Review The Griddle Cafe - Los Angeles

Sarah Cardonick
I recently traveled to California for a wedding, and was recommended to go here for breakfast. And let me tell you, it was absolutely delicious. I was only in Cali for 3 days, and I went here for breakfast twice. Both times, my boyfriend and I were sat quick and our food came out so fast. The portions were huge. So you could definitely share with multiple people. It was a little pricey but worth it to me because of how big the portions are. It’s also in a great location! I wish we had breakfast places like this in Philly. Overall 10/10 and I can’t wait to eventually come back!!

It’s important to know that the portions here are HUGE. Any dish that you get will be a lot larger than you are anticipating. That being said, they are still very good. We have been wanting to try Griddle Cafe for a while, but the the lines are usually too long. Today we arrived for a 10:30 AM Saturday brunch and were told the wait would be an hour, but it ended up being 40 minutes and it was definitely worth the wait. The only issue we had was that service was extremely slow and we didn’t get any drink refills during our meal. We chose the Poached Y Papas Benedict, the Black Magic Pancake, and the Sunset Scramble. The Benedict was good, but I did not really enjoy the potato skins on the bottom and thought the ham portion was overly generous, but it was a unique dish and I am glad that I tried it. The pancake was extremely sweet, but very good, and a great treat to have on occasion. The scramble was very good as well, we especially like the chicken sausage. Overall a great breakfast, even though service was extremely slow. I would recommend to anyone, although due to the wait times, it’s not somewhere that will be a quick stop in and out.

Sweet or savory it’s all here. They have a very big selection for pancakes, French toast and waffle and portions are HUGE! On the savory side, the egg dishes are all yummy. They also have Greek breakfast cocktails (it’s always happy hour somewhere hahaha). Watch the video for the complete breakfast menu.

Our server was friendly and attentive. The food came out in a reasonable time. The food portions are BIG! Be prepared to have leftovers. The food tasted delicious. I recommend items with potatoes and the pancakes. This is a small building and it was very loud (we visited during rush hour on a Saturday), so it is kind of hard to hear people. The delicious food and great service makes up for it though!

This place has some super good breakfast/brunch. The pancakes are so big they barely fit on the plate. You can easily split an order of pancakes between 2 people. Highly recommend if you’re in the LA area and if you’re a tourist. Heads up tho: they have fans and air going pretty high to the point it’s cold in there. Recommend bring a hoody or something. Also get there early because it can get busy quick and it’s first come first serve.

Some of the best bang for your buck pancakes around. These things are the size of vinyl records stacked 6" tall. We ate about a half of one pancake and took the rest of them home. Order one stack to share between a party of 4. We got the mounds of plenty and the snow your oats. The mounds is trying to be like a mounds candy bar (chocolate and coconut) it didn't really match the candy bar, however it's a very tasty combination if you want something sweet. The sow your oats, which is oatmeal, honey and cinnamon. It was much simpler but when ever you hit the honey it was a bust of sweetness. The only downside was that they both were a little dry, you are definitely going to need a drink to go with these. Small note, if you are coming here don't waste your time with the french toast, it is good but not nearly as indulgent as the pancakes.

Pure gluttony. We loved it. Everything is oversized, so don't be too greedy! You will have boxes for days so be aware if you're a tourist. 1 pancake will do ya or share a 3 stack with your whole family!
Erick Gabriel (IAmErickGabriel)
Hands down probably one of the best pancakes I've ever had. We had the golden banana pancake (can't recall the name) and wow. Not a big pancake person but they were amazing. Breakfast was good as well but the pancakes stole the show.

The weight is pretty decent. It’s not short but it’s not really really long. So many selections of pancakes. The wait to be seated was not long opening Sunday. I don’t know how much you guys can eat, but make sure you come with two or three people to finish those pancakes.

The food here was both very filling and extremely tasty for the price. It's the best brunch/breakfast place here in Los Angeles. After many disappointments during my time here, this was definitely an exception. My friend and I were not even able to finish half of the pancakes or the French toast. Even though in the picture below each of us had an egg dish neither of us were able to finish half of that either. The waiter went above and beyond to serve us, especially considering it was our first time there. If you are ever in LA, you should come here for brunch; it is the best, hands down. Even though it's not their specialty, the omelette and egg options were also very filling. It's not that pricey compared to a lot of other places in LA in terms of quality and quantity. You will not be disappointed!

well i’m a canadian so maybe i’m just not used to it, but the portions here are HUGE and don’t let it fool you just because of the portion size, nothing is taken away from the quality of the food here. i was transported to another world when i had the first bite of my peanut butter french toast, and then red velvet pancake melted in your mouth. oh and the coffee is top tier.

