Roberto's Taco Shop

I stopped by Roberto's on a Saturday while visiting Vegas for this year's NBA Summer League games. I went in just planning to get some tacos for lunch to hold me over until dinner at a casino restaurant. Spoiler Alert: I never made it to dinner.... and I was not mad at all! In full transparency, I should have asked how BIG the tacos were before I ordered. I saw the prices and (being from California) expected to get ripped off, so I asked the wrong question: How many tacos come in an order? The nice woman at the register told me: "Just one," and (being too ambitious) I ordered three: 2 adobada tacos and one carnitas with everything, which included a slathering of guacamole and pico de gallo with onions and cilantro. I knew I had gotten in too deep when she handed me my order with a FORK and I felt the weight of the container. Then I opened it, saw how big the tacos were, and started to question myself. Can I handle that much delicious grilled meat in one sitting? Could I finish them all? Should I even try? Then the taco gods whispered to me: "Tu eres el chingón" and I dug in... I had to try both salsas (red & green) from the salsa bar (the only thing missing was radish) and added a jalapeño to honor the taco gods. The adobada was good, but the carnitas made me wish I had ordered 2 of those instead. This wasn't the shredded carnitas some places sell--these were chunks of juicy pork perfectly crisped on the grill overflowing from the tortilla. In fact, the tortilla couldn't even handle the load because it ripped a little when I picked up the carnitas taco to bite it. Not ripped like "fell apart", but ripped in the right places like fashionable jeans, and made the whole fork thing make sense. There was so much meat perfectly balanced with the flavor of the guacamole and Pico that I actually shook my head in satisfied disbelief. The adobada didn't have the marinated flavor and hint of pineapple that I expected, but it was still delicious, and the red salsa complimented it well. The green salsa and jalapeño were like back up singers to the carnitas--nice accompaniments, but just there to make the star look better. The staff was friendly, the place was clean, the food was great, AND they're open 24 hours! A lot of crimes happen every day in Vegas, but the biggest crime of all has to be that there aren't more hours in the day to enjoy Roberto's tacos. Definitely coming back here next time I'm in Vegas...

Place was pretty empty but it was clean!! The food was delicious and the staff was friendly. They have a salsa bar which is super convenient. Carne Asada tacos were big and full of meat. Rice was fluffy and soft. It was pricey but I understand this is Las Vegas so that's something to just expect. Definitely would recommend!
