Review Yamashiro Hollywood - Los Angeles

Marlo C.
We had a reservation made well in advance (weeks) and stated that this was a birthday celebration and our first time, requested a great view - the best they could accommodate. They delivered!! We were told by a few employees that our table was the best for views...they were right! Full LA city views from both sides of the table and no marine layer so we could see twinkling lights for miles. Our server, Vanessa, was beyond exceptional. Knowledgeable, friendly, warm, conversational, smiled, was personable, thoughtful, and treated us like we were family. It was a dinner shared between sisters, and she said we reminded her of her relationship with her sister. At the end of our meal, she brought a small glass of champagne for each of us and cheesecake to celebrate my birthday. I truly felt special and taken care of. Yamashiro is a beautiful setting with delicious food, but the service always makes or breaks a meal....and we truly felt that Vanessa elevated our experience. Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts for such a spectacular dining experience. We cannot wait to return!!!

Great Japanese fusion restaurant. Classic Japanese dishes along with very unique twists on classics. Waiter was super friendly and attentive. Food was excellent and comes in large quantities, perfect for sharing. Their desert menu is actively rotated. Being situated on top of a large hill gives an amazing view of LA and Hollywood, especially at night, while keeping away the noise of traffic and life. Prices were high, but for the service, food, and atmosphere all worth it. Highly recommended.

My camera didn't give it justice. Beautiful place and atmosphere. We were there to celebrate my cousins birthday. Our waiter, Brian, was awesome and patient. He shared his ideas on selections, and he was spot on. The drink you see is the "Purple Dragon". It was sweet and good.

If you’re looking for a good date night, celebration spot, or just a good environment to go, this is the place. This was my second time here but the first time was for a graduation party. This time we sat outside with a view overlooking Hollywood Blvd. Our waiter, Jessie was very accommodating. He was very patient with us and wasn’t overbearing like at some other places. The food was very well seasoned and it was just the right amount of food to satisfy you but not have you stuffed. Oh and if you’re thinking that the price for a place like this is out of your price range, think again. We got 2 entrees, 2 appetizers, and 2 drinks(alcoholic), $129. In todays time, that is a very good price. One more thing, the manager, Chris also came over to make sure things were good with us. Both he and Jessie were friendly. I would definitely recommend this place for a good bite to eat along with enjoying an amazing atmosphere.

The only word I have to describe this is "wow." The ambiance is simply breathtaking. Spralling views of Hollywood, Century City and Downtown from high up in the hills. The restaurant is stunning. We walked the outdoor garden and then the inside one and they were both serene and incredible. Our food could not have been better and the prices for what youre getting were actually pretty surprising. The rolls were fresh and delicious. My daughters steak was perfect. Our server was friendly and fun.

The views and vibes here are absolutely immaculate. You’re taken into a whole new world once you’re inside the restaurant. The patio oversees the DTLA views since it’s on a hill. There’s a Japanese garden with a stream of water and fish, and you can walk through it or enjoy some quiet time on a bench. My favorite dish was the toast with milk jam. BEST TOAST SANDWICH EVER!! Sweet and perfectly toasted.

The place is incredibly big. I had hoped to sit in the small courtyard, but due to the limited size of our party (only two of us), we were seated outside, where we enjoyed a view of Los Angeles. The main draw of this restaurant is its atmosphere and scenic view. However, I was not impressed with the food. It came in a weird order and really late with our drinks only arriving after we had almost finished our meal. Our waiter was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. As a vegetarian, he recommended some menu items that would suit me, but unfortunately, they lacked flavor. I would consider revisiting this place only for the atmosphere experience.

Went for my birthday! Staff was very lovely and helpful despite the large size of the establishment. Beautiful architecture, great drinks, great view, great food. Our bill was nearly 1k because we wanted to try a little bit of everything. I have 0 complaints. Food was tasty and melts in your mouth, definitely try the tomahawk steak.