When I tell you this colossal Pancake 🥞 stack really made my day. Whenever you need a pick me up pull up to The Griddle 😜 ultra gratitude to the Managers Staff who always welcome me with open hearts and arms Everytime 💖 see you all very soon.

It is pretty cramped inside. Since it's so busy, the service can be a little slow. But man, the pancakes are huge. I really liked the French press coffee. I'd say it's worth the wait and the price.

If this isn't an LA icon, it should be. We came early and got a seat quickly. They have booths, tables, and limited counter seating. Arrive early or have patience. The wait will be worth it. The portions are large, so order accordingly. The french press coffee served at the table was excellent. For three people we ordered 1 serving of pancakes (3 in a stack) and eggs, potatoes, and ham. The ham slice was as large as the plate and the pancakes were larger than a regular fork. The 3 of us did not finish. We tried!!! Service was prompt and and always helpful.

Wow, do not miss this place if you're in LA! I got the Selfie on Sunset pancake (cinnamon, sugar and chocolate) it was the best pancake I've ever had! The sausage was also just as delicious and the egg cooked perfectly! My waitress was also super friendly! Highly recommend!

BEST BREAKFAST SPOT! HUGE PORTIONS! You NEED to visit here on a empty stomach! We both ended up taking left overs back to our hotel as it was too good to leave! Known for their French Toast- would recommend sharing if there is a 2 of you. Highly recommend the French Press coffee, 1 pot is enough for 4 people easily! WIFI- YES RESTROOM- YES

Wonderful views, 10/10 decor and great food! This cafe has arguably the best location of any restaurant in LA. You probably will have to wait 2 hours+ but it is worth it. Make sure to get the pancakes because the portions are huge. The staff are lovely too. I strongly recommend this place for brunch!

i love this place and the taste its good.

You will need a nap after

If breakfast is your favorite meal, you will love this place. If you have a sweet tooth you will LOVE this place. The catch is that the restaurant is tiny and there is always a long line and there isn't much shade so you will be standing out in the sun on the sidewalk for a bit. You can buy sunscreen next door at Rite Aid, though! I always need a nap after I eat here as the food is very heavy.

I love the desserts in this spot. The atmosphere is really easy going and love going there. The staff is in the mood every time. You have a big choice of food and drink but still my favorite is the desserts there. Maybe the best I have had in the city. Love you and see you soon
Jeston R
The food here is absolutely wonderful and filling. You definitely get a bang for your buck. The atmosphere is kind of loud because of the music. And it's kinda small on the inside but if you're into cozy and personable service, then this is a perfect place.

We loved the food, but there was way too much in each serving. You could get it packed to take with you and I really wish we had because I felt bad wasting all that food when the streets outside had so many homeless on them.
But the food is gorgeous.

Love the atmosphere here. That is best place for couples. Surrounding and atmosphere is great. Worth going there. Really a nice place to visit

Amazing breakfast I had here! Food was delicious and the service was great too!

Food: 4/5
Service: 4.5/5
Ambience: 4/5
Value For Money: 3.5/5
Overall: 4/5

I love this place! They have big portions and good tasting food. The pancake are huge and there are variety of choices. The cafe is busy. The staff is very helpful. Great food and great price!

Beyond Perfect Breakfast

Amazing breakfast experience. Service is great and food is delicious with a large variety of meals to pick from. Allocate enough time, it is crowded and you have to wait outside to be seated. Also, plan $25 per person for your budget. I would return.

i really appreciate service by young tall blond gentelman (sorry, can not recall the name), but i was really dissapointed by this place due to various reasons:hygiene(in restroom, and coffee cup smelled of eggs), food quality (we ordered omlet,i guess the cheese was spoiled, and panckes whole weat was super dry, orange juice tasted weird as well, coffee was ok, and hot water with lemon was good;)how this place is rated 4,7 is the biggest surprise to me.we waited in a long quee, believing its really good, but it was not..
we did not raise our concerns, cause we had other things to take care of, we took left over, thinking that we would finish later, but we never did so.i know its our mistake not to address issues there, but perhaps we are those customers who silently will not come back.

