Very good food and great prices. Huge sandwich, you could consider splitting it with someone else. For $8.75, you get a sandwich, small side, cookie, and drink. Can't be beat and the quality is good. Eat here for sure if you're looking for a deli lunch.
One of the best sandwiches of my life. Excellent variety of cheeses, meats, veggies, and breads...but the pretzel bread is definitely the way to go. FYI it's cash only!

Hands down best sandwich I’ve ever had! They make the bread fresh each day and the ingredients are fresh and so tasty! Def make sure you stop here! The pretzel bread is delish!! It’s located near the water, so relaxing to sit and eat and then check out the other unique shanties!
Best sandwich I’ve ever had. Crave them all year round and since I’ve moved from Michigan. When I ever come back and go Up North I literally make sure I stop for one at least once. Every ingredient us just quality and so good. Lines are long (call ahead) and they run out of pretzel bread (tragedy but again, call ahead). Can’t recommend this place enough and it’s just such a cute little shack that hasn’t changed since I was a little girl coming. Love Cheese Shanty.
After moving to Colorado, I have dreamed about going back to the Cheese Shanty. After four years, I finally made it back this season and it was better than ever! The pretzel bread was exactly as I remembered. The Lake Street is my go too for the pretzel bread and herb mayo.
Wow, those sandwiches were incredible. I could not have dreamt of a more satisfying lunch.

The Cheese Shanty was high on my list of places I wanted to go for our weekend in Leelanau and it DID. NOT. DISAPPOINT!
We got there early in the day, received friendly and quick service and the best baguette.
We will definitely be returning in the morning to grab some cheese to go.
💯worth the stop for a quick lunch and walk around the area and other shops. A few minutes after we ordered the line filled up and only got fuller as we left. Don’t miss it!

Stopped by the Village Cheese Shanty for a sandwich as recommended by Falling Waters Lodge keep and online reviews. As you can see in the pictures it's a nice little shack (shanty) where you place your order and pick up at a window. Great thing about that is IT'S PET FRIENDLY!
The portion is decent size for the price, enough for two meals or shareable. The food was good, it's deli meat served from a shanty.. that's good enough for me. The place is cash or check only, fortunately we had our checks in the car.
You might want to think about taking your order elsewhere to eat as the area was rampant with mosquitos when we were there, we ate in our car.
The staff are EXTREMELY friendly, and even gave bacon to our dog. :)

Way came and got the North shore sandwich, it was rated best sandwich in Michigan. It was good but far from the best. The bread is not a traditional pretzel bun as it states it is. It is just salted bread 🤷. The rest was very good. I may have just got a bad bun.... But if the bread was in point it would be a great sandwich 🥹.
This is a must visit if you are in the area. The North Shore (the pretzel bun is unique and incredible) and the Log Jam are our favorite. The place is cash-only so be sure you have some ready when you arrive.
You also have to pay for parking and cell service can be spotty so prepare for that potential complication.
Quite possibly the best sandwich I’ve ever enjoyed the blessing of. Don’t hesitate to get the pretzel baguette.
