Basil Leaf Cafe

What a fantastic experience. I'm not sure what made it feel some comfy, the cheerful staff the open kitchen or the delightful aromas that danced in the air, but it has a wonderful vibe the second you cross the threshold. I usually don't rave about the small things, but when someplace does something so exceptional I feel obligated to brag on them. I ordered a simple Caesar salad and what came out had me questioning if I had ever really experienced a Caesar salad before. I can't recommend this place more.

We got take out from the Basil Leaf Cafe last night. It was hot and delicious. I got the chicken tenders and they were cooked really well. My husband got the tortellini and that was good, too. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is because the risotto could have been a bit better, however maybe that was due to it being take out. We will definitely be dining in soon, so I may need to update my review.

Made a reservation over a week ago!! My parents anniversary dinner. Called to check and make sure and they have no record of reservation. It’s Valentine’s Day so I understand making a reservation. That’s why I did it so early. The man I spoke to didn’t seem to care and only told me to call IF someone should not show up!!! I will never even try this restaurant! Definitely won’t put my parents through trying this restaurant! We all live in Lawrence. I will make sure to tell everyone I know to not even try! I read the yelp reviews… most were good but the ones that were awful were actually pretty recent! Should have known better!!!

I picked this place for my birthday dinner this year and was really excited to splurge on a nice ($$) dinner. Despite being from Lawrence, I’d never tried Basil Leaf. The food was incredibly salty, to the point that it was nearly inedible. I didn’t even want my leftovers, which I had a lot of because the food was incredibly dense and filling.

We went here the other night for dinner and it was a great experience! Our waitress was so good with our kids! When my eldest told her that she loved doing the mazes on the kids menu, she went our of her way to print her up 3 more mazes to do! She can also be kind of picky like many toddlers are, but everything on the kids menu was something she'd enjoy! All the portions were generous sizes and everything was delicious. The staff was all friendly and the food didn't take long to come out. We will definitely be back the next time we're in town!