Waffle ❤️ Enjoyed The Experience....Food Was Tasty.... Well behaved staff.... The Food Was Fresh As it just dint look but tasted aswell... visit the for some food waffles...❤️

To die for! The line was down the street but was quick and worth it. Tip: go inside to put your name and party size down before waiting outside. Banana Pancakes were amazing and could feed a whole family of 5! Parking along the side streets can be found a few blocks southeast.
Steffy NG
i ordered the brunch menu but i forgot the name of it! mannnn the egg was so good, idk what they putted. i never taste anything like these eggs before. besides the brunch menu, we ordered the sandwich which was ok, the taco was good, the pancake was too much for our party. overall, if i had a chance to visit LA again i will deff go dine here!
Sam Solakyan
Incredible delicious food with unique combinations for breakfast. Crowded place. I ordered shrimp and egg whites with pesto. Superb food with Good price.

Waited 40 minutes to enter, I thought to myself that it is worth the wait and that I had to taste the pancakes there.
They are famous not for their taste but maybe for the ridiculous oversized pancakes and not for the taste of it. Everything tasted like standard pancake no more no less.
I shouldn't have had high expectations at the first place.
To top that it is a bit overpriced.
Verdict : come to taste the welcome to America meal once and that's it. If you are looking for originality pass along it is not worth the wait.
Proxyfone
Went for a very nice brunch, with a very nice beer. It's pretty cozy, but we were the only large party so got to have a big table in the middle.

I really enjoyed the Crispy Potato Cubes, as well as the rest of the food including the Eggs Benedict, and it all had a particularly nice presentation

I generally don't write reviews, but after having breakfast here I couldn't resist myself to post a review. Amazing food point for the breakfast. I always come here when I got time from my busy schedule.

The Food is so good. Its hot and fresh. Service is very fast and their staff is very professional. Overall, I enjoyed very much and can't wait to visit here again.
Grace Cevahir
It's always busy, and you'll have to wait In line, but it's worth the wait. I would defiantly reccommend the red velvet pancakes, and make sure to get some extra frosting. It's so damn good, and in my opinion their signature dish.
Bobby Fricks
The atmosphere is fantastic. The food is huge and very, very good. They were a bit slow when it came to service or my rating would have been a 5.

We flew into LAX on a Saturday morning from Sydney and our friends from LA took us straight the the Griddle Cafe for breakfast. They boasted that the Griddle was the best place in LA for breakfast and after our visit - we can understand how.

Being from Australia, we were not expecting such large portion sizes but as we only had been on airline food for the past 16 hours, it didn't take long to "chow down" and put away almost our whole meals. The meals were amazing and very tasty.

I highly recommend the stack of pancakes - I have never seen such dinner plate sized pancakes before, but they were so light.

The service was exceptional - our wait staff was very efficient and friendly (I know they work for tips but this was an experience we rarely see in Aust).

We left full and happy. It made the 5 hour sleep after we arrived at our friends' place a very easy task.

Oreo cookies pancake looked amazing. The eatery is next to the academy awards office and many famous stars have eaten and frequent the eatery. The food is so good we ate next two policemen enjoying thier custom topped pancakes. I enjoyed the bacon, egg and has brown plate. Coffee is hot and fresh. Can't wait to go again. Parking can be tough so go around the corner and park down the neighborhood street.
Amelia
We had to wait for this cafe but it was worth it - giant red velvet pancakes! We had to share. A great cure for our jetlag, as we had just arrived from Australia!
Anthony Jones-DeBerry
Food was really good and fresh. They have a ton of options which is a bit overwhelming but also really creative. We had omelettes and a red velvet pancake. Everything was amazing especially the pancake! Beware on the pancakes though. They are HUGE! I think all of them come with 3 each order which I honestly don't think 4 people could finish. The red velvet pancake only comes with one and it was so big the two of us couldn't finish it. It was great for dessert later though! The French press coffee may be the best part of the place. It's fairly rare that a breakfast place that is that casual would have French press coffee. I loved it! The service can be a bit slow though. It was pretty busy I know but we were sitting at the counter so there really shouldn't have been that long of a wait to get someone's attention. but
Anthony Walker
Wow my eyes were bigger than my tummy ! Not just over the top but damn good food in those over the top portions. Get here early if you don't wish to wait in a long line. If you do it's well worth the trouble .....
Veronica Saha
I was lucky enough to visit the cafe more than twice in a week, people wait outside in long queues to get the bite of the pancakes and french toasts...the Mama's French toasts was simply the best, including the banana pancake and the griddle cafe...yummmm...yummmm...an indulgence of dream...LA and sweetness...what else do I need in Hollywood...
Aziz Al Kayyoomi
I was in Los Angeles for a week and I was hoping to eat in this cafe every single day, their food is just great their pancakes are legendary
Ahmed
Always busy always a que but so worth the wait !
Mama's French toast is simply the best French toast ! And red velvet pancakes are amazing !

