First off, the food here is not amazing, the service is not brilliant nor is there anything particularly standout about it. What it offers however, is the opportunity to eat your heart out at an affordable price of $16.95 per person for dinner, or a $9.95 per person for lunch. This all AYCE buffet located conveniently in Sunnyside, Queens is one of very few available in the neighborhood, and is perhaps the best bang for your buck.
Food: 3.5/5- As a chinese buffet, they serve all your standard fried items and Chinese "specialties". There's a decent selection of seafood including King Crab legs, salmon, teriyaki fish, and various shrimps and crabs in different dishes. There's also a good selection of meats ranging from thin sliced chicken to steak. The salad bar is your standard salad bar with various greens, deviled eggs, a selection of cheese and fruits as well as a wide range of sauces. My favorite part of this place is the Sushi Bar, where there's a decent selection of freshly made sushi. All the food had good flavors, albeit not fantastic.
Service: 4/5 The service here is not standout, but is much better than many other Chinese buffets. The waiters and waitresses come around fairly often to refill water, and generally are more attentive. You do serve yourself, so a lot of the work doesn't belong to them, but for what they do do, is done to an acceptable standard. They also have a birthday special where they sing you a song and give a free cupcake if you have proof that one of your members is having a birthday.
Atmosphere: 4/5 The place is fairly large, and has a ton of seating. The lighting is a bit dim but this actually adds to the atmosphere. It has an almost romantic feel, which is strange for an AYCE buffet. The utensils are presented nicely, the seating is cozy, and there's ample room to walk.
Overall: 4/5 I'd actually give this a 3.5/5, but I'll bump it to 4 since the price is so nice for the amount of food you're eating. Once again, this place does not blow my mind, but it is consistently a good meal. I would not go here more than once every few months, but if I were hungry, and only had less than 20 bucks while still wanting to dine out, this would be a solid choice.
An Economically Pleasant Buffet Restaurant. While New Grand Buffet will not fulfill a gourmand's dream, it does have some tasty fare. They do tend to overcook such things as snow crab legs and shellfish in general. The salt and pepper frog's legs, spicy baby octopus (the entire miniature cephalopod), hot and sour soup and most desserts are consistently reliable choices in my experience. The Chinese dishes are often acceptable, if not the best versions that you may have encountered while dining. The price is right.
Buffet become more fresh now!. I went another day, the food looks different, looks they did some things new, it look more fresh and delicious, I'm glad the price is the same~~
It's been a while. I have long time didn't went to new grand buffet, I bring my best friend to go another day because of her birthday, and of course I got her free birthday gift as good lunch! and she is happy! how can I say~~ best price for all you can eat~~
I would say that the buffet is definitely worth the price . At around 14 $ for lunch and around 20 $ for dinner the prices are right. There is quite a few selection of foods , mostly seafood which I like but they also have 2 3 chicken and 2 3 other meats. They have a good salad section, fruit section and pastries including ice cream. Would recommend.
I recently visited the Chinese buffet, and it was a mixed experience. The selection of foods that were really good made the visit worthwhile, especially the delightful dessert section. Considering the price, it's a decent deal. However, I have to admit, some of the seafood offerings, particularly the sushi, fell short of expectations and didn't justify the cost. If you're looking for variety and don't mind a few misses, it's worth checking out.
Well, food is cheap but good though . They got so many varieties including seafood. On top of that you are only paying about 10.99 to 18 depends on time and day. And getting so many food. You know what I mean if you are food lover.
*Wonderful Dine in @ mighty carb*
We were here last night for the 1st time since the lock down !
Folks ..it TASTE EVEN BETTER on the spot than the take out coz it’s all fresh off the cooking !
Excellent Food & Services !
Amazing Taste ! Loving it !!!
Really good seafood place! I'm from Louisiana, so I'm always a little nervous about trying Southern-style seafood up north, but this is definitely a place I'll visit again! The crawfish were big and spicy, and the fried shrimp were particularly excellent! The only thing I wouldn't get again are the "hushpuppies" (pictured below) - they were very clearly corn nuggets (GOOD corn nuggets, but definitely not hushpuppies).
For 20$, the options are great. Delicious food, perfectly cooked. Nice waiters, free drink refills. Definitely would come back ❤️
Service was amazing same for the food and also atmosphere but there are two things I didn't like.
One was the plates were very grease and the cups for the ice cream as like they haven't been clean in a long time.
Another one was the tables were super dirty same for the chair's but overall was an amazing experience.
Great value! For 12$ (without tax - note: we went there on a Monday 2pm), lunch buffet had lots of tasty varieties even including freshly cooked shrimp, pizza, lots of different chicken, pork and beef dishes, ice cream, sushi (although we did not eat that). Definitely recommend.
Maybe one of the few all you can eat places I’ve been to here in nyc and I nowadays get their too good to go dinner boxes for $5. It does not disappoint!
The food was really amazing and our server was really polite and took really good care of us.
