My wife and I use this restaurant mainly for takeout orders. There is a website that we can order online with. The food is excellent there's always plenty of rice (also delicious), and the service is great. We have also eaten inside the restaurant many times by ourselves and invited friends. You will enjoy this restaurant, we live nearby and it's more convenient to simply order takeout. Decent Bar with Draft Beer plus Spirits. Vegetarian menu available. (Dennis & Cindy)
First day in Lexington, and I wanted to have something Indian. Walking around I found this restaurant very close to my place. The restaurant is a nice mix of Indian and American. The food was truly Indian, with the right amount of spices and the classic Indian taste.
With every visit to this restaurant, I experienced great food and genuine customer service. I absolutely love their lamb Saag and Rogan Josh. I, personally, haven't seen the unsanitary conditions others mentioned in their reviews; however, as far as decor and appearance, the place seems fine.
Food is good, not a lot of variety in the buffet but they have the key stuff. Wait staff was professional and friendly, not like what's described from earlier posts. I would def go back again.
My husband had the lamb rogan josh and I the lamb korma- both were excellent. The onion and paneer naan was great as well. The raita was one of the best I've ever had. Great service. Overall great meal.
Super good! Lots to choose from, very clean, and a great staff to boot! I'll definitely be coming back again and again.
First off, I have been coming to Tandoor since 2011. It has gone many different owners, but the food quality has always been AWESOME! The most recent owners really have fixed up the place, like extremely nice. The restaurant is open and has kept me coming back. I have read some bad reviews and pictures but those reviews do not reflect the quality of food or service that I receive every time I go. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who loves Indian food like I do, because Tandoor is the best Indian food in and around Lexington!
First off,they are not closed!!
Secondly, this restaurant is top notch when it comes to Indian restaurants. My wife and I love ethnic food but she had never tried Indian food. She is now hooked!! ChIcken Tikka Masala, Lamb Biryani, Vegetable Pakora.... All fantastic!! We will be regulars, for sure!!
Perfectly Good Indian in Lexington!. I've lived in town for over a year, but had not tried Tandoor due to its online ratings. I'm glad we decided to try tonight, and we'll definitely be back. The atmosphere is much better than I expected from the strip mall location (nice lighting, table linen, etc.). They have a sports-bar amount of televisions, which were not too distracting for us. They appeared relatively slow at ~6:30 on a Saturday, but that said the service was fine, if a bit hands off (which I prefer).
Standard Indian beer selection (Kingfisher and that other one) as well as a few western import options and the standard domestics. There was a free appetizer of crispy bread (sorry I don't know the the name - not naan, but like tortilla) along with 3 dipping sauces. We ordered potato samosas for an appetizer, and they were great. Rich flaky crust and moist seasoned potato. My girlfriend is super-sensitive to spice, and these were a touch too spicy for her.
She had Saag Paneer, which was satisfying for her (I think mainly because the 'mild' spice request was truly unspiced). I had a new dish: Mango chicken. That was more Indo-chinese, and was really just well-cooked white chicken meat in a mango sauce. I requested medium spice, and I think it was a good compliment to the sweet sauce. That particular dish was honestly more like high-end Chinese take-out. It was good, but now I reget not trying a curry. As a side we had saag and garlic naan, and it was very good.
We didn't get a chance to try desert, and I still want to try both a curry and tandoori dish to really judge the depth of the menu, but based on this meal I'm happy to know I have a place in town for some satisfying Indian cuisine.
Yum!. This is the best Indian restaurant in Lexington! The food is amazing and the prices are definitely lower than other places. The only thing they are lacking in is service. Servers are awkward and take forever to get things for you. But still, the food more than makes up for it! Everything on the menu is so gosh darn good!
