Our first visit to Japengo was wonderful. Our server and the supporting wait staff were excellent, attentive and not overbearing. Our food was beautifully presented, served hot (cool for the sushi) and every dish was flavorful and filling. The artistic combination of Asian flavors with standard fare (beef, pork chop, fried rice, sushi) made dinner incredibly satisfying. We did not order drinks from the bar and soft drinks were refilled when needed. The ambiance was...perfect. Open air, outdoor seating allowed for all 5 in our parry to have a view, although each was different. A bit cool with the breezes off the ocean so a sweater might be right for those who get chilled easily. We would highly recommend Japengo and will definitely return.
The restaurant was overlooking the ocean with amazing views. Bobby was our waiter and did a great job of recommending meal ideas for us. The food was so delicious!!!
Excellent dining experience. Service was amazing, and food was genuinely good. Karaage chicken was really great, and the different roles we got were all equally unique and amazing. Highly recommend this spot if you're staying at the Hyatt!
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner experience at Japengo. We had reservations and were seated promptly on time. Our server was cheerful and attentive. Cocktails, appetizers, and entrees were delivered timely and the evening was very enjoyable. All of the food was delicious.
This is hands down one of the best sushi experiences in the world. The sushi is VERY good! The staff is friendly, the location cannot be beat.
Located in the Hyatt Regency in Maui - the sunset views and open dining experience is world-class.
Recommend getting reservations. The drinks are fantastic!!

Made reservations for our honeymoon and we had an awesome experience! Food was awesome and the vibes were beautiful with the sunset. The value isn't quite there but I know its an on-site restaurant to an awesome hotel with a beach view so I can't be too critical.
Such a wonderful place for Sushi rolls, seafood and fabulous ocean views. Be sure to get reservations as they get booked fast, although check online as they also get cancellations and spots open up. The food is amazing, the views are to die for.
In two weeks, my husband and I have tried many restaurants across the island and Japengo was our favorite. The food was sensational. The views were incredible. I got the filet of beef and the tomato and corn risotto. The filet had such delicious flavor and the crunchy onions were the perfect touch. We had an excellent experience and highly recommend the restaurant.
This place serves some of the best sushi on the island. Sushi is fresh and on average price wise with the rest of the higher end places. Rice is cooked perfect. Beer is on the expensive side. Service is pretty good.
Parking is a rip off. You have to pay to park, unless you are already staying at the hotel. But you might even have to pay them. If you are spending $75 a person for dinner, parking should be included.
Great food! We showed up without a reservation and were denied because it said reservation only and they wouldn’t let us at the bar or anything. We went to a local bar opened up the app and made a reservation online and showed up back 10 minutes later and suddenly got in. Strange, right? The food was good but the waitress was not. We had to flag her down continuously. Loved the sushi and dessert! The cab wine was flat though.
