Somewhere I go every day!!. In N Out... That's What a Hamburger's All About!
It's a place that I stop at literally almost every day. Actually, I know most of the employees by first name and I'm pretty sure they know my regular order by heart. In fact, I just ate there tonight... and yesterday. It's my favorite place to grab a burger and fries. I call this little piece of heaven, In N Out. There are three locations that are near me. One is in Laguna Niguel which just happens to be on my way home from school. This is where I stop just about every day after football practice. There is another in Laguna Hills which is conveniently located right off of the 5 freeway by the shopping mall. The third is in Rancho Santa Margarita located close to my sisters cheer gym. Lucky for me, and all other South Orange County residents there are many convenient locations to serve us.
Every one of their locations is almost identical. The food is consistently good and cheap, and the restaurant is clean and tidy. One can spot these burger stands from afar with its tall red sign with white letters and giant yellow arrow. Most locations have a similar floor plan. There are typically two entrances to the square, glass building. You are welcomed in the entrance by bright white tiles with red palm trees painted on to them. A stripe of these red tiles surround the perimeter of the inside of the restaurant. Most of the restaurants have several booths with red leather benches, several tables with red, shiny chairs, and six to eight counter stools for diners on the go. There is also a selection of outdoor speckled picnic type tables with umbrella's for those that want to dine in the heat. I mean, fresh air. The restaurants are always neat, spotless , and well air conditioned. Tables are cleaned swiftly and trash is removed promptly. The ambiance of the restaurant is bright, cheerful and pleasant, peppered with smiley workers wearing white paper hats and lightly soiled aprons. It smells of sizzling patties, salty fries and bubbling sodas filled to the brim with clear, crunchy ice. The pricing is also amazing at these diners. They are cheaper than just about anything around for fresh, quality food. Though it isn't for the diet conscious, I can grab a full meal for under $7.00! Clearly, most people would agree with me on the appeal of this restaurant. There is always a line, and often times, no place to sit. You will find kids and teens as well as parents and grandmas! Everyone seems to love In N Out as much as I do!
Naturally, the signature item at In N Out is the Double Double. If you aren't familiar with this term, allow me to explain. Picture this: one freshly made bun soft as a cotton ball, secret sauce that's finger licking good, crisp lettuce that is hand leafed, juicy red tomatoes, two slices of gooey orange cheese, two tender beef patties, and savory grilled onions that are seasoned to perfection. Also, you can add several things to this burger if you choose like mustard, ketchup, pickles, or make it "animal style". This delicious bundle of perfection is what has made them famous and there is a reason why. It's good, it's cheap, and it never disappoints! The ingredients are so fresh, you can watch the workers preparing the food as you order. They don't freeze and ingredients and they don't even have a microwave in their stores. Now that's what I call fresh!
The full menu at In N Out is surprisingly small. To make things simple, there are burgers, fries, ice cream shakes, and a selection of beverages. Like I already mentioned, the burgers are just perfect. They can be made with or without cheese and can be constructed with either one, two, three (called a 3x3), or 4 (4x4) juicy meat patties. If you happen to be a vegetarian, they can also make you a grilled cheese with no meat, or protein style with no fluffy bun. Personally, I don't understand this. The fries come in one size. They are long, crispy sticks of pure potato right out of the grease and salted to perfection. They are served in a small white tray and are perfect dipped in ketchup or slathered in side packets of secret sauce. The shakes are divine as well. they come in three flavors: chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry, You can also order it Neapolitan which is all three flavors in one. When your shake is first served it is so cold and thick you can't even suck it up through the straw. When you do finally get some in your mouth, the creamy substance delights the palate and leaves you wanting more when your straw reaches the bottom. Luckily, another shake is just about 2 bucks.
Clearly, my recommendation is that everyone eat at In N Out. The food is delicious and well priced. Every time you go to In N Out, you know what you're going to get. The food is consistent and the prices never go up. The service is speedy, friendly, and almost every chain location has a convenient drive through. This restaurant, though not fancy, appeals to everyone both young and old. Though the menu isn't huge, it's long enough to make anyone happy. After all, a burger, fries and a shake is all anyone really needs to be happy, isn't it?
