Review Magic Castle - Los Angeles

Reed B
Let me start off by saying that The Magic Castle is a private club and if you don’t know a member the only way (as of fall 2023) to get in is by staying a night at the Magic Castle hotel. That being said, if you are a fan of Magic - spending a night at the Magic Castle must be on your bucket list. It really is a special place filled with amazing magical acts of all types, a nice (if overpriced) restaurant and many great bars. Plan to spend the entire night from open to close and you still won’t get to see every act that you want. If you can avoid going on a weekend that will help with some of the lines inside. With a dinner purchase you get one reserved seat per person to the main showroom show but all the other showrooms are first come first serve. No pictures or video are allowed anywhere inside and formal dress is required. Can’t wait to go back!

I have always wanted to explore the inside of this majestic building… We were so lucky to receive an invite from a member, and the dream came true! I’m not going to give details; the fun is in not knowing everything ahead of time, and this place’s mystique is well deserved. Formal attire is required and it was incredible to see everyone there in gorgeous clothes. Enjoy it; there are few places left like this. The building is all that you imagine it will be! I was in awe and loved every minute. Dinner there was incredible. Everyone in our party ordered something different and it was all fantastic..even cocktails with magic bubbles! You are then entertained all evening with shows from gifted magicians. It was a “little magic in an everyday life” for us! This was an incredible experience for our family and we are grateful for the invitation and the hospitality that everyone at the Castle provided! If you get to go.. make the most of every moment.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Magic Castle offers a truly enchanting night. The atmosphere is steeped in old-world charm and each magician delivers top-notch performances that will leave you in awe. A unique, must-visit venue for magic enthusiasts and casual visitors alike. Highly recommended!

This place is absolutely stunning. Takes you back to 1845 magical art , this place you have to get invite to go in. So if you hear someone that has any connection with Magic Castle, you have to be his friend please!!! you have no idea how beautiful and magical displays. The vibes are absolutely different than everything you do here in Los Angeles. The food inside is amazing and more than that. I cannot tell to not destroy your surprise.

The building is fantastic, the food was delicious, I had the beef Wellington, but deducting a star because the service was awful. The hostess and entry staff were so rude, on the way in and the way out. Really left a sour taste. Everyone inside was delightful, especially the usher to the showroom. Worth going for the experience.

What an amazing or should I say magical place. The atmosphere is mesmerising and the performers are world class.

Had the most amazing experience! Brunch food was delicious and one of our favorite magicians was performing today @JamesKnight! If you enjoy mentalism performances please check out James Knight!

What a fun and magical evening! The magic castle is truly a unique and elegant experience! In addition to the wonderful magic performances, the food and drinks are delicious (and not too pricey when compared to other specialty venues). The staff is warm and welcoming, but quite strict about the house rules, such as dress code. If you are lucky enough to get an invitation, you should definitely pay them a visit!

We recently went here for brunch with my kids after learning that this was indeed a real thing and not just a punchline from Arrested Development. :D We had a blast, the shows were really amazing and the staff were incredibly accommodating for my husband who is a wheelchair user. We were really pleasantly surprised how fantastic the staff were helping us navigate the seating and shows so he could participate. We can't wait to come back and go to the evening show. 10/10!

Wonderful unique eclectic building providing good food and impressive variety of magicians! Even better if you are fortunate enough to be a guest of a member. Put it on your bucket list!

getting it out of the way: food was really good with decent portion size BUT crazy expensive. it was good but not THAT good. anyway, everything else? AMAZING! i wasnt the one that booked our visit but if you can go and just pay the entrance fee and not have to get dinner, it is completely worth it! i wish i could have stayed longer and went around the mansion more. there's a LOT of magicians all around in small rooms that aren't even on the flyer so make sure to walk around! it's really an amazing experience, especially if you like magic. i hope to go again in the future!

