Jackalope Lakeside

Food was good, nice location on the lake, and a little on the pricey end. Our waiter was very nice and informative. A lot of parking space. Only negative thing possibly was that it definitely needs some updates inside and outside; like a modern nautical look or like a Margaritaville vibe and I bet they'd get more customers. The decor looks like it's been there a since they opened. The sangrias were great!

I’ve traveled all over the world- third world countries included. I’m rarely displeased with restaurants and food that I’m served- easily satisfied. I recently visited family in Lorain and they suggested eating at Jackalope - a place they’ve had positive experiences in the past. We went and I can’t express enough my disgust in the food that was served to us. Not only did our party of 6 wait an hour and a half- when we received our food finally .....the fish had to be sent back because of the potent odor - as well as the shrimp cocktail. Long story short , even though we paid close to $100 none of the food we were served was edible. We threw it all away. I attempted to contact Management the next day to inform them of the issues - couldn’t get through. Left 3 messages for the owner/ Manager and he never called back. If you eat there..you risk being severed garbage and getting sick. Beware!

This is a 5 star for me. After biking all day from Elyria to Vermillion and back, then refreshing, I headed out to Jackalope's restaurant. First, the elevator to the restaurant was yes, unique and classy which set a wonderful tone to my dining experience. I dined outside along side the water, boats and walkway. The food was excellent, service great and I brought home pictures of great memories and a wonderful evening dining port side.

Food: 2/5 Service: -2/5 Atmosphere: 4/5 (by the lake and nice [note: deceptive] theme) It took about an hour and a half from ordering to get our food. The manager never came out and apologized. The food was disappointing (see pic). I usually look on the positive side of things, but it is difficult after having such a bad experience. I felt embarrassed bringing my potential in-laws to this restaurant for lunch. I am not embellishing this story. They should have just told us to go somewhere else if their kitchen was that slow at making FRIED FISH (3 min), chicken tacos (7 min), and a salad (7 min).

This place has potential due to the location and view. They just need someone that can cook food with flavor, the sweet corn risotto was like wallpaper paste with a can of corn thrown in, the mussels someone at my table ordered smelled so awful I could barely eat my shrimp. They also need someone that can mix drinks. We waited FOREVER for them and they were a disappointment. The service was so slow we considered dining and dashing because we were clearly done and waited and waited for our check while NOBODY seemed to notice. I even told that to the waitress. LOL They also need a better cleaning crew. The windows between the restaurant and the patio were FILTHY. We drove to be able to watch the sunset because we hadn’t seen it in so long. We wanted to sit on the patio, but were told it would be over an hour wait so we sat inside at a table with a view. BUT the wait for outside was nowhere near an hour and we couldn’t see out the windows. And then someone pulled the shades and completely ruined the experience. The restaurant manager here should pay attention to details. It could be a great place.

NOT GOOD, NOT GOOD AT ALL! Thought we were going to a fresh food seafood restaurant, knowing it was nothing fancy, especially once we walked up to the place but expected much better food. I've had better from Gordons Fisherman's out of the box. Only thing that was good were the Hungarian Peppers from the appetizer menu. Definitely should have read the reviews on this one. Only seen the photos posted online that show a nice view. Even that was disappointing. Might be OK for a brew and quick sandwich but definitely not dinner. Oh, the service is ridiculous. Sat at the table with no waitress for the longest time. Don't bother!