Must try !

This place is perfect for breakfast anytime of the day. The pancakes are ENORMOUS. Think about the biggest pancake you've ever seen--the pancakes here are even bigger. I had the pumpkin pancakes with pumpkin puree and cinnamon and vanilla homemade whipped cream. My friend had banana pancakes with brown sugar whipped cream. HOLY SMOKES. One serving is two pancakes and you probably won't come close to finishing.
Katie Holland
Such good food, big portions for decent prices, unlimited coffee (and iced!), dog friendly out on the sidewalk-patio-thingy (6 tables?) In all, great spot!

Amazing breakfast! Order the noisella stuffed French toast. it is the best! what you are reading is true.the portions are huge and you are not coming for the ambiance.you are here to eat .come once and you will be hooked forever.it's that good.

Just lovit. Normally the people who are from turkey doesnt like american breakfast but it was really totally different experience. Suggested. And enjoyed.

Wow, I am so glad May is over! For it being the “start of summer”, it was quite an exhausting one. This past week alone has been one of my most busiest yet, and so I inevitably had some strong sugar cravings by the time the weekend rolled around!. My featured pint for the weekend was this Ben & Jerry’s Hazed and Confused Core. Even after an exhausting Saturday morning in lab, I managed to walk over to the grocery store and pick this up. I intended to have it on Sunday evening, but my craving was so strong that I ended up having it on Saturday night. I mean, how can that be a bad choice when paired with a movie to watch on TV ?
Redqueen23
Love it. I make a point of visiting this place at least once each time I am in LA. Love their french toast.

Bigger is Better. Holy mother of all that is giant. American portions done right. Come famished. In fact when coming here for breakfast/brunch, I highly suggest you skip dinner the night before. Also leave all your snug fitted clothes at home, it'll do you no good my friend.

My gal pal and I had a side of turkey sausage, bacon, and the Golden Ticket stack- washing it all down with mimosas. No lie, the pancakes alone are about 10" in diameter. In layman's terms, BIGGER THAN YOUR FACE. The cakes fluffy and delicious with a nice crunchy texture from the crumble topping. Bacon full of flavor and ever so crispy. It's the perfect place to eat until it hurts and eat just a little bit more. No judgement here folks.

So bib up, unbutton those pantalones and chow down. Avoid liquids no matter how thirsty if you want to maximize your caloric intake. The portions here will ignite the inner competitive eater in all of us. Channel the Kobayashi within.

Tip: on weekends the wait can be quite long, if you're up for it I suggest getting there before 11am.

Happy family from Oz. Frequent travelers tipped us off, well worth a visit if your looking for a great local breakfast and a real coffee!
All food was generous in portion and tasty with the Sunset people scramble and the Red velvet pancake worth the the trip all the way from Australia.
Franco
YUMMY!. Love the place, One of my hangouts and never get tired of the food.
Curious4645
It was okay. The signature french toast was great, but the "mexican" style egg dish I had was so-so. We both said we would not repeat visit the Griddle Cafe.

Yes, Yes, Yes ! ! !

Amazing!!. We hit this place for breakfast every time we go to L.A. Love the red velvet pancakes, Tis the Season, oreo pancakes, creme french toast....oooohhhh it is all so good. Portions are ridiculous so try to share with a friend. Otherwise you will have leftovers. Place is always busy but they usually get you in relatively quickly. Service is quick.