I'll start with the bad, which in relation to everything else, was miniscule. The food is not on par with the establishment at all. I went with my wife and my mom. I ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, my mom ordered the Beef Wellington and my Wife ordered the Fillet. My food was an absolute home run. The sea bass might have been the best fish I've ever had. The roasted potatoes were well seasoned and cooked perfectly with a slight crunch. My wife's fillet was near inedible. It had no sear at all and no seasoning at all. It was a perfect medium rare, but it was like eating blanched meat. My mom's Wellington suffered the same fate. The puff pastry wasn't even redeeming and was semi soggy with no flavor. The beef inside was cooked perfectly, but again, had zero flavor. It was very disappointing for them because the evening was amazing and for a high end restaurant in an exclusive location, it fell flat on its face (minus my meal which was great.) As for the castle itself, it's hard to begin. It's in a secluded location and feels very secretive and fun just arriving. The secret entrance was a neat surprise and the first bar you walk into sets the stage for what is/was the best cocktail experience of my life. Every single drink we ordered delivered beyond expectations. The environment is so rare to find in the bustle of LA, that it feels like your stumbled into a time machine. The bartender in the lower level with a slight studder served up great drinks with excellent service AND happened to perform some amazing tricks right in front of us. Suffice it to say, we all had a near perfect night. Had the food been better, this might be the best date night out option available in the US. Independent of my company, 10/10. With their meals included, 8.5/10.

Took the family and a few friends for Saturday brunch. Yes, they have a brunch option. This is great if you have young ones in your group since you must be over 21 in the evening. Being an East Coaster, we don't get to Hollywood often, but we love going to The Magic Castle when in town. Yes, it's a member only club unless you are an invited guest, so don't just stroll up and expect to get in. While the dress code is very specific and enforced in the evening, Brunch does allow for a more relaxed option, but still no jeans or sneakers. Brunch is a buffet of amazing food options, and the staff are very attentive, ensuring a pleasant and enjoyable experience. They are shows to attend and like so many others, the up close rooms are a favorite of mine. If you have the chance, highly recommend going.

As a person who isn't particularly interested in magic I had a great time. My old fashioned was delicious, my pasta very tasty, and the entertainment delightful. I was pleased to suspend my disbelief for several hours well dressed and in good company. I'm very grateful for the vegan menu items.

Such a neat experience. Love that it’s pretty exclusive, but surprisingly so many people have been there, went for the brunch. The buffet was small, some food was cold, others such as prime rib, and ahi poke were amazing. The best jumbo shrimp, and endless mimosas. The kids didn’t care for it too much, it was dark and whimsical so they were a little scared but the magic shows were great and had us laughing the whole time. Would recommend but expect to pay well over $100 per person

If you have the chance (and cash) to go, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? This is the modern day / metropolitan Hogwarts. We had a chance to visit during the holiday season and they did NOT disappoint. Valet is around $13 and the food cost for two is probably around $200 (we each had a glass of wine , steak , lamb and Brussel sprouts). The shows are phenomenal, unexpected and truly got you thinking how they can come up with this. The performers have charisma and are very engaging. All the rooms in the castle have smaller shows for smaller audiences that are way more fun personable and interactive so don’t miss out ! Their drinks are fun, the smoke and mirrors is spicy if you like a kick! Don’t pass out on this chance. One of the most unique experiences in Los Angeles for me. Obviously - No photography inside

Had an absolutely fantastic time! This was my first time there. I had dinner there and chose the salmon, which was salmon, asparagus and mashed potatoes. I had the Caesar salad for my starter, and the cheesecake for dessert. The food was delicious. I was also able to enjoy 4 magic shows. The place is a lot of fun and laughs! Sorry, can't share any pics because pics are not allowed inside.

We had an absolute blast at the Magic Castle. A great variety of Magic Shows and the restaurant itself is worth a visit. The atmosphere was incredible, giving you a feeling of being thrown back in time. For me one of the top destinations in Los Angeles!

Every bit of our magical evening was amazing. Dinner was perfect. The Magicians were outstanding and the staff were wonderful. We laughed so much and closed the place and did it again the first time this year
