Review Yang Chow - Los Angeles

Ambience neat. Friendly Service. Foods were great. Do try their homemade Chilli oil . To go foods are packed by them. That was kind. Good Mulan hot tea. Fortune cookie was one of my favorite fun.

I've been going here for over 35 years and I'll keep going. Slippery Shrimp is truly a gift to the world. Everything else is excellent as well. My go-to for old style American Chinese food.

I’ve been a loyal patron of Yang Chow Chinese Restaurant since I was a child, and this place holds a special place in my heart. It’s not just the restaurant’s reputation for hosting celebrities that keeps me coming back, but the cherished memories I have of dining here with my dad. 😊👨‍👧 This restaurant is more than just a dining spot; it’s a place where generations come together to enjoy delicious Chinese cuisine and create lasting memories. 🍽️👪 My recent visit was a delightful experience, just as it always has been. I ordered the green tea, vegetable fried rice, lo mein, veggie dumplings, and their famous orange chicken. The green tea was a perfect start, offering a refreshing touch. 🍵 The vegetable fried rice was loaded with flavor and the perfect texture. 🍚 The lo mein was an absolute delight with its savory sauce and generous portions of veggies. 🍜 The veggie dumplings were a personal favorite, perfectly steamed and bursting with flavor. 🥟 And, of course, the orange chicken, a Yang Chow classic, did not disappoint. It was crispy, tangy, and downright delicious. 🍊🍗 What I truly appreciate about Yang Chow is the consistency in both their service and food quality. The staff is always friendly and attentive, making you feel like a part of their extended family. The ambiance of Chinatown adds to the charm of this place, making every visit memorable. 🏮🏙️ But what makes Yang Chow truly exceptional is the ability to evoke those precious memories of my dad and our family gatherings. It’s a place where stories are shared, laughter is abundant, and good food is celebrated. For me, this restaurant is more than just a dining establishment; it’s a place where nostalgia, good company, and incredible Chinese food come together. 🤗❤️🍽️ I highly recommend Yang Chow Chinese Restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Chinese dining experience with a side of cherished memories. 👍

We were visiting China Town last week and my friend mentioned that the food here was delicious. The food is amazing and very good service! The restaurant needs a little tlc on the outside, but the inside is very pleasant and nicely put together. We received our food within a few minutes. 🙂 We will definitely be back.

This place was delicious! My family has always loved Chinese food, and most places have gone downhill over the years. The moment I walked in, I could smell hot and sour soup, which is my all-time favorite, so I knew I was going to order that. I've never had hot and sour soup like this before. There were pieces of meat in it with fresh green onions. It was so good. The orange chicken had a light batter, a tangy sauce, and the pieces of chicken were cut perfectly. With a lot of places, their orange chicken have too big of pieces that have an off-putting texture; each piece of this orange chicken seemed to be hand cut and didn't resemble anything else besides chicken. The soup dumplings were great, and they came with a ginger vinegar. I really liked putting their chili oil on them; it was really delicious and spicy. I got pan-fried dumplings that were good, but the dumpling wrapper was a little too thick for my liking. The chow mein was the best I've had lately. The noodles were bouncy, and the dish actually had a delicious sauce on the bottom of the plate. Typically, the chow mein I've had are all dry and somewhat overcooked; this one was perfect, and even my babies loved it! I also ordered egg rolls that were crispy and came with a sweet and sour sauce. We also ordered the kung pow three ingredients, which had a thick, savory sauce, which was also delicious. The staff here made the whole experience wonderful. They would talk to us and joke around with us, making the whole meal just beautiful. They are all down to earth and so welcoming. They recommended trying the slippery shrimp next time, and my family and I will most definitely be returning to try the dish. I recommend coming here and trying out the food, and I know everyone who does won't be disappointed. Thank you all for a wonderful meal and taking the time to make my father's birthday dinner simply amazing.

I really enjoyed this place. The food and the service were both exceptional. I ordered the slippery shrimp because that appeared to be the most popular dish based on the reviews. Initially, I thought it was a little pricey; that is, until it came. They literally give you a pile of shrimp. It's all fresh and pretty tasty too. They give you so much, that it was actually quite difficult choking it all down without needing to get a carryout box. Another thing that stood out was the service. They were all very friendly and accommodating. Overall, between the food quality, the portions and the terrific service, this place is well worth the visit.

