It was really good food but the atmosphere has issues. Dated, musty and cluttered with stuff that needs to be put away. The curtains across the front were closed and need to be drawn back to open the place up. Again, the food was very good.
Gasthaus in a strip mall, parking right out front. I was alone and the restaurant empty as well for an early lunch service. Jaeger schnitzel and pomme. Tasty. Could have used more gravy but the mushrooms were well cooked. This is pretty good German faire. Will come back and see the beer and wine selection.
Food was very good. The A/C system needs work, but I put that on the landlord. Building is okay. Service was fast! People were friendly, very helpful and efficient. The schnitzel was very good. I enjoyed the fried potatoes! We had dinner and my beef roll was outstanding, my companion had the schnitzel which was very tasty. I would go back.
My husband and I have recently been ordering meals from Zum Gasthaus via Door Dash. The food is as fresh as if we’d eaten at the restaurant. And, boy oh boy, is it good! I love their Jägerschnitzel, sauerkraut, lentil soup and potato salad! I would’ve included a pic with my post, but I gobble up the food before I even have a chance to take a photo of it. Try it out. You won’t regret it.
Had lunch there today and we were pleasantly surprised. I had the goulash and my husband had the beef roll. It came with red cabbage, noodles and gravy, peas, and pan fried potatoes. I substituted sauerkraut for the red cabbage, but the red cabbage was better then the kraut. The meat was super tender and the flavors were good. Peas were a bit bland but not bad. My daughter had the schnitzel from the kids menu and it was huge and very tasty. We had 2 German beers (Franziskaner Weizen and Oktoberfest Paulaner) and they were good. I'm from Germany 🇩🇪 and I tend to be critical of German food, but I was not disappointed here. We'll be back! Oh yeah, the young man that waited on us was very friendly and efficient. Thank you for a nice experience!
Great experience. Ordered a classic weinerschnitzel which I've had many times in Munich and was not disappointed. Came to this area for business and glad I checked it out. The staff was very nice and the inside looks like a classic German place. Very authentic. Will definitely be coming back when I'm in the area!
The food is satisfactory and authentically Bavarian. The feel of the restaurant is also very homely and Bavarian style. The big hit for me is that they serve schnitzel with melted swiss cheese and the kraut is sweet. This is not a fine dining establishment at all. The dining area is messy and cluttered near the back. I have eaten here during lunch a few times and there has yet to be another customer come in. The one guy that is always working here is accommodating, but not overly in your face. There is one TV that will have the news on. Zum Gasthaus is where you want to go if you miss the feel of the old Wurst Haus, before they turned it into primarily a bar.
Tonight was my familys first time to eat here. Its small and quiet. The jagerschnitzel was DELICIOUS!!! The German potatoe salad DELICIOUS!!! Large portions too. Our waiter was also amazing! We will be back!
Great food, great service, and good prices. A well kept secret that many long-time Lake Jackson residents have never visited. Only a half block from Wurst Haus but harder to find. If you like hot German Potato Salad, you must try Zum Gasthaus.
Every time I've eaten here its been delicious.I love the jaeger sauce and cabbage roll. My friend had chicken cordon bleu and loved it too...restaurant has a very homey feel to it and so does the food.
