Let me start by saying that I'm from AZ. I've been eating Mexican food my entire life and have never had decent flavor anywhere other than Az or NM. I was pleasantly surprised with Tampico's. Their salsa is excellent, flavorful, slightly hot, but not so hot you can't taste it. It's also the only salsa I've ever had served warm. What a great idea! I had their grilled fish tacos. The fish was good, the sauce served with the fish was one of the best I've ever tasted. Overall, my meal was one of the best Mexican dinners I've ever had. If I find myself back in Lafayette I'll definitely stop in again.
I've been going here for years! Finally in town from work, so I had to come check out my favorite place, with my favorite server Chelsea! Quick service, friendly staff, great food and margaritas. Saturday fun day!
Best nachos in my opinion. Not like most places where only the top layer of chips has toppings. Each individual nacho had toppings and it was very flavorful. We ordered a couple of different items off the menu and all were pretty good. I most definitely recommend the super nachos though.
My sis and I went see a friend perform in the Bar area. It's a cool little spot for live music . The salsa is so good. It's served warm. Yum! The food is very good. We had a fantastic time hanging out.
I love Tampico's. Been eating at their various locations since I can remember. I've eaten at almost every Mexican restaurant in the Lafayette area and Tampico's still had the very best salsa. All of their dishes are delicious as well. I recommend the chimichanga and emmolada enchiladas.
I really enjoyed this visit to Tampicos! The service is good and the food was out fast. I had the steak Fajita chimichanga. The presentation was unique and the steak....OMG, the steak had and amazing smoked flavor that you don’t find in many local restaurants. For me it set them apart to make my meal a special treat! There was even something I have never had before anywhere on this plate. It was a sweet super moist corn bread type of dish. Idk what it is called but it was super good, I wish I had more of it on the plate.

The atmosphere, good service, good food. The server is very accommodating.
The food is good. Nothing that blows you away, but really good. The ambiance is ok as well. For some reason when we go, they always sit us next to the kitchen. It can be a bit loud depending on the guests but I can't say it is very romantic. Overall a good place to bring the family on a week night. Food seems to be fresh and is always straight from the stove/oven.

The best of the best!! There is no other like Tampico’s in Lafayette!! A bit Tex Mix, but is closer to original Mexican food! Servers and all staff were attentive and polite!! I’m giving them a 10 😻😻😍😍😻😻
Love this place! This is one of the best Mexican restaurants in the area. The service is always great, the food is wonderful, and the atmosphere is very comfortable. Try the cornbread cakes!
