Oh boy, where do I even begin?
I moved to LA two months ago from Florida. Upon arriving, I was greeted with a plethora of new fast food options: El Pollo Loco, Carl's Jr., and of course the legendary In-N-Out burger. But one of them stands head and shoulders above the rest; a man amongst boys, nay, a god amongst mortals: Original Tommy's.
I first went on a chilly February evening after a night out downtown at Clifton's Republic-or as I refer to it, the Endor Lounge-and my experience was transcendental. At the original location on the corner of Beverly and Rampart I first savaged the glory of a Tommy's double cheeseburger and ate the sandwich in near silence, only speaking to utter the phrase "Dude....so good".
To me, Original Tommy's gets fast food so right. The vegetables used on every burger are incredibly fresh and crisp. The tomatoes are sliced thick and provide a nice mellow touch to the savory beef. The cheese is a melted mess of heavenly creaminess. Finally, the chili is what takes these burgers from a mere meal to a full fledged nirvana.
There is nothing like a Tommy burger. Nothing in this world can compare to how well these bad boys hit the spot when you want something that will satisfy your late night craving. I adore this restaurant and think about it at least once a day. I want to eat here every day. I would. Trust me.
Every location is incredibly clean and well managed. Super efficient staff, and so so friendly, even when I stumbled in at 1 minute before closing, the staff at the North Hollywood location was more than happy to accommodate me and my friends. Thanks y'all!
I wish I could give this place a 100/10. I will go to my grave spreading the gospel of these burgers. Thank you Tommy Koulax for what you have built.
Tommy's is like home comfort food to me. I've been going to the original Tommy's on Beverly and Rampart in the mid 1950's. My parents brought me up on the chili burgers and hot dogs. Now that I live in Whittier, I regularly go to Pico Rivera with an occasional trip to Norwalk, South El Monte, and La Puente. Tommy's is a legendary fixture in Southern California that I highly recommend -- especially if you haven't tried it before.
My pops brought me here a couple of times before a Dodgers game. This time, I brought my son before his first game, and he loved it. I don't like to eat these anymore but they are so good!
Grew up with Tommy's. A little shocked how expensive they have become. This is the original Tommy's, food is great but like everything smaller and you pay more. I remember when burgers were about a buck and the goal was to provide good food to the working class. Still make the best chili!

We come here when Tommy's has their $2.99 chili cheese fries special and the $2.99 double chili cheese burger and california classic burger specials.
A lot of people don't know about the $2.99 deals that Tommy's has. If you check out their Facebook page or Instagram page, it will give you the 411 on these special promotions.
I only give 4 stars because regardless of how many times you ask them to make the french fries crispy, they just won't do it.
I like crispy fries with my chili because the chili makes it less crispy if that makes sense?
The chili is delicious.
Today I got the $2.99 California Classic burger promotion (you can get the double chili cheese burger or both kind) with an order of chili cheese fries.
TOMORROW 3/11 is the LAST day for the $2.99 burger specials. They usually have these specials at the beginning of the month and the end of the month. Just monitor their social media pages.
First off, the shop's exterior gives off an impressive vibe with its retro American style. The burger is made even better with fresh vegetables.
Born in '83 my parent's where going to this place years before that.. love this place.. Best chilli cheese burgers and fries.. I introduced my kids to this place too.. Their 19yrs old now..
You really have to have a taste for Tommy's to enjoy it. The tamale was okay. Fries good. It's in a strange area, but I felt safe. I don't know if it's like this all the time (because this location is open 24 hours), but you eat outside, standing up, on counters. I was okay with that, but it might not suit some people. It's definitely not fine dining or even close to it, no one's waiting on you, no chairs, etc. But the restroom was decently clean & everything was available; lids, straws, napkins, self-service soda fountain.
Awesome nostalgic spot. Great burgers, great prices. Great spot to eat before a Dodgers game!
Great place to visit. Their Chili burgers are a mess but oh so delicious! This location was used in the 2017 film CHiPS. With plenty of bar top places to eat and two locations to order from, this place has a great selection and plenty of parking. Highly recommend the burgers and the chili dog!
Bare bones delicious food served up to eat fresh. Many happy loyal followers here at the Original Tommy's
