Meriwether's

Meriwether’s is a cute little coffee shop in downtown Leavenworth. They have huge donuts that are tasty and they serve lunch items too. I love the chicken salad sandwich and I’ll often order it for pick up and take it to the office when I don’t have time to eat inside. Great place to meet for conversation and for small groups. We hope our reviews and photos are helpful for giving insight into shopping, eating and playing in the area we live in.

Meriwether's has some of the best donuts in the area. They are big, tasty and have substance to them. I am a plain glazed donut kind of fella and I like the flavor of the dough. I've never had anything else from here except for the donuts. They do have a small store in the front with artisan items. Lots of humorous stuff and clothing. GREAT DONUTS!! UPDATE: 3/15/22 At the urging of "The Mountain" I stopped in to try the breakfast burrito. I had the carnitas burrito and it is everything and more that it was pronounced to be. Great combo of ingredients and it wasn't a soggy mess that is too common with other burritos I've had elsewhere. The salsa verde served with gave it the perfect tang. This has been added to my must haves when in the area.

The coffee is good, I used to rave about the donuts. They have been great until the one that came with a hair cooked in. And no one replied to my email. (Update: I eventually got a reply stating “we make a lot and it’s never happened before”) The kitchen and takeout system is bad. Something out of the kitchen will make you wait longer than 15min, and they don’t coordinate with drinks. Order hot drinks and hot food to go and your drinks will be ready immediately and the food will be out 35 minutes later. After you politely wait and then on asking about status after 20 minutes you find they’ve forgotten to make your order. Then you have cold old drinks and hot food to bring home to your waiting people. So the hot burrito and cold coffee and two donuts finally gets home, and one donut has a hair sticking out of the dough. I emailed Meriwethers before posting this review but hearing nothing from them, like concern for kitchen cleanliness, or a shared horror this happened, I’m updating my review. When I tore open the donut, about 6” of hair was cooked into it. Thankfully an inch was sticking out to warn me.

Excellent sense of balance with their food presentations today and the Muddy River that they made was excellent. The vibe of the whole place is earthy and welcoming with a selection of curiosities and local art all available for purchase to the discerning customer. The staff were extremely kind and efficient at the counter even though this morning was fairly busy and both my and my child's drinks were provided quickly without any sacrifice of quality. I cannot recommend this place enough for needs ranging from coffee and donuts all the way to carefully curated charcuterie.

Support local and go to Meriwether's! It's such a unique and resourceful place. There is something for everyone here. The donuts are ridiculously yummy. The staff is so kind and helpful. And they have such a wide range of goodies! From clothes and accessories to locally farmed jam and poured candles I was extremely impressed. I will definitely be back to dine in and try delicious and original eats. 🤩

This was our first time here. It’s located in a beautiful building with fun, eclectic decor, but seemed to lack the traditional coffeehouse ambiance. Our doughnuts and breakfast sandwich were delicious. Our daughter raved over the chocolate glazed doughnut. The only thing that could keep us from returning was the cold shoulder we received from the employee taking our order. It somewhat seemed like we were putting her out by placing an order. On the other hand, the gentleman that brought our food to our table was very polite and friendly.
