Golden Chick

The staff was extremely courteous and professional in assisting me (have a bad leg) and the food was fresh and hot. The restaurant was very clean and tidy as well. The salad was pretty tasty and filling for it's size. The fries were also quite tasty. Now for the bad, this is my first time ever eating at not only this store, but this chain in general. The chicken itself was very juicy, outer crunchy and cooked well, but the flavor is so bland. The breading doesn't really have any flavor to it. I'm used to Popeyes and KFC with Church's being my goto for bland tasting chicken when nothing else tickles my feather. With that said, this chicken is by far the most bland fried chicken I've ever eaten. The breading seems to be put on there for the texture and not the flavor. If bland is your thing, have at it, you won't be disappointed. I will personally not go back because of the flavor, but again, the location was very good and the staff were excellent.

Waited 40 mins in drive thru for 16 tenders and 5 catfish, rolls burnt, black girl gives an attitude when I asked for a few more bbq sauce, throwing about 13 sauces in a bag and says what else could you possibly need after asking for more than 2 sauces for 16 tenders. Trying to close store at 7:20pm gives the excuse that they weren’t ready for our large order of 16 strips and 5 piece catfish Beyond mad after paying $55. A horrible experience. someone’s kid is sitting and eating in the lobby while their working, the kid was also black so I’m guessing he’s the black girls child regardless unprofessional to have a kid bored in the lobby sitting there staring at the wall. Also says WE HAVE SHRIMP on the digital sign and they aren’t aware of this and said they do not offer shrimp. Will WILL NEVER RETURN and spend my hard earned money at this establishment. Order placed at 7:24 order out at 8:05 smh

Wish things were different.... I absolutely used to love this place, I spent so much money here, the lotta zing really hooked me and I almost always had a great experience. Fast forward years later, the quality has declined, and the consistency is gone, some times its decent, others its awful, they always forget something, even after claiming its in the bag. They act so protective over their items, as if you arent allowed to purchase or ask for too much, which makes no sense for a business, the whole point is to sell the product, so why purposely lie about inventory? Its ridiculous, staff there could care less about their job. Place I always held dear, is now a shell of its former self. Tonight was the last time I visit here.

I give 5 stars only when it is deserved. There is a dramatic difference at this La Vernia location. The staff is so friendly and courteous we gladly make the trip out here to eat. The quality, service, cleanliness, and timely delivery of our food is top notch. You only RARELY get this level of service in San Antonio locations. They set the standard here.