Outstanding Coffee. The Griddle Cafe is an amazing LA experience. The vibe is casual and fun, the breakfasts are good, and, believe it or not, the coffee is exceptional. They serve it in an individual French Coffee Press. It is my favorite coffee in LA.
Of course, the Griddle is famous for its very large servings. But you can always downsize to just one pancake, which is just right for me.
Mord4k
Definitely Worth The Wait. I have yet to go to The Griddle Cafe and not found myself waiting in line. That being said, the food always makes up for however long I'm waiting for. Everything from the insane variety of pancakes the size of hubcaps to the more unusual egg dishes is outstanding. It's my first pick for breakfast places in the area.
Sally
Waffles. I wish this place wasn't as crowded or I would be here every weekend for my waffles fix!
Foodie78
Huge Portions. The pancake portions are massive; I think you'd have to be a competitive eater to finish them in one sitting. Pancakes could easily be shared with 2 others. Diners near me had omelets; looked tasty and got good reviews. Wish I had the room to try one. It's small inside and crowded but the wait wasn't too long.
LP
I went there for lunch and it was wonderful. I ate the apple crusted French toast and it was extraordinary' the wait staff were wonderful as well. Highly recommend this establishment.
Kitty Fishinger
Glorified I-Hop with slightly better coffee. Long waits, old tasting food and a smell of syrup so sickening, you could pass out.
Mrzbrown24
Took my sis here for her bday and we fell n love. We all ordered different items so we could sample everything. The portion sizes are huge so u get ur dollars worth. I had the red velvet pancakes w eggs n hash browns. Mmmmm. The only complaint I would hv is my mimosa was so tiny, I almost needed a magnifying glass to see it. Wonderful restaurant.
El Foodie
Huge tasty pancakes. Good French pressed coffee. Loud ,crowded & cozy restaurant. Wat else can a Foodie ask for..
Citizen David
Fantastic for breakfast. All sorts of amazing pancakes, great French toast, and excellent omlettes. Cool place, good service.
Mark
A breakfast worth waiting for. We eat here everytime we are in town. No matter how long the wait, it is worth it. The breakfast is so good, we've never gotten to the lunch items. The Red Velvet pancake? The best, although the Oreo pancake now rivals it in my family. And the French Press coffee is great. The waitstaff is very friendly and attentive.
Dexytexy
We went here to see what the big line up was for. Based on the amount of people we thought a celebrity was in the building. Turns out the people were waiting for the cafe! We waited in line for over an hour, the host did a great job making sure the waiting list was up to date. Based on advice from other reviews, we got the poached y papa eggs Benedict and the red velvet pancake. The portions of both dishes are enormous. The eggs Benedict were good, we liked the combination with the potato hash brown instead of English muffin. It should be shared because it contains 3 eggs. The red velvet pancake was pretty disappointing, I'd prefer to eat a red velvet cupcake after being smashed flat. We found the pancake to be really dry, you need to add maple syrup. Overall the restaurant looked good but we didn't think it was worth the wait.
The_phantom_foodie
Best Breakfast in Hollywood. Visited in the Summer and was surprised at the choices avliable. I chose the Red Velvet Pancakes with the Cream Cheese Icing. This was absoulately the best pancake I have ever eaten. The bacon was cooked crisp and very good. Griddle Cafe rates in the top of my list for Breakfast. I give it 5/5 Plates!
Kirby
"Chicago Charlie's" Scramble. Really enjoyed this--eggs, italian sausage, green peppers, bacon, potatoes, lots of cheese, onions--amazing. flavor was really spot on and savory.
also had the red velvet pancake--should have eaten it while it was hot (waited until I was too full from the chicago scramble!), but otherwise, great sweet ending to my breakfast!
CommonEater
Good. I liked it but my expectations were too high.

Great waffle and pancakes. GREAT place for waffle and pancakes. Will return..
Yousoandso
Filthy waiters. Waiters from rehab program - good. - Dirty finger nails, nervous, sweaty and anxious - not so much.
TBM
TBM. This place has an awesome hollywood diner feel with some of the best breakfast food around. I've had a few different dishes and have never been disappointed. Just keep in mind when ordering that these dishes are huge! Two to three people could eat one of the french toast or waffle dishes and still consume a small side dish comfortably.
Jillo
Griddle.bomb. Their banana nana pancakes are the best I have ever had!! I always have left overs and I always leave satisfied. Yes, the wait can be a pain but get there early to avoid the crowd. I've waited an hour before but it was totally worth it!

Benedict and Sweet Things. I've now made two 800-mile round trips just to eat at The Griddle Cafe. I'm addicted to their version of eggs benedict over potato skins. My husband, he of the sweet tooth, loved the Red Velvet Pancakes and Mom's French Toast. Not at the same time though, as the portions are gigantic!

There's ample parking behind the restaurant and Rite Aid. Be prepared to wait for a table as the place is small.