The food was delicious and everything we ordered was well served and so good. Drinks were so well combined and perfect for the occasion.. The service was wonderful the waitress was very sweet and made sure we were satisfied with everything we got. So sweet she even took us a picture. The best way to celebrate my 50th birthday is because I love the restaurant so much... The ambiance is without words, so serene, the Japanese garden is beautiful I can stay there all day lol. The views are wonderful and seeing the sunset is just the cherry on top. Very affordable place... recommended it. Would come back for sure. I wish I could give 10 stars.

The portion is a bit small for what they cost, but the food is far from mediocre, they taste great. No dress code. Very LA vibe. Good for special occations, especially for those who don't eat large meals. As of late 2023, valet only parking is $15 for dinner, $10 for lunch. Yamashiro Roll and Sushi Pizza were great.

YAMASHIRO I recently had the pleasure of dining at Yamashiro Restaurant in Los Angeles, CA and I must say, it was an unforgettable experience. From the moment I stepped foot into the restaurant, I was greeted with warm hospitality and a stunning view of the city. The ambiance of Yamashiro is truly one-of-a-kind. The restaurant is situated on a hilltop, offering breathtaking panoramic views of Los Angeles. The outdoor patio is beautifully decorated with lanterns and lush greenery, creating a serene and romantic atmosphere. Inside, the decor is elegant and traditional, with intricate Japanese artwork and furnishings. Now, let's talk about the food. Yamashiro specializes in Asian fusion cuisine, and they certainly deliver on flavor. The menu offers a wide range of options, from sushi and sashimi to traditional Japanese dishes with a modern twist. I opted for the chef's tasting menu, which allowed me to sample a variety of dishes. The service at Yamashiro was impeccable. The staff was attentive and knowledgeable, providing excellent recommendations and ensuring that every need was met. The waitstaff was also well-versed in the menu, able to answer any questions and offer suggestions based on personal preferences. Overall, my experience at Yamashiro Restaurant was exceptional. The combination of stunning views, delicious food, and top-notch service made for a truly memorable dining experience. Whether you're looking for a romantic date night spot or a place to celebrate a special occasion, Yamashiro is definitely worth a visit.

It’s a beautiful experience and everyone should go at least once. The view is stunning, the food is great. Strangely the wait for a table was long even on a weeknight even though we had a reservation and we weren’t the only ones. It was stranger because there were some empty tables. My guess is that there were less serving staff. Ask for recommendations if you’re not sure what to order. We loved the sashimi, dragon roll and yes they have kid options too though it’s not listed on the menu.

Place is pretty amazing. Beautiful 360 views of the hills. The gardens and ponds are beautiful. The staff are all very friendly. Great food and drinks. We met Mike the bartender and he made us some really amazing drinks we've never tried. Was just a great experience overall and we will be back here when we visit LA. Such a great location right in the heart of Hollywood. Close to everything!

For what it's worth, it's a good restaurant with a view. The waiting time is ridiculous, they had the table ready since we arrived. We ordered a lot of food and the waiter didn't signal that it was too much. Waitering also means taking care of the clients, letting them know to maybe get a bit less and order more later if needed.

Awesome space with great views! The venue is an experience, the staff are great, and the valet is super fast. The food itself is good but very nothing stands out as superb. Standard sushi/Asian fare.

Consistently excellent food! The sushi was delicious and nicely presented. Simply can't be beat. Service was exceptional. Overall an excellent evening before a concert at the Greek theater.

A true legend at 109 years old. The atmosphere from the gardens around the restaurant, to the many choices of spots in the inside. Food was amazing.

The atmosphere and views alone are worth the trip! Add the delicious food and yummy cocktails and you have a winner! The sushi boat, an actual wooden boat of sushi, the Filet, the Teriyaki Chicken... the list goes on and it is all delicious! Highly recommend!

What a fantastic place! I highly refined it! Can eat it everyday! All the staff members are awesome. Food is hands down the best sushi in North America. Also, the place is like out of a fairytale with its decor. Unconparaible quality.
