismayed we felt there was a race issue. Below is the unedited original review, which also went to the Patina Group. While we will not return to this particular restaurant, we have not had bad experiences at other Patina locations and are willing to return to those.<br/>-------<br/>We were the first patrons to arrive in a huge restaurant, we even had a reservation, and they seat us in the back right next to a service area. My date, IN A JACKET AND TIE, said "as a black person you get used to being seated next to the kitchen". I almost cried when he said that! He later said he hadn't had that feeling in 20 years. SHAME on you Patina Group!<br/><br/>I thought we'd actually been seated next to the kitchen. When we asked to move, "can't we sit by the window; we're first ones here and you seat us next to the kitchen?" we were told (my date said it was by the manager since we never saw him in the room again) "actually that's just our grill area" and in response to our gesture to all the empty tables by the window "in half an hour we're going to fill up". My thought was 'SO?!'<br/><br/>After being reseated (not by a window but at least a better area) a very nice busboy took our drink order so fortunately those came pretty quick. But then it was another half hour before we had our order taken. And that was only after having to ask another busboy to tell our waiter. And said waiter asked us as we were reseated if we were going to a show so he KNEW we had a curtain time to make.<br/><br/>Three other tables received their food before we did, two of the three shared the same waiter we had. Once we finally got the waiter to take our food order I told him he'd better bring me another martini as the experience was going from bad to worse. One of the other waiters brought it to me and as he set it down quietly said "I'm sorry".<br/><br/>From then on our waiter was condescending and then tried to become my new best friend (can we say "realized his tip was at jeopardy"?) Also, I realized the attention came after he had noticed me typing away like crazy on my phone to which my date commented "it's something Mubarak learned the hard way - the power of social media".<br/><br/>In conclusion, the food was great! But we're going to post a review to Yelp and at friend's suggestion also to Urban Spoon; plus I will be writing to the Patina Group as it is a management issue. I'm also considering contacting the NAACP and titling my review "only white people welcome". My date is a 60-something African American man, and I'm a 50-something mixed race woman usually profiled as white.<br/><br/>P.S. We checked on the way out, an hour and a half after arriving, and the place wasn't even half full!

Posh atmosphere, elegant food, flawless service...need I say more?

Nick & Stef's new Executive Chef Megan Logan is a bit of an anomaly. A California native who got her start as a server at 15, attended Le Cordon Bleu in Pasadena and rose through the ranks of the Patina Group , Logan is one of the few women in the industr

Happy Hour Review! We had some delicious pickings for our food palate as well – Marinated Olives with Marzano Almonds ($5), Sweet Potato Fries w/ Fried Ginger ($4); and Roasted Italian Sweet Pepper Pizza with goat cheese ($9).

We enjoyed our appetizers, but the steak and the sides were the stars of the night. When our main attraction came, we were served not one but two pieces of steak: Prime Angus Rib eye and New York steak, both cooked to a wonderfully juicy and tender medium rare. The rib-eye steaks at Nick + Stef's are dry-aged for 28 days.

People often ask me where to find a good steak dinner in Los Angeles. It's almost always for a special occasion. A dad's birthday, friend in town, a special anniversary or occasion. LA isn't short of choices for steak. There are old school options like Ta