Up to the Hype. Being Sunday, my boyfriend and I wanted, unsurprisingly, to go to brunch (brunch being that awesome excuse to sleep really late and then still order breakfast). After some online research, we decided to go to The Griddle Cafe on Sunset. The line was long at 1:00, and I'll be the first to admit we were a bit discouraged (and very hungry). However, we stuck it out, and when the two couples in front of us refused a little sunny outside table, we snagged it, cutting our predicted half-hour wait to fifteen minutes. B (the boyfriend), foodie that he is, spent the brief period before we were helped taste-testing the mustard and maple syrup, both of which were especially good. He ordered the Strawberries and Cream Waffle with a side of bacon (and an Arnold Palmer) and I got the "Poached y Papas" eggs benedict (and lemonade). Everything was delicious. The lemonade was nicely sour and made a great Arnold Palmer with the homemade iced tea, and the bacon was the best bacon I'd had in a long time - thick, and smoky. The "cream" on the waffle was an amazing sour cream-brown sugar combination, and the strawberries were fresh and plentiful. I do wish the waffle had been a little lighter, though B was happy with it. My eggs benedict were awesome - crispy potato skins held a thick slice of ham, topped by two poached eggs and piles of that heavenly sauce called hollandaise. I also added avocado. Again, if any adjustments needed to be made, they were minor - I, for instance, prefer my poached eggs slightly runnier, but that wasn't ruining anything. The meal wasn't the cheapest brunch I've ever had - it came to $40 for the two of us - but was, we agreed, worth it (the bacon, at four slices for $5, was particularly pricey). We'll be back. Soon.

All I Can Say Is "Wow"!. I had read about the Griddle Cafe before deciding to come here with a group of friends on Saturday, but the reviews don't do this place justice. Yes, we did wait about 45 minutes to get in, but the wait was well worth it.

The atmosphere is casual, energetic, and definitely shows that this place has a personality. The staff was friendly and gave our party some great recommendations. One member of my party was going to order the waffle with strawberries--our server steered him to the French toast topped with strawberries instead. I tried some and can honestly say that it was some of the best I have ever tasted.

The rest of our group ordered a varied cross section of the menu. Everything was delicious and the portions were more than generous. We had planned to have lunch a few hours later and none of us were hungry again until dinner. Another completely awesome thing about the Griddle is that all of the coffee is served French pressed and as soon as you finish one press, they'll bring you out another!

I absolutely loved everything about this place and will definitely be back in the future!

First Time. Walking up to The Griddle Cafe is, not necessarily intimidating, but possible confusing. Luckily for me, everyone was nice enough to point me in the right direction. Go inside, put your name down, and this awesome dude will tell you which line to stand in. The restaurant is extremely casual and the employees are friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere is the same and the not-so-small restaurant was incredibly loud, but that is fine by me. Everyone is packed so be ready to sit shoulder-to-shoulder with a stranger. I ordered Tis the Season - pumpkin pancakes. They were much larger than I expected; sprinkled with powered sugar; dripping in whipped cream and butter, and a pleasant amount of pumpkin filling. Hot to order and hot to the last bite (I posted a picture of them and yes, I finished them).

I came to LA from NYC with some friends and I decided to try transition to find a good breakfast spot. Very glad I did! Griddle cafe was hopping, service was fast and the food was excellent! If it want for transition we would have drove right past it!
Michelle
Cool place. Kinda dark inside, & quite busy. May have to wait in line if you get there during late breakfast time. HUGE portions-more than enough food to split a meal. Coffee is to die for...probably best I've ever had. Ultimate hangover food-would highly recommend!
Princess Di
OMG This is wonderful cafe w/delicious pancakes the size of your plate. You can get 1,2 or 3. The pumkin are yummy. The coffee is served in a press light, medium or dark. I was in heaven. I can't wait to go back & try something else Great place to people watch .
Inga
Long line, average food, disastrous hipsters.. The food here is not nearly worth standing in line or putting up with sad, loud, aspirational could-bes at the next table. Service is not really service at all. The servers, too, seem very sad and obviously exhausted. Many better places nearby with a nicer energy and really good food.
Barry Floyd
Great breakfast spot. You won't leave hungry. My only complaint is that the oversized portions probably means that a lot of food gets wasted.
New England Foodie
Unbelievable Breakfast!. Be prepared to wait, but it will be worth it! The pancakes are almost as good as Haven Cafe in Lenox, MA (which is saying a lot). The burrito with homemade chili is amazing. You can even pick out how hot you would like your chili, using their 1-10 scale. They also offer think sliced bacon! A must for any breakfast place!
TravelWise
Squishy, good.. This place usually has a humongous line outside. Went there one morning when my neighbors woke me up a bit too early and this place had just opened. Nice diner-like environment, friendly staff. The Banana-Nana pancakes were very good (large variety of very unique pancakes) as was the latte - hit the spot. I wouldn't hang outside waiting to get a table for what I assume to be a 45-90 minute normal wait time. It was very good especially if you're into pancakes, just not earth-shattering.
Steven Carlisle
Great Food. We ventured into the Griddle Cafe this morning for pancakes and french toast. It was surprisingly busy at 9:00am as other places in WeHo we have been to at that time were not yet busy. I had the Red Velvet Pancake which was amazingly fluffy and the size of a dinner plate. My partner had the Peanut Bubba French Toast whihc after stealing a few bits I can safely say puts a new spin on peanut butter crunch cereal. Expect large portions and great french press coffee!
Scarabqueen
OMG *huge* portions. Probably the best pancakes I have *ever* had - in fact I am still thinking of them. I had the "Sow Your Oats", a perfectly cooked blend of honey, cinnamon and oats that completely covered my plate. In fact, it overlapped the edges of the plate. I was only able to enjoy a 1/4 of the fantastic creation before I called uncle. But I would do it all over again in a heartbeat!
RDS
Chili discontinued!. This place is usually slammed, but it's cozy, albeit loud. The music is old Delta blues, which goes well with a coffee press a pile of eggs and some thick cut bacon. The pancakes are the size of a manhole cover, so be ready to share. And the chili vendor went out of business, but it's a better breakfast spot anyway. Might want to avoid after 11 on the weekends because the previous night's revelers roll out of bed and straight to the Griddle!
David
4 jaded New Yorkers looking for a memorable breakfast in LA before attending a wedding later in the day. After a little screw-up when someone else cut the waiting line by assuming our identity, we did get seated and the host made it up to us. Not even necesary. All the noise descriptions are accurate, and the place us packed in tight. But the menu choices - they don't exist anywhere else in nature. French press coffee was terrific. Varieties of French toast and pancakes that are beyond imagination. And everyone takes a package home because you can't finish anything there. So worth the wait on the street, and even the identity thief.

