Irie Bar & Grille

I enjoyed a really WONDERFUL dinner!!!! I swore shrimp and grits DID NOT go together......but soooooo happy I tried it. It was an amazing beautiful delicious dish!! Our waitress was PHENOMENAL!! I wish, I remembered her name so I could shout her out! She was so pleasant, well-mannered, extremely attentive and allowed me to sample a lamb dish that my dinner mate ended up ordering. She was an absolute jewel!! Loved the decor and music. If you live in the area make it a POINT to dine there, you won't be disappointed!!

1st time experience and dining at the bar. Curry goat was great. Bartender/server was cool and helpful. Everything was all good right up until the time I ordered dessert - rum cake with ice cream. The ice cream scoop was small as a melon ball so I asked for another scoop. Server went to inquire about it but was told by owner/manager that I would have to pay $5 for an extra scoop. Then the owner had the audacity to retort that the cake was made with premium rum, so that justified the miniscule scoop of ice cream. FYI: I am a rum cake aficionado, and this cake did not rate 5 stars. What made it so bad is that the manager/owner put the burden on her server to pass these messages back and forth. So, not only was management not savvy enough to give the customer the extra pickle, she also put the server in an uncomfortable position, which definitely was a bad move in my eyes. I am not likely to return.

The food was spectacular. The coco bread is so yummy i almost bite my fingers. It soft, with a soft flavor, amazing texture to taste ( cotton candy without sugar, if you know I mean). The plate was enough to fill you up, however if you are accustomed to eating large portions you might be a little bit dissatisfied. The rice was yummy complimenting the curry taste. The texture of the rice was great not soft to smudge, not hard to crack, just al dente. They are a little short in staff so the wait can take up to 10 minutes to order. Recommendations: Water should be serve first , right after being sitting. Water should be filled up every 10 or 18 minutes. Sitting should not take longer than 2 minutes when the place is empty.

I came to Irie grill because there oxtails r usually good...tonight the oxtails taste different. They usually have the big ones but tonight they had I big one and the rest of them were small...I come here all the time for happy our or just to get something to eat....Well today they have lost me as a customer and I will make sure that I tell my friends how the service was bad the manager came to me and said since some of the food was eaten she was going to charge me have price for oxtails and full price for the grill salmon which I wanted to change my dish for... what a waste of my time. I COULD HAVE WENT ANYWHERE TO HAVE DINNER BUT I CHOSE IRIE never again just lost me as a customer.... because of the service... Tip for the manager customer satisfaction goes a long way.

DO NOT PATRONIZE THIS PLACE! I went to the Lanham location last night (8/22) with a friend. THE SERVICE SUCKS! After taking our order, the waiter did not check on us at all. I had to get the hostess attention just to get silverware that should have been placed at our table when we were seated. On top of the bad service I was charged a 18% gratuity for a party of two. The manager informed me they charge a 18% gratuity after 9pm and the sign is posted. Needless to say when I left, I checked the hostess area and the two front doors. NO SIGN!

Currently sitting at Irie Cafe having good conversation with friends and all of a sudden the lights come on and they decide to close! It is Saturday night 10pm!! There are people at the bar having a good time as well. This is "Tacky" to just close and people are coming in still. The menu may have changed but, the mismanagement still exists, service is still poor but, the food is the only saving grace. Copper Canyon here we come!
