I wanted an authentic place with low sodium that reminded me of the real food in Austria and Germany. I loved every last bite. I wish there was slightly less butter in some of it, but every bit was delightful! I couldn't get enough of the potato salad with the schnitzel. My daughters had the knurdle and goulash. My mom loved her stroganoff. Goulash did have a little kick but the potatoes should help tone it down. It helps to know what you what you want and be decisive when ordering or placing the reservation. The inside was very warm and small but enjoyable. We'll definitely be back in the future.
Everything was absolutely incredible! A serious hidden gem of Denver. You teleport to another era and time slows when you walk in. The food it’s truly incredible only downside is you will likely have to take the dessert to go after your feast because you will be so full!
Seems family owned, excellent service, really flavorful food, and clean everywhere.
The lady working there does speak German. The menu is plentyful. If you have some German food in mind, the server will make sure it's cooked to your liking and check back to check on you. They're really sweet.
Highly recommend this location. Call ahead to make an appointment.
I ate here with my parents on 9/9/2023 and it was a very pleasant surprise. The food was amazing. It's rare to find authentic German and Austrian cuisine, and as I was lucky enough to live in Germany for 13 years, I've got a pretty good idea of hearty, quality food from those countries.
The Schnitzel was divine, but even better, the mushroom sauce and potato salad that came with it were almost exactly the same recipes I used when I worked at a few restaurants over there.
I couldn't stop from smiling with every bite I took!
Please be aware, Gaby's is reservation only. There is very limited table space - that being said, it provides a MUCH quieter and ambient space for dining - a very lovely experience, for myself and my parents.
Absolutely delicious. We are there for a second time yesterday and the food was as amazing as it was last winter when we came by for the first time. Everything is flavorful and tastes fresh, and nothing is laden down with sugar (including the lemonade and desserts). You can tell that the food is made from scratch. It’s just that good.
Make sure you have a reservation, as they are much preferred over walk-in.
Best restaurant in Lakewood?
Fantastic dinner at Gaby’s! This is *the spot* for German food. Home cooking at its finest. Everything we got was great, the schnitzel and stroganoff with pierogis were both so good. I could eat that potato salad by the tub.
Can’t wait to return and try the pork hock that you have to call in 3 days in advance!
Be sure to make a reservation before you go!
Can’t believe there is such a delicious restaurant in Lakewood! I grew up eating German food so the flavor reminded me of home. Apart from the Pierogi, the food is freshly made to order. The Schnitzel was delicious and you have to pair it with the Dill cucumber salad. They also have a good selection of beers. The place is tiny so make sure to make a resi! What a hidden gem!!
The food here is phenomenal! You can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I can tell they only use real, fresh ingredients. I’ve been to Germany and had schnitzel there, and Gabys is better.
Great mimosas, and cake too.
I lived in Europe for 5 years and have had loads of trips to Germany, this is hands down the most authentic German cuisine in Denver! Not only is it authentic but it’s delicious as well! I tried to order just about the whole menu and every dish was so good. The atmosphere and staff are friendly and welcoming. This is truly a hidden gem. You have to check it out.
1st time here, I'm from Berlin, food, beer and service were great, don't mistake Gaby's bluntness for being rude, she just keeps it real, it's a German thing. The Schnitzel and sides, as well as the currywurst were great! Reservation recommended!
