This fast food Mexican beats most sit down Mexican restaurants I've been to!! Amazing Alaskan Salmon Burritos!!!
Great service and awesome food with loads of options
Came here for the first time with some friends. The food was fantastic and fresh. The customer service was top notch. Seating is limited inside as they have some tables blocked for social distancing, but they have a decent shaded outside area as well. The location was very clean, the bathrooms were very clean as well. Everyone was super friendly and welcoming.
SUGGESTION: Your shaded area outside tends to accumlate water up top of the easy-ups. I suggest to hit those before opening and get the water off. When the wind blows just right, the water comes down on your guests sitting at the tables. We did not care, but I can see some customers becoming upset for it does accumulate a decent amount of water that can get someone pretty wet suddenly.
Fast casual dining. They specialize in fish and seafood tacos.
They have good specials on Tuesday. $6.99 for a fish, shrimp, and Mahi taco. Or $1.49 for a regular fish taco, $2 for a special fish taco. Excellent prices for the La Jolla area.
Good salsa bar. Green sauce tastes tangy and a little spicy. Red sauce is thick like pasta sauce and sweet.
I'm taking off a star because they use their bare hands to prepare the food.
Rubio's stores are inconsistent this one is outstanding... good portions the mahi-mahi tacos have nice portions of fish the staff is friendly they are quick... this is a great location Rubios should see why their other stores don't perform as well as this one. The store in sports arena I won't even go there anymore
You may have an implicit bias towards Rubios because it is a chain restaurant, but I have never been in a nicer Rubios then this one on Fay. It's still the best Fish Taco in Downtown La Jolla and they have great Taco Tuesday deals. They have other options beside their staple dish, such as salads and burritos.
The General manager here will go above and beyond to please you.
Standard fare, Consistent with what I have had before. I could not find a salsa that pleased me, Maybe it was just my taste in that moment. We will certainly go back when appropriate.
Been going here for years. Great place with good service. Outdoor dining set up since no one can eat inside yet.
Fish tacos don't get better than this ... that's from someone that's tried them EVERYWHERE

I like Rubio's, and as I visited their stores I have noticed that a lot of people locally love Rubio's and think of it fondly. Their food is good and fresh and the service is good.
