So I grew up in this neighborhood and spent many days eating here. Burt was always behind the counter and now his son is running the place. The hot pastrami on rye is one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. To this day it is still better than any other. I moved away from the area in 1991 and this was my first time back. If you're ever in this area this is the place to have lunch. Small neighborhood deli that is so authentic and great service.
No Pic because I ate it all. This was a delicious lox and bagel (toasted with chive cream cheese, sliced red onions). The service was wonderful. There was a hearty portion of salmon on this perfect sandwich. OhMyGoodmess!!! I've been here for years and I can't believe I waited so long to give it a try. Next time I get this sandwich I'll take a picture and post it.
I will come back and try Ralph's Yumi sandwich.
They are friendly and I'd say my new favorite spot.
Ohhh I almost forgot - PICKLES. They are flavorful and per the pound. I purchased one for my child. Next time I'll just purchase more. 😉
You're not gonna get thinner cut deli meats than they do here! Everything is made with love. Ralph's special sandwich is the best thing I've eaten in Libertyville ever.

Put this neighborhood gem on your MUST TRY or rediscover list right NOW. Burt's Deli we're so glad we found you! You can shop there for all your deli meats and cheeses. Have them make you a sandwich to-go or to eat there. The Reuben sandwich is our favorite, made with a soft swiss cheese and it is amazing. We also really like the potato salad and surprisingly the vinegar slaw, the regular slaw is delicious too. We can't wait to try everything on the menu. Burt's Deli is tucked away on the side of the Green Tree Plaza. Some of the shops in this plaza have closed but Burt's is still in business and going strong for 30+ years. It is located in the side of the plaza not facing Milwaukee Ave, behind the now closed Baker's Square restaurant, facing the side street Greentree Pkwy. I'm so happy to see that Burt's stayed open while so many other small businesses have had to close. Thank you Mark from Duxler Motors, for telling me about Burt's Deli as we drove back to Duxler's. I love seeing area businesses promoting each other. Please support local businesses like Burt's Deli and Duxler Motors! Thanks guys. We will see you next weekend! Not you Mark from Duxler. we were in the Libertyville area looking for a deli and came across a Bursts deli. We were so impressed. We will drive back from Algonquin all the way there just for the sandwiches. The owner was amazing. The atmosphere was outstanding and the food was absolutely delicious.

Absolutely delicious pastrami! I made a recipe with it recently that was so good, I won't be buying pastrami from any other location again. Best Reuben sandwich this side of the Mississippi!! Also, Ralph's jokes are hilarious and he adds so much to the overall experience. Cannot wait to go back and try the "Yummy" sandwich he invented!
This place has the best corn beef and pastrami sandwich. I eat here more times than I should and I eat 2 sandwiches when I should be eating one. You gotta try "The Yummy". Hot Corn beef, pastrami, cheese, horseradish, mustard, on rye.
Note - prices are rather high (expect $20 for a sandwich and drink)
With that said, food is EXCELLENT with generous portions (and lots of pickles). Burt is friendly, fun, and efficient - you won't find better service. Place is small (5-6 small tables inside), but turns-over pretty quick.
The location is "around the corner" in this larger strip mall, but plenty of parking