'real Hollywood'. All I have to say is ....go there and experience....

Decadent. French toast, bacon, pancakes, crazy benedict, huge sandwiches. This place is packed for many reasons.

Dont Bother. The place is dirty

The portions were huge! I had the "Apple Cobbler French Toast" and it was amazing. The quality of food was great, and the service was great. We didn't have to wait too long as the weather was miserable, which was definitely a plus for us. Highly recommended.

Super yummy. Try the some like it hot scramble. Delicious egg scramble with big chunks of spicy chicken sausage and avocado served with newly fried tortily chips. Delicious! Banana pancakes yummy too but huge and super filling. Can't wait to come back to try other things. Line up can be long on weekends. Suggest coming after 3 pm to avoid lines.

THE BEST Breakfast in Southern California. The Griddle Café is hands-down THE BEST breakfast in Southern California. I've been there at least 10 times now and everything (although, I must admit that the "Hear Me Roar" pancakes and the "Hoagie" omelet gets more than their fair share of my attention) I've ever tried there has been simply amazing. Even the fresh OJ and the French press coffee are awesome. Just beware that a "normal" order of pancakes far too much food for a normal person to eat. Each pancake is as large as a salad plate sized and about a half-inch thick. Luckily you can specify if you want just 1 or 2 pancakes. Also, the place is pretty small and not very fancy (some might even affectionately describe it as a "dive"), but the food is SOOO worth it.

Made our week!. Just spent a week in LA - researched many different restaurants. Hands down "The Griddle" wins! We went on a Thursday - no line - parked in the back - free parking. 4 of us ordered all different things - the Oreo pancakes were awesome. The Apple Cobbler French Toast - was outrageous and the Banana Pancakes were the best I've ever tasted. Sat next to a celebrity and went home with plenty of leftovers. A+++

The pancakes that I ate were the biggest and tastiest that I have ever had

Pancakes as Portly as Pizzas. I love this place and its always a "must try" when I have guests in town. Ask for the "super-cala-fragalistic-espy-aladocious" for a special treat, that's not on the menu. My favorite: the "tis' the season" - pumpkin pancakes, and I have them add chocolate chips. Be for-warned though, no one can eat a full order of three pancakes - request just one, or you'll be giving your leftovers to the homeless gents that troll the parking lot.

Great Breakfast - get there before 10AM.... ...especially on the weekends. It's the difference between not waiting at all and waiting thirty minutes.

Obviously, their Pancakes are ridiculously huge and delicious.

But, straying from the pancake menu is good, too. Their 'Gone Shrimpin' is a great, healthy alternative.

Try their chicken tequilla sausage. It's fantastic.

Their coffee is strong. Their staff is cool. Grab an LA Weekly, sit at the breakfast counter and take it all in...

