About 39 miles NW of Fort Collins,Colorado, is a locally owned restaurant by the unassuming and endearing name of Orvilles. Greeting you at the counter will be Darcy: part owner as well as the bartender and hostess. My wife and I have eaten there a variety of times, but lately we keep coming back for the amazing Philly Steak Sandwich with the scrumptious side salad. To be fair, I have limited experience in dining on Philly Steak Sandwiches, but I cannot believe that a finer Philly Steak Sandwich could exist west of Philadelphia. The meat is tender, combined with its special sauce and lovingly placed between halves of buns that are not overwhelming. Stu (cook and also part owner) has done a masterful job in creating his version of this delectable dish. He is generous with the meat in the sandwich. The side salad could not be fresher and more diverse with its ingredients. Visit the place! They're open Fridays to Sundays from noon onward. Guy Fieri, visit them and include them in your next Diners edition.
The Colorado Gambler 500 was held on their grounds. With so many people it was impressive that they fed all of us great food, and yummy drinks all with great sevice!
When I lived up the road from this place (about a mile) I would visit multiple times weekly. The food was always great and fresh, the drinks were always plentiful and the staff were the best part. Stu and Darcy made me feel at home and always welcome. Going to Orville's is the thing I miss the most about living in Livermore.
