Review Sqirl - Los Angeles

This is our first stop whenever we are in LA. We love the fresh ingredients and the bakery is just Divine. Have tried many items from their menu and they never disappoint. Most recently the salmon rice bowl and the morning breakfast sammie both really hit the spot!

Menu is extensive and every little quirky/hipster detail is described - a little bit hard to choose! You have to order first at the counter and not many seats are available, so it's better for smaller parties. Shop next door has interesting items. But in the end, to what matters, coffee is amazing and food is pretty good as well!

This place is a VIBE and I’m here for it! The Veg Stock Sandwich is one of the best things I’ve ever eaten - the perfect hearty, toasted bread, tahini and a dressed shredded vegetables YUM! The Pumpkin Spice Latte is in a league of its own - so much so it almost shouldn’t share a name with the over commercialized version - it’s heaven! I got mine with oat milk and coconut whip on the barista’s recommendation and it was worth it! Love everything about this place and will be back to shop the market next time!

Order at the counter door on the left and grab a seat or order takeout at the pantry door on the right. There’s always a few specials on the board as well. All time favorite is the Salmon Sorrel Rice. It’s a fixation at this point. Their new coffee drink in the photo features a most incredible made-from-scratch-with-expensive-tasting-vanilla syrup. I usually like my coffee black but this was a delightful cold treat. Some of the staff are nice, others are grouchy. They’re doing the whole “we work somewhere cool” thing so don’t take it personally. Enjoy!

AMAZING!!! Such a delicious, creative, and quirky brunch place! Even starting with the drinks, they were very unique. The red juice was very unique and I can see an audience for it, though I am personally not a fan of the spicy ginger taste. However, I LOVED the strawberry matcha even though I am usually not the biggest matcha person. They serve it starting with matcha on top and strawberry milk on the bottom, and even sipping just the pure matcha layer the flavor is so strong and fresh you can’t not love it. Then you mix with the strawberry milk layer below and the whole drink has a lovely sweet earthy flavor. Also cannot rave enough about their donut of the day. When we went it was a citrusy donut with lemon/orange flavored icing, a donut hole in the middle, topped with dried orange slices and clementines and flowers. The texture of the donut was so light and fluffy and the icing was sweet but not overpowering. When sally met sally was also quite good. I really liked the texture of the bread, which had an abundance of nuts and even quinoa. When we went they were out of lox, but it was still good. The thick cut brioche bun was excellent on the special BLT was so good; the baked goods are really excellent here. Sorrel pesto bowl was also good but not as amazing as the other dishes despite being one of the Sqirl classic dishes. Line was not too long either! Would come back.

Food and drinks are superb. One of the best coffee in LA. The French toast was exceptional but you do have to wait 30 minutes to be ready. It’s a giant portion!

I was in LA for a day to get an international visa. Sqirl was on the list to try the famed ricotta toast. It didn't disappoint! Thick brioche topped with pillowy whipped ricotta - so rich but the jams give it a nice sweet kick. I don't recall it being an option, but it would also be great drizzled with some EVOO. I'd make a return the next time I'm in LA.

The food here is creative and absolutely delicious! I honestly have no better way to describe how scrumptious the chocolate croissant and the salted rye chocolate chip cookie was. The eggs were cooked to perfection and their breads are so loaded with flavor you will be content to eat them with nothing on them.

Love the ambience and food! Although busy, the line moved fast and we were able to get a seat after we placed our order. Everything from the kitchen looks really good. Will for sure to return and try other items on the menu!

Got the “Sally not Sally” which was really good, simple but fresh, good quality ingredients. The famous brioche with rainbow jelly, though, was not to our taste as much. We tough the jams were too sweet and the brioche lacked crunchiness. Their bakery is really good, I bought some bread and olive oil after my meal.

This place is popular for a reason. I ordered the "Stella," which is one of their Vegan dishes. I didn't know what to expect, as I had never eaten here. As unexpected as the flavor combinations were, it was really delicious. I have never eaten a breakfast rice dish before, and it was nice to eat something that wasn't a "vegan-tofu-scramble" concoction for a change. My friend had their french toast, that I was eyeballing like a hawk, but as I'm currently not eating much in the way of sugar, I decided to admire it from across the table. She assured me that it was quite wonderful. I also love that this place is dog friendly and it seems to appeal to so many different people. I only wish their facilities were a tad bit larger with slightly roomier seating accommodations. However, it did add to the charm of the "local neighborhood café" experience. The price was right and next time I'm there, I just might have to try some of their toast and jelly that they are so famous for. Thanks guys!

Hippie kind of place with good & healthy food for which you must stay in line for a few minutes. Staff was nice and quick.

When I go out to eat, it’s rare that I’ll tell a manager that I love the food. Sqirl is yummy and they use top quality Ingrediebts. The staff is friendly and approachable. The wait is worth it. I’ll definitely go back !

Wow.. absolute delicious little joint. Had the brioche toast with ricotta and jam, the goddess salad, and the coffee. It was well worth the 40+ min wait in line. It does NOT disappoint!

Loved the ricotta toast. It looked heavy, but was very light. I liked the use of different salad greens on my shave carrot and pea salad. The chickpea dish needed more spices, acidity maybe tomato or lemon and heat. It was the weakest dish. The pancakes were light and fluffy. The rice bowl was nice and filling.