Breakfest. The breakfest menu here is great! Spot by on a Sunday Morning. it's crowded but worth it!

Yummy...but. Don't go on a Sat or Sun morning. You may never get in. If you do get in have the peanut butter french toast. You may need an ambulance later but, it'll be worth it. Also, last time I was there they only had French press coffee... no drip. Well nobody's perfect.

In layman's terms, BIGGER THAN YOUR FACE. The cakes, fluffy and delicious with a nice crunchy texture from the crumble topping. Bacon full of flavor and ever so crispy. It's the perfect place to eat until it hurts and eat just a little bit more. No judgement here folks.

I would definitely recommend The Griddle Cafe for both the locals living in Los Angeles or to tourists visiting the city. It's a fun atmosphere and my family had a good time. How can you not enjoy this family-friendly and casual-date-friendly restaurant? Kids are stuffing pancakes twice the size of their head into their mouths and parents are happy because it's cheap and good value. As a breakfast-lover, I can say Griddle Cafe is good at what they're famous of. The Griddle Cafe is the place to be for breakfast and don't let the long line-up deter your hopes. Fluffy pancakes and an eggcellent brekkie will soon be in your mouth.

Listen, I like the Griddle. I had a great time with the ladies I was with, and had a great meal. The only problem is…is a breakfast…any breakfast…worth an hour’s wait to get to? Even with the fantastic omelets and the manhole cover sized Pancakes, it’s still a damn good place…if you can get in.

If you want to get your paws on their dreamy pancakes but simply can’t suffer the wait, you have a few options. One, go at off-hours. Two, try their takeaway service (though you run the risk of soggy pancakes–ick). Or three, head to The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf across the street while you wait and nurse an Ice Blended Mocha to take the edge off your hunger…and get that much-needed caffeine pumping through your party-weary system.

The pancakes, however super-sized and loaded with so much sugar I could’ve contracted diabetes, were much better. I suggest sticking to those if you plan on going.

Breakfast goes all day at Griddle Cafe, but be sure to arrive early because this restaurant will be packed the moment they open their doors for business. You will be surprised by Griddle Cafe's creative menu with indulgence pancakes, soulful eggs and screaming tacos as their specialities.

Dreams come true. ♥♥♥ The buttermilk waffle was perfect and sweet, plenty to eat without any sides. See more at goo.gl/8EKMmJ. #JesseBluma #PointeViven #Zomato #Restaurants #LA #Hollywood

In this era of small plates, carbon footprints and the ubiquitous Prius, it’s refreshing to find a place that shamelessly embraces excess. The Griddle Cafe on Sunset in Hollywood is such a place. It serves breakfast until 4:00 in the afternoon every day and the portions are large, ridiculously large. The Griddle Cafe is best known for its pancakes, waffles and French toast, which come in dozens of varieties and are stuffed with things like butterscotch, peanut butter, crushed oreos, pumpkin pie filling, brown sugar-baked bananas and Nutella, and topped with whipped cream, powdered sugar or struesel (not to mention the maple syrup they give you to pour over the whole thing). Their signature dish is the “Red Velvet PanCAKE,” which is covered with swirls of cream cheese icing. Just one can feed a small army. But despite the fun of the Willy Wonka-esqe menu, I’m not really a huge fan of these griddled monstrosities. I find them too sweet and prefer my flapjacks more refined. I usually opt

One thing you will notice when you are seated is the Griddle Cafe really likes to pack people in there.

... The Griddle Cafe (@thegriddlecafe) is sure to be something special if you're looking to have a memorable meal. While they have an attractive lunch menu of sandwiches, salads, and burgers, my four friends and I came here for one thing, and one thing only: the all-day breakfast menu. Notorious for their one-of-a-kind pancake creations, one can satisfy both breakfast AND dessert cravings with flapjacks and/or french toast covered in chocolate chips, butterscotch, Nutella, Oreos, or even punpkin pie filling.

The Griddle Cafe has numerous other options for diners. Some that seem to stand out to me are the BLUESberry (blueberry filled flapjacks with blueberry sour cream and sugar), Apple Cobbler (apple bread rolled in cinnamon crunch batter), Red Velvet panCAKE (red velvet topped with cream cheese icing), Barry Yellow (raspberry and lemon pancakes). Gee, I wonder if he likes fruit on his breakfast foods? Anyway, thanks to the pictures in my email and a visit to the menu, I have now moved Hollywood much further up my “must visit” list. It has cracked the top 50.
