Polar Bakery

Very sad that EVERYTHING about this bakery has changed. The baking staff Obviously is different because of the quality and lack of taste of products. Specifically my two favorite items, the Princess cake & chocolate peanut butter fudge brownies are Horrible & Completely different recipes. If you never tasted those before from Polar you don't know what your missing. As for me, sadly today was my last visit to Polar Bakery😥

I've been in here several times and yeah the staff are not very nice here. I was in here this morning at opening time(8 am). Because I always missed the almond croissants and was told by the staff come early if you want to get any. I got there at 8:10 am and they had nothing out. I asked when the croissants would be ready and the little cashier said they are not making any today because the baker showed up late. I said okay well how long before you have anything else out? While she went to the back to ask " the baker" , another customer came in so she came out to take care of him. He asked the same thing how long before everything is out she said well I was bringing everything out but she came in and started asking questions (referring to me). I could not believe what she said. I just chuckled and said oh so im the reason why theres nothing out or baked yet! I left. Its always 1 thing or another in that bakery. And the breads are always day old. Never again. Every time I've been in there I've never been greeted with a smile a hello or a thank you.

I was blown away by this little hole in the wall bakery shop. The service was extremely friendly and informative, the owner offering samples of various items while explaining their significance in Swedish Culture. They make everything fresh with no preservatives and the flavor only benefits as a result, everything I tasted was magnificent, and what I purchased was even more fantastic. The cheesecake was flavorful but light, not overpowering and simple, with just some chocolate on the edge and a couple fresh raspberries to compliment. One of the diamonds in the rough, I think was the passionfruit beignet. While checking out at the register I heard the lady mention them to another couple in the bakery saying they had them for only 75 cents. My ears instantly perked up at the flavor combination So I just could not pass it up, and I very thankfully purchased one. I have no idea why, but that flavor combination was something special.

I always make the effort to visit here when I'm in town. However, selection was down, no coffee was available, and simple service was very slow. The clerk had a bad interaction with prior customer, so sorry that happened. I wonder if more training would be helpful to build confidence and smooth things out. The customers behind me also were becoming impatient...work on solutions to keep customers coming back for good pastries 🍰 and good service.

Have had to change my 5* review. Apparently they are under new management which hasn't been for the better. The display case is nearly empty every time I have gone in. Cookies are very small now and harder. They rarely have what they used to (brownie, small fruit pastries, flourless cake, etc.). Today when I was in people left after being told they didn't have the product they were looking for. Not what it used to be.

Unlike any other bakery in the area. Everything is authentic Scandinavian. They also have some imported grocery and refrigerated items. The lovely young lady up front is very willing to explain the selections in great detail. There are two small tables inside and two outside under a covered patio. I tried a pastry called Budapest and had excellent espresso. I brought home a bottle of mixed drink concentrate.
