Smokey Mo's Bbq

We have eaten here twice recently and both times were very happy with our food. We placed our orders online and pickup smoothly. The food has always been great. I have eaten at Smokey Mo’s for almost 20 years at various locations, including this one, and my only complaint is that the fried okra is missing from the menu. Other than that, the meat has been great and good portions. Overall we like this bbq and this location.

I ordered catering takeout for a work event. Could not be happier! Crystal was the manager and was simply the best! I ordered 6 lbs of meat for 10 people (went with 3 lbs of sliced brisket and 1.5 of turkey and chopped brisket each) potato salad, beans, and green beans, with a side of Mac n cheese. I was surprised and delighted that it came with a full bottle of Smokey Mo’s BBQ sauce, 2 gallons of iced tea (they downed the sweet tea), she added ice, a loaf of bread. Then there were condiments (onions, pickles, lemons for the tea, and jalapeños). It was more than expected and all of it was so good. Great experience! Thank you, Crystal.

I am in awe at how you could ruin a brisket. OVERLY dry. No flavor. And didn’t taste fresh. You also get very little for the cost of a 2 meat plate. The sides are sub par and bland as well. I heard good things about Moes but unfortunately I won’t be returning. I’m sure there may be better and fresher BBQ than this. ☹️

Normally I don't write a review, I feel people exaggerate to favor themselves, however this time I thought I should say something because this is the third poor experience I've had at this location, so I ordered the two meat plate with jalapeno sausage and moist brisket heavy on the bark! For those who know the bark has all the flavor, anyway I received my food Togo, when I got home, I got regular sausage:/ then my brisket was dry and had no bark, the cutter just seemed to be in his own world and didn't seem to cut the quality that I expected and paid full price for, I just didn't understand why it was all wrong, I was the only guest in line, as you can probably tell I'm very disappointed yet again and will not be returning to any of the smokey mo's locations again, maybe if they can get back to the quality and experience they use to give I'll give it another chance, I wonder how long that will take.

No stars given. Had to give 1 star to write review. Absolutely the worst service and bbq store in Leander. Every time I order from Smokey Mo’s in Leander, something is wrong, they are out of what I ordered, etc. Spend the extra $$ and go to Stile’s, they seem to be pretty consistent. I try Smokey Mo’s at least every month or so because they are convenient or we are desperate. Without fail, always always disappointed. Today, was the last time. Won’t go back there if they are the last place left in Leander. Nope. Never agin. Done.