My friend suggested we go here after hearing about their famous "slippery shrimp", and it did not disappoint. We came here for lunch during the week and were seated right away. The staff were all friendly and attentive. As we waited for our food, we admired the many pictures hanging on the walls of celebrities who have visited the restaurant. After no time at all, the dish arrived and we enjoyed as much as our stomachs could take. I will def make a stop here next time I'm in LA.

Yang Chow is hands down a hidden gem in the heart of downtown & Chinatown Los Angeles! We discovered this place in the best way, authentic naturally and of course in search of good food because of hunger. Service was okay, not as attentive as it can be, but for me I think that the food was superior and that I don't care if I have bad service. Definitely a mom and pop shop, a cross between a little fine dining and family style vibes. You wait to get seated, I don't think you would need a reservation but I'd call just in case for the future. I later found out Yang Chow is known for a staple dish, called the Slippery Shrimp which is a shrimp dish that's basked in orange sauce and it's tempura cooked! I do need to try that the next time I come here! But the dishes we tried on our first time was the crispy duck 10/10 The Yang Chow steamed dumplings 10/10 Fried chicken wings with the special sauce 10/10 All these dishes were enough for 2-4 people by the way. For appetizers we ordered delicious shrimp toast & egg rolls! 10/10 for both ! Definitely had an amazing time and will come back a

My visit to Yang Chow Restaurant was nothing short of extraordinary. The ambiance was a perfect blend of modern elegance and traditional charm, setting the stage for a memorable evening. The service was top-notch; the staff's knowledge and friendliness were exceptional. And then there's the food: each dish was a masterpiece, showcasing the chef's skill and dedication. It was an authentic culinary journey that left me craving more.

I moved to downtown almost a year ago and discovered this amazing restaurant. They are my favorite place to eat when I don’t cook. The food and service is great. Justin is one of their staff, and he is so kind. 10/10 I recommend this place!

The thing that grabs attention as you enter the modest restaurant is the walls lined with celebrities who have dined there, which is why the no-frills restaurant in LA’s Chinatown is consistently rated one of the best Chinese. The Szechuan-type cuisine may not be to everyone’s liking, but it was well-flavored and the portions generous. A place to eat your heart out inexpensively when in LA.

Pretty Chinese food at Chinatown. Personally I really liked their fried rice, stir fried lamb and shrimp dish.

Amazing food and service every time! Amazing find in LA! Everything i ordered came out in 5 mins or less. This place is amazing and deserves a try if youre in the area or even if you arent in the area! I drove 2 hours and another party drove all the way from Arizona!

Good food. It’s a place for American-style Chinese food. Sharing style portions. Customer service was top-notch. Not my typical, go-to Chinese fare especially the breaded and sweet stuff but it was good. Food was hot, crispy and fresh. I was impressed by their filtered ice cold water. Parking ranges from $3 to $8 depending on the lot. There is metered street parking available during non peak times. Free street parking is located near the train station. It was nice to walk around historic Chinatown after our meal. Cool little shops were along our walk path.

What a delightful find! Yang Chow Restaurant boasts a captivating ambiance that merges modern elegance with traditional charm. The service was prompt and courteous, making us feel like honored guests. But what truly left an impression was the food. It was a sensory journey of taste and texture. The General Tso's chicken was crispy yet tender, and the hot and sour soup was a revelation. The menu offers a wide range of options, ensuring there's something for every palate. A memorable dining experience!

It was very good, not the best, but very good. We ordered the Won Ton soup....yummy, the slippery shrimp....ehhhh just ok and Yang fried rice....very good. I was actually disappointed in the shrimp as it came highly recommended....for me not enough flavor and the spicy sauce....shhhh dont tell anyone but not spicy .....we will go back but will definitely not order slippery shrimp.

Excellent Los Angeles Landmark, a must, especially before a Dodger Game. Slippery Shrimp and the green beans with the ground pork is great. Must go place for good Chinese.
