Racer's Tavern

My wife and I have been to racers several times and were always happy with the food and the atmosphere. The staff has always been great even when they were under staffed and over worked. but the stuffed chicken breast we had last night was so over the top salty. Tasted like the cook used a hand full instead of a pinch of salt. Need to back off the salt. We will be back.

I don’t have a lot of bad things to say about this restaurant, but they lost our credit card and did nothing about it. I understand accidents happen but they offered us no compensation. I couldn’t believe we were told sorry we lost your card and that was it! We even called the next day to see if they found it before we had to cancel our card and asked if they could give us some compensation and they said no. So if you go here be carful. UPDATE: THE RESTAURANT CALLED AND DID OFFER A GIFT CARD FOR OUR TROUBLE. THANK YOU!

The last time I was here was for a fund raising function 2 yrs ago and I remembered thinking " I'd like to sample more of their wares". I found myself in town again with my son the other day to handle some business nearby and remembered that this little gem was right down the street. I took my son for lunch and was overly pleased to find that the covid fearing freaks have not ruined everything here too. We were able to sit quietly at the bar (which was all but empty for you covid nazis out there) and enjoy adult beverages and sandwiches just like we did in old America. It was absolutely wonderful! (Yea yea yea, we wore our masks in and out to be polite and not get anyone in trouble). The white chicken cheese chili was rib- stickingly delicious and my steak sandwich was awesome. The long island iced teas were made right and I had more than one. I was able to play my lottery numbers right there at the bar without having to make an extra trip anywhere and I couldn't have been more satisfied. I highly recommend this venue to anyone passing through or as a destination point. Hey, set up a fund raiser or a 'poker ride' and put Racers on the stop list. Whatever the reason, you won't be disappointed.

I have eaten breakfast twice at Racers in the last month. The food has been great at a good price. I have had the breakfast bowl with eggs, sausage and potatoes. The location is convenient because it is close to downtown Latrobe. I will come back to try some of the other menu items that I have not tried yet.

Today on Fathers Day my husband wanted some wings. Although it took me 3 times dialing for someone to answer, I placed my order for pick-up. I placed 2 orders of their 10 bone-in wings Naked, Hot and SUPER sloppy. I told the woman on the phone that I wanted them so sloppy that the sauce was going to drip off the corners of my husband's mouth! It took 25 minutes and I arrived at the bar to pick-up my order. I can understand why they might not have heard my first two phone calls because the music was sooo loud by the register that I could barley hear the woman talk to me. I was in and out and was excite to give my hubby his dinner. Boy oh boy did they deliever tonight!! The wings were beautiful in size (about 4 inches long in size) and were EXACTLY the way he wanted them, dripping (proof in the picture! Lol!). They were PERFECT! Thank you!!
